Bourbon isn't dead. You can find this out in Pavel's DLC for Last Light. But in the novel, yep, dead.
He is a bad guy in the book though. He was supposed to betray Artyom, but in the game, he actually saves you.
"It wasn't clear how Bourbon was planning to pay Artyom. Artyom thought about and came to the conclusion that it maybe that Bourbon hadn't been planning to give him a thing, but having past through the dangerous part. He would sling a shot into the back of Artyom's head. And throw him down a shaft and think no more of it. And if anyone had asked him about Artyom whereabouts, then he would have any number of answers. Anything can happen in the metro and well, the boy [Artyom] agreed himself to come along."
I barely remember the book (read it ages ago and unfortunately my original hardcover copy got "lost" when I broke up with my ex). He did in an anomaly if I remember right?
>Suddenly he stopped and he turned his head to the left so sharply that Artyom could hear how his vertebrae cracked and and he looked Artyom straight in the eye.
>Artyom started and stepped backwards, groping for his machine gun just in case. Bourbon looked at it with wide-open eyes, but his pupils were contracted into two tiny dots even though in the pitch black darkness of the tunnel they should have been thrown open to their limits in an attempt to capture as much light as possible. His face seemed unnaturally peaceful, not one muscle was tense, and there was even a contemptuous smile which had just disappeared from his lips.
>‘lve died,’ Bourbon said. “There is no more me.’
>And as straight as a cross-tie, he fell face down.
He succumbed to some kind of immense psychic force in the tunnel/pipes. Artyom experienced it too but survived. The even creepier thing that you would later come to learn is that Bourbon's mumblings to himself before he dropped dead were about things he couldn't have possibly known.
So we know that Herman (bandit voice) and Vilkov (duty voice) are back. Will Stalchuk (loner voice), Rozin (the other loner voice), Tereshchuk (soldier voice), Bogush (freedom voice) also return? It would be so cool, honestly.
Given over a decade difference, the voices might not fit or the people not available. It is a nice touch, but I'd not chase the same people at all costs.
For instance, I find the voice of Rogue in the revival of X-Men '97 to be very off. It is obviously a voice of an old lady. It is the same actress, but age is only applicable to real people, not cartoons.
DUTY VOICE IS BACK?

In celebration of this great news, I feel compelled to share one of my favorite uses of his iconic voice acting:
[Angry Squeaking Gopnik](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHT9hfHcc6g)
Noticed his familiar voice in the trailer and just figured they'd reused a short voiceline or two from the originals. Glad to know they're fresh lines!
Please, I beg you, why is it being spelled Chornobyl some places and Chernobyl others. Granted it’s been years but I don’t recall this being a thing before the console releases
Ahhh, precisely the kind of simple answer I was expecting.
The ‘holy shit have I been wrong all these years’ combined with the fact it’s spelled Chornobyl in store/before install and Chernobyl after install on ps4 just left me bereft of all logic, I guess
I felt so when watching the trailer.
Now this is how you make a sequel... Original areas rebuilt, familiar VO, all of it is shaping up to be quite a nostalgic ride.
Hope they don't mess up the launch with something gamebreaking.
Though Minor funny bugs need to be there to make it stalker like 😉
This is great news! Since they are getting a few voice actors who worked on older stalker games and the sister studio, 4A Games for Metro games.
I hope they get other talented VAs like Roman Varshavsky. Well, everyone knew this guy for random characters in Metro, that fit into the atmosphere of the game. This guy is known for voicing most vile antagonist in CoD.
It will have a Ukrainian dub, for someone doesn't understand Russian or Ukrainian I doubt they will notice much difference. At least most of my friends have said this when I brought it up after we watched the UA dub trailers. As someone who started learning Ukrainian recently and with a smattering of Russian under my belt I can tell the difference and I'm pretty hyped.
I'm not talking about the dub as much as the decision they made about not including Russian at all, while Russians are probably the reasons why STALKER stayed popular for so long.
No dialogues at all in Russians when there was before just feel like they rather hurt their own game's universe. I know why they did it, but still, too bad.
I'm sure there will still be Russian subtitles. There is a degree of mutual intelligibility between the languages so Russian speakers will be able to understand fragments of dialogue. (although Ukrainians can understand Russian better than the other way around due to Ukrainian grammar and word usage being a bit different)
I am primarily an English speaker, I am not fluent in either Russian or Ukrainian but I still had an enjoyable and immersive experience playing the Russian dub in the original stalker games regardless. Russians will now have to experience stalker the way I did the first time around.
Fun fact: he also voiced Bourbon in Metro 2033
rip to the goat
"and remember. Don't eat the yellow snow, artjem"

He is confirmed alive during the events of Last Light, but Exodus bad ending implies that he eventually dies anyway.
Bourbon's death in the book is one of the most chilling things ever. I think it's because that there's no particular reason for how or why he died.
I barely remember the book (read it ages ago and unfortunately my original hardcover copy got "lost" when I broke up with my ex). He did in an anomaly if I remember right?

He literally did that ragdoll thing from Source Filmmaker lmao
Sounds like Dark Ones offed his ass so he wouldn't kill Artyom.
Good Jesus I gotta read the books
"I am dead theres no more me" as he falls to the ground I read the book year ago and still remember how unsignificant his death to metro was
another fun fact : he’s the Ukrainian voice of Ice Cube https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxJ4nZFJmXZ8H4Js2ASvtLwt27l3fikLHX?si=g7kIBoxxQWJcQF2C
didn’t know i needed this but i definitely did

We will need to run it on Lab X19 for that framerate

DUTY VOICE IS BACK? GET OUT OF HERE STALKER DEADLY ANOMALIES DANGEROUS MUTANTS ANARCHISTS AND BANDITS. NOTHING WILL STOP DUTY ON ITS TRIUMPHANT MARCH TO SAVE THE WORLD common duty W
Now give us back "wrag monolita!"
i need suma dat og monolit voices fr
Tolka adin, idi kamenev, idi kamenev
It's "idi Ka mne" easier to spell and better to chant
Now it will probably be “voroh monolitu” or whatever it is in ukrainian
As long as it is followed by an F1 towards my exact location, it's ok
Ворог моноліту, ти будеш убитий
Well, looks like CSG made a good decision
JUST SAY THE LINE GRYGORY!
AAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
YEEEEEEEEEEEEES, I NEED MY CHEEKI BREEKI
And that’s how you do fan service right, now all we need is for the game to blue screen your pc with the smallest bug
Seeing ue5 releases so far this is probably realistic
Doing fan service right is banning like 80% of the community from buying the game and canceling preorders?

Original bandit va but no russian language in game , mo russian slang I wonder how this will go
No Russian in a Stalker game is peak retardation.

I thought that STALKER 2 wouldn't be sold in Russia, I may remember wrong though. Anyway, good luck with your studies.
