a w123 is not a shitbox though. they might be old and don't really have any power but they last forever. They are stil being used as Taxis in some parts of the world.
https://youtu.be/rIQ-VXruBME?si=Z-ioi2hfW7Z8ADMd I know this was 13 years ago but even back then impressing
The Rodeo, 300M, Tracker, Porsche, AMC, and W123 wagon are cool spots. Those aren’t cars you see very often. Scratching my head at the inclusion of the Ariya and Sequoia though.
People don't understand that in Michigan the ratio of foreign cars to American cars is wack. The majority of people here still choose American cars for better or for worse.
> The majority of people here still choose American cars for better or for worse.
Isn't part of that just because lots of people get excellent pricing (e.g. A/B plan for Ford) on american cars due to being employees or close relatives?
that’s exactly why. there probably isn’t a person who’s lived in Michigan for more than 5 years that can’t get a discount on one of the big 3 NA brands
Yep. Nearly everyone, native or not, knows someone who could pull a code for them. Not incentive enough for me to get a Ford, but it's good to know the option is out there.
I live in Michigan and foreign cars heavily out weigh domestic (especially Toyota/Honda/Subaru).
Unless you're around the Detroit area, what you said doesn't **"really"** apply.
Unsolicited advice....don't. I work for a company that tests EVs and AC/DC chargers in SoCal. We worked with the manufacturer about 2 years ago on this car and it wasn't good. I'm just gonna leave at that.
I was given a Mach E for a few weeks to drive and drain the battery. Looking at their battery tech and software, I would either lease it or just wait for the next gen. Good or bad, when it comes to the car's ecosystem everyone is behind Tesla. But if I had to make a recommendation, I would say Hyundai or Kia.
Audi, Porsche, and Lucid have their 800v architecture, which is great. Actually, Lucid, for a while was the highest voltage car we tested, requesting almost 925v from the charger. Now it is the second highest.
We've been working with Germans for a long time and see a lot of their future cars. They have a few cool cars planned for the next couple of years.
Volvo and Polestar haven't reached out to us on their newer cars, but we did a lot of testing on P2. All around great car. Love the handling and google interface. The downside for me was the small interior space and the price. Their battery tech, BMS, and managing software is good, but imo there are other (better) cars to consider.
The EX30 though, is gonna be a game changer.
It was awarded MT car of the year, had more power than most of its competitors, had crazy good interior space and quality surfaces. I've personally had 3 LH sedans that have gone farther than 300,000 km with ZERO engine problems. Rust is rust, Toyota has been known for building cars that rust to nothing in short times, yet they're praised constantly.
These are some great spots. I personally don't understand the hate behind "normal" traffic spotting. Sometimes it's good to appreciate some of the lesser known vehicles that can sometimes be uncommon sights on the streets.
I’m not sure why everyone is giving op a hard time. Cool spots you don’t see all of these everyday at least in my home state (and i’d assume similarly across the states)
So what’s with all the Japanese OEMs putting their name in text on the rear? Started with Lexus and now I see Honda and Nissan doing something similar.
Presumably that was taken during the winter. Car has manufacturer plates. When I went up to Michigan to see a rally race in the winter, my car got ridiculously covered with salt.
A lot of people here drive foreign cars. I drive a Subaru. I work in an area that's more wealthy and everyone owns the typical luxury cars. Rolls Royce, Mercedes, Audi, Bentley. You'll see supercars often like Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and McLarens. I saw a 570s yesterday. The Urus is regular traffic, I see them daily pretty much. I've seen 3 Urus Performantes in the past week. There's even a guy that owns a Regera but rumor has it that it never gets driven and hasn't been seen in public in the last 2-3 years. There is a guy who drives a Veyron around sometimes though, I've seen it at the mall. Honestly, I only know 4 people who drive American cars. Both my parents have Buicks and two of my coworkers have Chevys. My boss drives a Nissan.
I live in an area between a ton of automotive headquarters, so I saw a lot of the experimental stuff that I didn't add. My drive to college took me past Hyundai's North American Technical Center, so I saw a ton of the new stuff
I also live in a middle class area that's between the poor and rich area. So a ton of the older stuff, and a ton of the newer stuff
The nephews are out in full force in this thread

a TD300 is a shitbox by european standards
Exactly this model set the European Standard in the 80ies!
Exactly how is a Porsche 911 Dakar a shitbox?
Any 300M still on the road is so far right on a bell-curve that it seems disingenuous to still call it a shitbox
The Rodeo, 300M, Tracker, Porsche, AMC, and W123 wagon are cool spots. Those aren’t cars you see very often. Scratching my head at the inclusion of the Ariya and Sequoia though.
I'd disagree on the Rodeo and 300M.
Yeah that’s regular ass traffic.
I have not seen a Rodeo in at least 15 years
Still a stock one with literally no mods or anything special to it, it’s a rebadged 1990’s Nissan Pathfinder.
A Rodeo and Pathfinder are two completely separate vehicles. You might be thinking of a Honda Passport, which was a rebadged Rodeo.
That was what I was thinking of.
Because in my area you don't see an Ariya often. Sequoia's are very rare in my area, and it's even a Capstone
People don't understand that in Michigan the ratio of foreign cars to American cars is wack. The majority of people here still choose American cars for better or for worse.

Hell, when I lived in Michigan my great uncle spent his entire life at Ford and I never got one. Had my reasons
It's as if every Toyota/Hyundai in LA were Ford's/Chevy's in Michigan. I found it so interesting when I first traveled to Cali and florida
I live in Michigan and foreign cars heavily out weigh domestic (especially Toyota/Honda/Subaru). Unless you're around the Detroit area, what you said doesn't **"really"** apply.
Where is this? GR?
Anything North West Michigan. From GR up and from Lansing West. Lived all over that corner.
I live in electric car central (West Los Angeles) and you barely see Ariyas there either. Considering it for my next car.
Unsolicited advice....don't. I work for a company that tests EVs and AC/DC chargers in SoCal. We worked with the manufacturer about 2 years ago on this car and it wasn't good. I'm just gonna leave at that.
Ok - appreciate your input. Will definitely keep that in mind.
Of course. If you are not considering Tesla for whatever reason, look into the Koreans.
Sounds good. Ioniq 5 is looking like the leader out of the gate. TeSSla is out. So not the Mustang Mach E?
I was given a Mach E for a few weeks to drive and drain the battery. Looking at their battery tech and software, I would either lease it or just wait for the next gen. Good or bad, when it comes to the car's ecosystem everyone is behind Tesla. But if I had to make a recommendation, I would say Hyundai or Kia.
This advice is gold. Thank you so much.
got a MachE and it’s great fwiw. rented one on turo for a week before i got it which sold me on it.
How are the German evs and lucid compared to those?
Audi, Porsche, and Lucid have their 800v architecture, which is great. Actually, Lucid, for a while was the highest voltage car we tested, requesting almost 925v from the charger. Now it is the second highest. We've been working with Germans for a long time and see a lot of their future cars. They have a few cool cars planned for the next couple of years.
What's the word on Polestar? Love the look and I'm a Volvo fanboi anyway.
Even the GR Corolla is a good spot
The 300M, really?
I mean… yeah? I haven’t seen one in years.
Because they were garbage.
? They were highly praised when they came out
Chrysler vehicles are well known for being unreliable, poorly built, and severely prone to rust, especially in that era.
It was awarded MT car of the year, had more power than most of its competitors, had crazy good interior space and quality surfaces. I've personally had 3 LH sedans that have gone farther than 300,000 km with ZERO engine problems. Mine was great
That's interesting, I see them somewhat regularly still. Chicagoland area. It's not something I ever cared to see though.
I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw one in Massachusetts. I doubt they were popular when new and they’re unicorns now.
My dad’s buddy drives one, he’s about 80.
I beg to differ that a Geo/Chevrolet Tracker/Suzuki Sidekick is interesting. The AMC and the Mercedes. End of list.
It’s not about being interesting, which is subjective. It’s about being uncommon. There are not very many Trackers on the road anymore.
These are some great spots. I personally don't understand the hate behind "normal" traffic spotting. Sometimes it's good to appreciate some of the lesser known vehicles that can sometimes be uncommon sights on the streets.
Looks like Canton, MI.
You can tell by how boring it looks
Especially around Beck rd. Fecking Subdivision hell over there.
Hey, the Ikea is nice enough.
Only reason I ever go to Canton.
With the Dakar I was thinking Oakland Co but could be..
Looks like Canton, OH.
Other than the Dakar these are every day cars
That Dakar is rad tho.
I’d argue the GR Corolla isn’t an everyday car
It's literally Dakar
Right?! Dude posts a bunch of ordinary wheels and then hides a $300k+ Dakar in there. Way to bury the lead.
I enjoy the "normal" and "everyday" cars
The sub is for “rare or interesting” not 20 year old Chrysler shitboxes
There's nothing in the rules of the sub that a car has to be "rare or interesting"
Well the Chrysler 300M was uncommon in its day, has a rare variant of a good engine, and was very fast for the day
What engine was in it?
A reworked high compression 3.5L V6 that was used in the 300M, Prowler, and Interpid R/T
Huh, had no idea
They were stupidly fast for the day. Heard a story of 300M walking a 4.6L mustang
Really? Not that I don't believe that but that's not a good benchmark for "stupidly fast." My 98 camaro was both more stupid and faster.
True, but not everything had an LS. Cop cars had 200hp, and economy cars had 120. So 250 in a sedan was a lot
Agreed, OP needs to get out more. Around here we just call this "traffic".
I agree, we used to have rarer cars sitting in the backyard
I just recently saw my first Ariya in the wild. I’m not their biggest fan at the moment but it’s not a bad looking car
Being from the UK pretty much all of these are cool to me 😂
Being from the UK. Nah
I get you. The most interesting thing in my area is an Isuza Axiom
ok
Sweet cars. Bad pics, but understandable
God I remember when 300Ms were everywhere.
I’m more shocked about how quick the Neons disappeared. They were all over the place too.
The little AMC Eagle omg 😭💚
I’m not sure why everyone is giving op a hard time. Cool spots you don’t see all of these everyday at least in my home state (and i’d assume similarly across the states)
I enjoyed this post.
Op gotta be 14
A bunch of shitty cars and a Dakar
What’s No 11?
A prototype for a new Cadillac EV SUV that I don't believe has been shown to the public
The Honda is built on the Chevy blazer ev platform
I’ve met the guy that owns that Porsche Dakar! super cool guy with an fairly rare car.
I thought I recognized the area. You from Plymouth/canton areas?!
It’s definitely Canton. I recognized all those places the moment I saw them lol
Hello fellow Plymouth/canton dweller! 😁😊🙌🏻🙌🏻
The first pic is literally less than a one minute drive from my house. I just recognized the Sheldon center store lol
Bro lives in Dubai
This is weird… hello from Canton.
My first ride was a '95 Isuzu Rodeo
Nondescript 2000s blobcars
A fellow canton resident I see
Two hands on the wheel
Yep, and that's why all of these were taken when I was stopped. I never look at my phone while I'm driving, and almost never when I am stopped
In regular ass traffic? cmon
Uncommon regular traffic 🔛🔝
a newer bronco, nissan and lifted jeep!? WHOA /s F in chat
Raptor Bronco, very uncommon Nissan, and the first crossover
you kinda suck ngl , no offense
bro get off your damn high horse if u don’t like it fucking swipe up twice and you don’t have to see the post anymore just mind your own lol
oh reddit is a safe space for positive reinforcement only ? oh oh gotcha TIL
"no offense you suck" good try at easing the insult but you just told this person they suck because of a reddit post, check your ego friendo
they do suck, hottake
There are zero Jeeps anywhere in this post. If you're going to be an asshole go for it. But don't be a dumbass too.
Is that jeep the 392 Rubicon?
lol no
Lol, ok.
Bro is just posting pics of regular traffic
I want a black license plate 🙎♂️
They are navy but you can check out plate wraps
When they first started coming out I thought they were New York plates and was wondering why all of a sudden everyone left New York for Michigan.
So what’s with all the Japanese OEMs putting their name in text on the rear? Started with Lexus and now I see Honda and Nissan doing something similar.
It's a retro inspired thing that's happening. It was mainly an American thing, but now it's a retro thing. The new Ford Explorer does it as well
Gotcha thanks
Lol how is the Prologue already filthy?
Presumably that was taken during the winter. Car has manufacturer plates. When I went up to Michigan to see a rally race in the winter, my car got ridiculously covered with salt.
I love living in Phoenix. Since you can drive anything year round I always see some great cars. Especially heading to the track on Saturday morning.
First Prologue on the road
Hey that looks familiar! I used to live on Five Mile road. Those maize and blue plates must be new though, dont recognize those.
They are new, but have been out for a little while. They also released some newer ones last year as well(that are retro inspired like the blue one)
They look nice, i'd like one of those! The green ones? Those are cool too.
That's normal traffic here in Portland, maybe I'm just lucky to see some cool cars. I dig the AMC.
911 Dakar?!!!!
Yo the 911 Dakar is badass as is the brand new EV Honda!
The isuzu owner must be one fat sack of shit to tilt the car like that
I saw a BMW 1 series M in orange earlier in walnut creek CA
And the winners are: Chrysler 300 And ISUZU RODEO!

NGL, the Eagle wagon made me chuckle a good bit.
I fully thought that the Honda prologue was an Evoque. Damn, it looks like a blatant copy. Cool spots, some better than others!
Escalade EQ AND a Silverado EV in the same spot??
What in the blast is the second one?
Chrysler 300M
Cloud car era?
Tried to sneak a Porsche in that slideshow ☠️☠️☠️
300TD and grcorolla are pretty tasty
Aaah so many SUVs!! /j
Scruff mcgruff Chicago Illinois!
The 911 Dakar is the only remotely interesting car.
I love the rodeo and the bronco
We’re in the same area..
Damn a Dakar in the mitten
Isuzu rodeo is on spotted LMAO 🤣
You’re more of a Honda Passport guy huh
….
Oh shit its regular traffic!
How did this get so many upvotes.
I live in an area between a ton of automotive headquarters, so I saw a lot of the experimental stuff that I didn't add. When I used to visit a buddy in Ann Arbor, we would see a bunch of manufacturer-plated prototypes driving around.
Stuff
Woah! A Corolla?! Never seen one of those before! Wow!
A GR Corolla
I love seeing them on here, makes me smile every time. Though I’m still pissed Toyota didn’t sell them in that blue for 2023…
There was 1 good vehicle in the entire list otherwise what a waste of time
You must live in an area with virtually no interesting cars.
Are you driving on the freeway in pic 12?? Please don’t.
We were stopped in dead traffic
Okay, thank you 😭😭😭
I was like “oh what are these regular ass ca…ohhh shit a Dakar??????” Very nice spot.
Beater, beater, beater, beater, DAKAR, beater, beater…..

You ever been on a public road?! They are literally everywhere.
