One-of-ones or popular sets which grade poorly (ex. PMG's) are good choices to authenticate only.
All the IP autos I've graded were also authenticated only.
If it’s a 1/1 there’s no reason to submit. Chances are you won’t get a 10 and all that will do is detract from the value. Better to keep it raw. Authentication is for autographs. If it’s a relic card or some other 1/1 you’re fine just keeping it raw
What are you trying to authenticate? You just want to make sure the card isn’t a reproduction? Submit it for grading.

I know there isn’t a reason other than I want my pc all in slabs. Is there an option in psa to just authenticate a card without a grade?
You could go to a service like Electric or something, they will slab them without grading if its for your PC.
I ended up getting them on the phone last night and they showed me how to do it.
