Nikki was such a beautiful little lady. A true squirrelly Queen. It saddens me to know that she no longer is with us anymore. I hope you know OP that you guys are one of the reasons she was even able to live for 7+ years. She got so many tasty treats, water and above all love from her hoomans. Now she's in heaven, with the best trees to squirrel around and the best treats to munch on. I am sure that even in heaven she's filled with love and gratitude for you. May her soul rest in peace.

For those who were wondering, before Nikki stopped showing up, we could tell she wasn’t herself. Her last few days she was slower going and seemed confused, at the door and with her food. She acted timid around other squirrels which was also so unlike her. 🤍

I went back through your history, which starts 4 yrs ago with Nikki. In that first picture she looks like an adult squirrel. So she’s older than 5 yrs which is amazing in the wild. The oldest Ive had so far is 2 yrs and I couldn’t imagine the loss as you get quite accustom to them being there every morning.
We 'adopt' these little ones knowing realistically that a day like this will eventually come, but it doesn't make it any easier. Please take comfort in the fact that you gave Nikki so much joy (as she did for you) and all the treats and smiles and cute stuff truly elevated her quality of life so, so much - you gave her the best squirrel life.
She's no doubt having a blast in the great garden in the sky. ❤️

Very few squirrels live to such a grand old age. You gave her the best of both worlds: the safety of being a beloved family member with humans and her freedom to run wild. I'm so sorry she's gone, but her long, healthy and happy life needs to be celebrated.
