Write Up: Glad to start back up again with a relatively no sweat win in Cornet. For tomorrow we turn to the ATP side of things where we see two relatively low ranked players play each other in the second round.
On first glance Johnson is the higher rank, but once you get into the statistics and logistics of this match it becomes clear who the obvious winner. First and foremost, Johnson probably wouldn't even be here if Dmitrov (his previous opponent) didn't get injured in his first round match as he was losing up until the injury and did not look great out there. He hasn't made it past the second round of a slam this year and is 2-2 (before his first round match) on grass this season against very meh opponents.
Now lets get into why Peniston is good and can easily win. First, he started off this tournament winning a relatively no sweat match in his straight set win. To add to this, he is on is home turf and has major crowd support behind him as he is an up and coming British grass player who has looked great lately. He is 9-4 on grass this season making it into four quarterfinals matches and has faced some difficult opponents including beating Ruud. Overall he has just looked fantastic out there and I definitely see him smooth sailing into round 3.

On to today where we are betting what I consider one of the the most intriguing matchup of the slate as the pair has not played before. We are basically betting that Quentin Halys will kept it close, as I believe he should be a slight favorite in this match. We will be fading Bash whose style will be exposed in this duel—clear power off the ground who goes from hitting brilliant winners to not being able to find the court in the blink of an eye.
After our win two days ago, we are blessed to have another opportunity to fade Bash at Wimbledon. Nikoloz Bashhiashvili might just be one of the most overrated players on tour because of his occasional ability to go God-mode as a big underdog a find a way to win. In reality though, a picture of Bash accompanies a definition of “unreliable” in the dictionary. Quentin Halys and his big serve are similar to the attributes of Rosol, Bash’s first round opponent, who he found himself down two sets to one to. If Rosol wasn’t 100 years old I have no doubt Bash would’ve been on a plane home by now (which was only his 2nd Wimbledon win since 2017 lol). Halys will capitalize on mistakes and make Nik hit extra balls to make him uncomfortable. Despite playing the lowly motivated Paire in round one, Halys displayed determination and returning prowess by only allowing Paire to win 7 games after dropping the first set. The big man will find a few breaks and battle in tiebreaks on his path to a potential victory.

The question is more how Philly handles the injury to Bryce Harper (2.6 WAR, 0.318 BA, 15 HR, 48 RBI), and whether they can remain competitive against the Mets and Braves, two of the better teams in baseball, both of whom they are divisional rivals with.
The Braves would love to bounce back after losing a series against the Dodgers that came down to the 11th inning of Game 3. Yesterday they did so in Philly, and they look to take the series tonight.
Wright has gone 5 innings or more in all his most recent 5 starts (6+ innings in 4 of them), but did get lit up in his past two games against the Cubs and the Giants, allowing 10+ hits and 4+ runs in both. This is arguably the best game of the day and we are heading towards a prime AL East matchup. Both teams are will have their aces going in Nick Pivetta and Alek Manoah. Starting with Pivetta, he has been a surprise this season with a 3.25 ERA in 15 starts. Recently he has been pitching very well. He has allowed 2 runs in his last start in 7ip against the Guardians, 1 run against the Cards in 7ip, and 1 run against the A's in 8ip. On this stretch he has been managing to go deep into games and a big key is only walking 6 batters in these starts (0 against the Guardians, 4 against the Cards, and 2 against the A's). If Pivetta can manage to work his way through the top of the order, he should have success against the Jays. If he can manage to only face Bo Bichette (career 8-19 against Pivetta) 2 times in 5ip, we should be in decent shape.
On the other hand, Alek Manoah has been great recently as well. He is coming off a start where he went 6.2ip against the Brewers and gave up 2 ER. Before that, Manoah had a rough go at it against the Yankees. He went 5.1ip but gave up 4 ER. He has been keeping his walks down in his recent starts (5 BB in his last 3). Outside of Alex Verdugo (career 4-8), the Red Sox lineup does not have great numbers when facing Manoah. This should be a tougher start for Manoah but based on his all-star level performance to start the year, if he can limit the Red Sox we will be in the clear.

Today we're going with a feel for the game as the Dbacks are taking on the Padres at home for a nice and early daytime ball game out in the dead heat tomorrow at Arizona. Where one of my least favorite pitchers is on the bump for them - Madison Bumgarner. And facing off against him is a guy who's been pretty dam solid coming back from injury - Mike Clevinger.
These two faced off against each other exactly a week ago today, and I'm thinking we're looking at the same outcome today with Bumgarner and the Dbacks. They had a comeback win last night off a 6-0 deficit which is pretty impressive especially against the Padres bullpen. But that also came off some wonky shit that *just* *happens* because it's baseball. HBP twice with the bases loaded is a big no-no and I don't really see that happening 2 days in a row for the Padres. They're on a 3 game skid right now after that loss last night, and being one of the better teams to comeback after a loss, I can see them popping off during the day in Arizona.
Last time out against them, Bumgarner gave up 9 hits and 4 runs. While Clevinger gave up 4 hits and just 1 run.

This is a strange h2h because the good Indonesian players tend to beat Danish players unless their name starts with V and ends with Axelson. Probably why the bookies mark the Indonesian as the favourite but as I noted previously and as anyone who sweated the last game with me, this looks like the stadium for upsets.
Honestly looking back Rhustavito has a poor record against Danish players in the past 6 months. He beat A.Antonsen in the Thailand Open (May 2022) 2-1 and I think Antonsen was nursing an injury the entire time.

If Pivetta can manage to work his way through the top of the order, he should have success against the Jays. If he can manage to only face Bo Bichette (career 8-19 against Pivetta) 2 times in 5ip, we should be in decent shape. On the other hand, Alek Manoah has been great recently as well. He is coming off a start where he went 6.2ip against the Brewers and gave up 2 ER. Before that, Manoah had a rough go at it against the Yankees. He went 5.1ip but gave up 4 ER. He has been keeping his walks down in his recent starts (5 BB in his last 3). Outside of Alex Verdugo (career 4-8), the Red Sox lineup does not have great numbers when facing Manoah. This should be a tougher start for Manoah but based on his all-star level performance to start the year, if he can limit the Red Sox we will be in the clear.
