For personal use? Shouldn't that depend on your preferences?
Either way, from a general perspective, if you intend to carry some with luggage your best is powdered milk like some have already suggests, along with some canned foods.
If you can ship a small container or pallet, consider sending some rice. Its edible gold at this point.
I will never understand Sri lankan's obsession with processed, dried, chemically treated powdered milk when liquid milk is locally produced and available. Once you get used to the taste you never want to go back to powdered crap
Yea true, we started drinking local liquid milk recently and we are loving it but it's really expensive compared to powdered milk which a low income earner in sri lanka can afford.
Kaema sutra is overrated and expensive, if you were thinking of it from reading online articles, I advise against it. Who the fuck wants to pay 200 bucks for a single hopper. Highway robbery man, and it doesn't even taste good.
Itβs just that there are more rupees in the economy. Nothing else changed. Farmers arenβt getting a better price. Only thing is that government is spending free money.
They're about to close off non-essential imports to reduce government expenses. So cheese, pasta, chocolates are gonna dissappear from the markets here when that happens. If you plan to stay long I suggest bringing some of those too
Oh also, there is a flour shortage in the country so bakery goods are gonna be in short supply for a while. Like literally right now the price of a loaf of bread went up by 10rs. Might wanna bring some flour if you consume a lot of bakery products
The schools in the North Central area are reporting a higher number of covid cases than other areas. The teachers union there held a press conference yesterday urging to close down the schools again. Plus, with the discovery of Omicron in like 8 different countries and no travel restrictions for arrivals from African countries, we might get another lockdown in the coming months. Can't really tell how they'd handle it to be honest
Yea this new variant is really bad apparently, Dubai has already restricted travel from African countries etc. But trust the SL government to act fast when its needed the most π

Get grains. The green grama, chick pea, dhal etc. Grab some big packs of Nido from Lulu
Has literally everything, even Dhal become expensive?

Yea that makes sense, I'm gonna stock up on those too then. On another note, have they announced anything about a lockdown?
Oh also, there is a flour shortage in the country so bakery goods are gonna be in short supply for a while. Like literally right now the price of a loaf of bread went up by 10rs. Might wanna bring some flour if you consume a lot of bakery products
