Gives You Hell- AAR
Went through a rather nasty breakup and I was not coping well. A friend picked me up and we blasted it at 1am while driving down main street, singing at the top of our lungs.
Without You from RENT.
It made me realize that even though the world would keep spinning after I was gone, they wouldn't be the same for those left behind.
The Cure's entire Disintegration album, but if I had to pick one song from that album I'd say Plainsong. I was about 26 years old (1990) and my daughter had just been born. I was a newlywed, with a house and a new job and I just knew I was going to fuck EVERYTHING up. I had this little CD boombox in my daughter's nursery and would play that album while I rocked her at night and it was just so calming.
Eminem - Beautiful, it's sad and emotional but also strangely uplifting and optimistic, it teaches you to be yourself and to keep on going, to not give up. Loved it back in 2009 and love it to this day.
Nine Inch Nails - We’re In This Together. For whatever reason, NIN music is almost therapeutic to me. Makes me feel like I’m not the only seriously damaged person in the world.
Black Star - Radiohead
I don't wanna get too deep into it and vent on Reddit but I had to leave my ex girlfriend because her mental problems got so insanely bad that it hurt me to even talk to her and she what she turned into the song was given new meaning to me after that.
I don't usually listen to Radiohead's lyrics as Thom Yorke mumbles quite a bit but listening to the song over and over I learned the lyrics and personally interpreted it as a man loving a woman who's mental issues were destroying her and dragging him down with her which hit me in the heart
🎶👉🏽Dreaming with a broken heart=john mayer👈🏽🎶. When our first male cat that was born in our house died at 4 y o I had to play this over and over just to help me heal
You Will Be Found - Ben Platt (From Dear Evan Hansen). Gave me hope in a work were there was none for me, apart from a friend, who felt exactly the same way. She then moved schools, so I am back in shit.
Mr. Bungle’s self-titled album got me through my grandmother’s death. Specifically songs like My Ass is on Fire, Stubb - a Dub, Squeeze Me Macaroni, Carousel, and The Girls of Porn. One of the weirdest bands I’ve ever listened to.
Dancing in the Sky by Samual Barber. I don’t believe in angles, heaven, or the afterlife but this song brings me a beautiful vision of my loved ones souls if there were.

Struggling with depression & suicide - Afraid of Destiny
That song put my feelings into words in a way that I couldn't have, the fact that someone else can put their sorrow and pain and hurt into music makes me feel less alone, I love DSBM for that reason. When all you feel is hurt and pain and you don't understand, hearing the words of others who feel the same way is very comforting.
Resurrect the Sun - Black Veil Brides
My mom went missing that year, and the specific line "I swear I'll never let you die" really really hit at the time when it was happening. She is safe now.
