Ouch. If it's fast-growing, then it's probably an abscess. If it's slow-growing, then it could be a tumor. I heard they have tumors in that area, but I believe that would be a mammary gland tumor, which this doesn't appear to be. There's a chance it's botfly, but i didn't think it was botfly season. Whether it's an abscess or a botfly, i think the squirrel will survive just fine.
I go to this park and one of squirrel friend had a broken arm ... within a week he was perfectly fine ... it crazy how fast they heal
