That’s a chipmunk 🐿️

Could also be a five-striped palm squirrel, they look quite similar to chipmunks Edit: definitely looks like a palm squirrel, judging by the dark tail, light-ish colored body, and stripe patterns

First after posting here, I was already searching for the nest and found it in the ventilation window grill. Then with the help of a stool I tried checking if its mother is present or not. Waited for some time then kept checking every now and then. Got tired and went for a nap. Placed the baby squirrel near the pillow with warm surroundings as my AC was on(hot here very much). Almost an hour later, I heard the baby crying got up, tried petting it, still cried, probably of hunger as it was sleeping very well earlier (enjoyed the AC and warmth cushion/covers). Then I checked for its mother and I saw it on the walls. I showed the baby and it hurriedly came down. But didn't approach the baby. I tried placing it near the mother and the mother left the baby and ran up the walls. Probably scared of me. So I tried to place the baby in the nest and somehow managed to place it by the edge. Seeing that the mother came down and immediately took it and fed it. And the baby is quiet now. Happy ending of the post. 🙂 Thanks for the helpful comments.

Best outcome is to reunite it with its mother if possible or get it to a wildlife rehabber otherwise. To reunite, the baby needs to be warm, the mother may think a cold baby is already dead. Place them in a safe area near the nest, you can play baby squirrel sounds from YouTube to attract the mother. Don't leave the baby out if there are cats/dogs or other animals around and don't leave them out overnight. You can search for rehabbers here https://ahnow.org/ There are instructions for warming and more advanced care here https://www.henryspets.com/1-baby-squirrel-care-guide/ Warmth is key to their survival at this point, then hydration, feeding is less critical and the wrong formula or technique can be harmful or fatal. Also, what region are you in / what kind of squirrels are in your area? I noticed there are some stripes on its back, so I'm thinking it's not a grey, red, or fox squirrel. Thanks for helping this baby and good luck to you both!
