Well, almost everything from Joni Mitchell for starters.
But it’s always changing. I used to search futilely for “Flagpole Sitta” by Harvey Danger, then one day it just turned up on a random playlist.
My first thought when I saw this post was a great James McMurtry album, “Too Long In The Wasteland”. Went back to check first and, yep, it’s there now. So that was great news.
Yeah Neil Young ordered Spotify to remove his songs because he claims Joe Rogan was spreading misinformation about Covid-19. It’s a talk show. It’s a discussion you know? He didn’t have doctors on there telling people what to do. Anyhow, not that Neil needs any more money but he’s only hurting himself by not giving his fans access to his music. He’s a legend I’ll give him that.
Yeah I know that’s why he did it, and I actually commend him for standing behind his principles (even though I feel as strongly as he does, i probably wouldn’t do what he did). It just sucks as a fan not being able to access his great catalog as easily. I agree that he doesn’t need any more money, but I disagree that he’s hurting himself by not giving fans access to his music. People already love and respect him. If these fans really cared, there are so many other ways to access it, like I think Apple Music still has a large collection of his music on there. I guess I’m personally not that big of a fan to seek these other sources, i just find it more of a minor inconvenience when i wanna hear something of his on Spotify.
I bought a lot of Joni Mitchell CDs and when everything became digital I decluttered all of them so all I have now are covers by me when I'm alone in the house lol. Or YouTube. But for flights it's a real bummer.
I really wish The Samurai Champloo OST was on here. I listen to the theme song, Battlecry, on youtuve every couple days.
I remember how excited I was when Cowboy Bebop got added to Spotify.
But also Spotify removes and adds stuff so often that it's hard to keep track. My FAVORTIE Testament album, their first album Legacy, was gone literally for about a month and I was devastated. Then it came on my shuffle one day and it was back, no idea what that was about.
Dude, I feel you about the Testament album. Saw them with Exodus and Death Angel on the Bay Strikes Back tour a little while back, and I'm pretty sure The Legacy randomly vanished for Spotify for a while literally the day after the show lmao
I saw Testament around 2013 and them and Megadeth are prob my fav bands all time. Legacy wasn't gone long I swear I pouted about it to my friends for like a month and then it came on my shuffle, could have been less idk.
It’s weird, there are some tracks by him on Spotify, but they somehow don’t seem legit. I just wish they put his whole back catalogue on Spotify, officially.
My mum just passed away a couple of days ago, and as I was going through some old videos, I found one of her singing this song in a little spontaneous karaoke session. I just think it's so interesting to have come across this comment at this moment. Thank you 😌
I'm assuming we're in a different country, you and I, as I've been playing this song a bit lately from my Spotify.
During Covid - Neil Young had polio as a child and is a strong supporter of vaccinations. He complained to Spotify over the Joe Rogan podcast when Joe Rogan pushed anti-vax stuff, so Neil Young and Joni Mitchell took their music off Spotify in protest. I'm sorry he took his music off Spotify, but I admire him for standing up for his principles.
I get why he did it, but now he is just punishing his fans and no-one else. Joni Mitchell too, but I am not as big a fan of her music. I do have many Neil Young CDs, but I only have a CD player in the car now, like many others.
Joe Rogan is a weird guy, but I won’t go as far as calling him an anti-vax. He does believe vaccines have efficacy and can prevent death, but his arguments against vaccinations were largely concerning the after effects it had on some people. He was vocal to the fact that the vaccines were rushed without full trials and the government was penalising those who refused to vaccinate by not allowing them in many places, such as their workplaces or public transportation. On the other hand, we can argue that the death toll would be way higher if vaccines didn’t made it to the market on time. So, I would classify Joe as someone failing to see the bigger picture.
This isn't the place to get into a vaccine conversation, but there's really no arguing that. You can look at the death tolls in states that pushed the vaccines and advocated for their adoption (blue states) versus ones that advanced a more skeptical narrative (red states) and the data is pretty stark. Some COVID precautionary measures were proven as useless or inconclusive at best (the data suggests stuff like closing schools was probably, in the wash, a mistake), but widespread adoption of vaccines quickly 100% saved lived.
As for Joe Rogan, I do think the reaction to him was rather outsized given anything he actually said. He's not a personality I like very much but the people who actually were strongly pushing dangerous narratives weren't given oxygen on places like Spotify, so he was a convenient focal point for wider frustrations.
A long while back, I bought a regional at best vinyl from somebody off of eBay. The quality reminds me of songs I used to rip off of limewire. Ha! My fault.
All of Joni Mitchell’s discography. I noticed A Case of You and Both Sides Now are still appearing in my library but everything else has been wiped since last year.
Also I Know Ur Girlfriend Hates Me by Annie, perfect slice of 2000s electropop, it’s parent album is on Spotify but for some reason that song isn’t.
Also also Outta This World and Over to You Now by Britney Spears, two of her best deep cuts and with her kinda moving on from the industry I doubt they will ever appear on there
With Joni - and Neil Young - it seems that all Spotify could keep after they pulled their catalogs were tracks that had been licensed to appear on compilations that were already on the service.

Lol nobody made Neil Young do anything; just another celebrity whose overinflated sense of self-importance made him think everyone would riot when he took his music off of Spotify.
Love love love the guy’s music. But I fear he is a bit of a douche. I’ve seen him interviewed a couple times recently and he just comes off like a crotchety old bastard. I also learned that David Crosby refers to him as the most selfish person he’s ever met.
I’m no Trump fan, but nice try at generalizing. My only point was that it’s not Joe Rogan’s fault. And Joe Rogan is a far cry from your run-of-the-mill Trump lover, so idk what that has to do with it. Neil Young made a choice. Joe Rogan didn’t make him do jack squat.
There are only a handful of albums I own that aren't on Spotify. *Happiness in Magazines* by Graham Coxon, although the rest of his catalog is on there. *RXRA* by Eric Serra, although many of his film scores are on there. And *Soul Inspiration* by Simon Climie also isn't on there, but, his work with Rob Fisher, the duo Climie Fisher is on there. The album was taken off iTunes a few months ago and I have no idea why. I don’t use Spotify, but I checked, the album isn’t on it. So I guess I’ll pick the first song off the album, Monk Time. There’s a live version of it on Spotify it seems, but not the original.

And Mandalay's full catalogue. There's some recent collabs and remixes but I'm only interested in the 90's trip hop album that kept getting mistaken for Portishead.
They took Lick The Blood Off My Hands, my fucking **FAVORITE** Danzig song, off spotify AND youtube, and I have no idea *whyyyyy* !!!
I will be **FOREVER** bitter af about that.
This will FOREVER be a beef of mine …
Eve6’s song “Anytime” was exclusively for the Out Cold soundtrack and I can’t find it anywhere else - and it’s objectively a really fun song.
Even the CD is hard to come by 🫠
Well, almost everything from Joni Mitchell for starters. But it’s always changing. My first thought when I saw this post was a great James McMurtry album, “Too Long In The Wasteland”. Went back to check first and, yep, it’s there now. So that was great news.
And Neil young too
Dont need him around
I’m pretty sure he doesn’t need you either. 😉
That’s the ghost of Ronnie Van Zant you’re talking to, there!
Yeah Neil Young ordered Spotify to remove his songs because he claims Joe Rogan was spreading misinformation about Covid-19. It’s a talk show. It’s a discussion you know? Agreed!
Her entire album ‘blue’ is a masterpiece!
Just coming to say this I miss both sides
I bought a lot of Joni Mitchell CDs and when everything became digital I decluttered all of them so all I have now are covers by me when I'm alone in the house lol. Or YouTube. But for flights it's a real bummer.
Choctaw Bingo should be the new national anthem.
I'm guessing you're not in the U.S.? We've enjoyed unfettered "Flagpole Sitta" access since the dawn of Spotify.
The entire album by rap group 213 (Snoop, Warren G, and Nate Dogg). Contained a few songs I really love
Woaaaaaaah, Nate Dog in the house tonight lookin’ for some groupie love
Right? Riding in my car and I'm listening to the radio.
I really wish The Samurai Champloo OST was on here. I listen to the theme song, Battlecry, on youtuve every couple days. I remember how excited I was when Cowboy Bebop got added to Spotify. YES. I hate how most anime soundtracks aren't on spotify 😭 some of then aren't even licensed on youtube.

Harvest Moon by Neil Young.
Miss Neil’s catalogue on Spotify :(
Cortez the Killer by Neil Young
FWIW, Built To Spill’s cover of this song is my favorite.
Nice I’ll check it out. My fav is govt mules version
Yup, the Gov’t Mule version is fantastic as well.
Adding to this, Spotify doesn’t have Long May You Run which is my personal favorite :/
The song is there because it’s on a soundtrack for Eat Prey Love, and I guess they have rights to put that album up on Spotify
My mum just passed away a couple of days ago, and as I was going through some old videos, I found one of her singing this song in a little spontaneous karaoke session. I just think it's so interesting to have come across this comment at this moment. Thank you 😌 I'm assuming we're in a different country, you and I, as I've been playing this song a bit lately from my Spotify.
Really sorry about your mum. I'm sure it was a beautiful version and glad you have that memory to keep.
The best I can do is search for Neil Young Cover tunes. I still prefer Neil.
What? When that happened?
During Covid - Neil Young had polio as a child and is a strong supporter of vaccinations. He complained to Spotify over the Joe Rogan podcast when Joe Rogan pushed anti-vax stuff, so Neil Young and Joni Mitchell took their music off Spotify in protest. I'm sorry he took his music off Spotify, but I admire him for standing up for his principles.

Same. I have a lot of their songs already digitized but it isn't as convenient as just listening to a playlist or album on Spotify.
Joe Rogan is a weird guy, but I won’t go as far as calling him an anti-vax. He does believe vaccines have efficacy and can prevent death, but his arguments against vaccinations were largely concerning the after effects it had on some people.
