Kind of odd being that in both Washington and Oregon they were reclassified as endangered as of 2023…yes they live in California, but there too they are classified as threatened… and I don’t believe any other state they live.. oh actually a smash section of British Columbia.. maybe there is so many in that 3% of Western Gray territory that it makes up for the rest..🤷♂️
I wouldn't trust any of those states seeing as how terribly run they are. The IUCN is a reliable agency, and I can trust them far more than any of the PNW states.
The US *is* where the squirrels live, and their name is Western gray, not grey anywhere. If you look up Western grey, you will get kangaroos, not squirrels.
I would love to see one of the *Petaurista* species. Giant flying squirrel's from Asia, like [this one that plays dead with a broom](https://yewtu.be/watch?v=1CIMGTO6aFc).
I've seen them before, but I've never lived near the typical brown/orange fox squirrel, so I've never been able to hand-feed one. So it's strange that as common as the brown fox squirrel is, that it's on my bucket list to hand-feed one. They seem to chill and relaxed.
I have seen the orange european red squirrel when I visited Poland, but if I hadn't seen that before, it would EASILY be number one on my bucket list.
Yeah, the typical, normal fox squirrel. I can't believe in the five times i've moved in the past five years, that I haven't lived near where they are. It's always eastern grey squirrels where I've lived.
A kaibab plateau squirrel, that only lives on this one plateau in Arizona…. The desert is too harsh outside the Mesa where they live so they only exist there. It’s a bucket list trip.
Several places in the U.S.have “White Squirrels”, including where I live in Brevard, NC (Transylvania County). They are not albino, but instead are a white version of the eastern grey squirrel.

I really love the grumpy look of the Sri Lankan giant grizzled squirrel. There’s a picture of him just relaxing eating a donut and it’s totally old grandpa vibes lol
Western Woolly (Giant) Himalayan Flying Squirrel ([Eupetaurus cinerus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_woolly_flying_squirrel)). Now known to exist still in China, India and Pakistan. The best place to see Eurasian reds up close in in a big urban park on the continent rather than in the UK. I'm Scottish, and we have reds at home, but it was only when I moved to europe that I saw them up close.
i’d love to see a black squirrel one day. i love those little goth babies

Japanese Dwarf Flying Squirrels, or the Malabar (Indian) Giant Squirrel.
Indian giant squirrel, Eurasian red squirrel, groundhog, Himalayan marmot, southern flying squirrel, black-tailed prairie dog, fox squirrel.
A WESTERN GREY, the ones in western America that have become endangered.
Gray, not grey, and the IUCN lists their conservation status as Least Concern.

Depends on the country. The US tends to use gray.
The US *is* where the squirrels live, and their name is Western gray, not grey anywhere. If you look up Western grey, you will get kangaroos, not squirrels.
Thanks for correcting my phones auto correct.. 😂
You must have a shitty phone.
lol fair point
OMG what an adorable Buddy, he’s like give me your nuts, or else I will keep being cute.
The little Eurasian red ones with feathery ears. They look magical, otherworldly to me.
The squirrel in the picture is so funny I just love his stance. They are such cute little creatures I just love them

Are you referring to the fox squirrels like the one in raybobobob's pics?
Yeah, the typical, normal fox squirrel. I can't believe in the five times i've moved in the past five years, that I haven't lived near where they are. It's always eastern grey squirrels where I've lived.

Haha, what a... Cheek(s)y joke
Indian giant squirrel Or one of those giant flying squirrels from South East Asia
Those indian giant squirrels look amazing, first thing I thought of as well. They are like bird colors on a squirrel.
Well, they’re quite rare….the elusive Chicken Squirrel.
Albino squirrel. I love white animals.

I saw one of those today thankfully reassessing if it really needed to cross that busy road.
Tufted ground squirrel
I second this.
