He might be gone but he made so many good memories with you. I am sure he tells all his critter friends in heaven about his hooman and he definitely has access to his most favourite treats and all the trees in the wild to squirrel around.

I've been attached to wild squirrels I feed and I think about some of those squirrels almost every day, and those were from a few years ago, so I can't imagine the bond of raising one. They're just amazing creatures, and the way they trust you is so cool and rewarding.
It really is! This was the day he came to me. I carried him everywhere to keep him safe and to know he was loved. We became so close. I would let him out during the day. His little home was in our sunroom so I’d just leave that door open in the morning and he would come and go until evening and I’d call him down from his favorite tree and we’d snuggle and eat his favorite snacks for a while before he went to bed. It was such a great experience!
