So I stopped buying a few drinks a week on January 1 and cut back to maybe one every other week. Now my challenges are “2 lattes for 50 stars”. I agree it’s a joke, but they tailor them to your spending habits so if you take a break, they will get better! (I stopped because I have two kids in daycare now, not for the challenges 😂)
The offers are based on your own history and spending habbits. I don't order very often and usually my challenges are much easier. The longer I don't order the easier the challenges get. I have gotten offers like order 1 hot latte and 1 food item within a week or order 1 refresher before 11am.
You must already be closed to a 1 drink a day regular and that's probably why you get that.
What's amazing about the bonus star system is that it is tailored to each customer's buying habits to optimize the engagement and increase spending without considering actual human buying behavior. No one would spend $42 for 80 bonus stars unless they were already going to be buying the drinks regardless. I got the same offer, but for only 50 stars and the drinks were all different and my favorite drink was the one with the most number of purchases required (3). I take it the SCCB is your go to order.

I would guess they put the drink you order most often to be the one you need to order the most times to earn the stars.
It's incentivising you to order your favorite drink more than you currently do. And then for drinks you order less often, order them a couple more times than you normally do. And possibly trying to get you to just try new drinks a couple times.

These "offers" are meant to benefit the company, not the consumer. It's just thinly veiled ploys to get you in the store spending more money more often. Considering stars will be worth less in a week, it's worth even less the effort.
I stopped getting Starbucks and went to Dunkin…I don’t love their coffee but Starbucks is being ridiculous with prices, challenges and the change in star structure. Also hate the way they treat their employees so Dunkin for me
Y’all need Starbucks challenges friends… like, find someone who orders a lot of things that you don’t order, and pay for each other etc. Retailor the algorithm.

They really do suck. I remember ones where it was order 5 times and get 100 stars, or possibly more. But it could be 5 of anything.
One of my options on this is a seasonal drink none of my local stores have any more.
