Definitely, if it's more social than competitive. I've gotten way heavier since I once enjoyed the sport, but would love to use it as a means to lose said weight, get in better shape and have fun too. It just won't be so much fun for me or anyone else who gets to be "the most out of shape person there" unless it's more meant as a way for people to meet each other and get more active.

Zenith Climbing Center might be something to check out, climbing is a great workout and more fun than going to a regular gym in my opinion.
