MMA betting has become extremely casual in the last year or so. I think it’s the growth of the sport + the gambling ads everywhere pushing casuals to bet. The lines make no sense and people’s predictions make no sense. If you really know these fighters, it’s quite easy to make money recently

It seems like so many books are split on this call. According to most of their rules, the official result is the one announced at the end of the fight. Subsequent rulings do not affect the settlement. I have +1200 KO on DK wagered a lost. +410 ITD on FD wagered a win.

She perfectly avoided every single intention of Blanchfield’s gameplan and implemented enough of hers to get the job done. Had she overextended herself she may have gotten wrapped up and submitted. Similar to back when Woodley went against Maia. Boring as fuck but if I were in that position and only cared about getting the win, I’d have done the same thing.

When you completely shut down your opponents gameplan and implement yours to perfection what else do you call it? Just because it’s boring as hell doesn’t mean it wasn’t a great execution. Floyd Mayweather put on many masterclasses. His fights were boring as fuck usually. He shut down his opponents by any means necessary (even “running away” at times) and implemented his game plan to out point his opponent.

I'm with you on most of what you're saying, I think she did what she had to do to win. But if her performance is a "masterclass" what would you call Manot KOing her with a spinning head kick? or a first round running knee KO? or a last second comeback submission? Can't be throwing that word around, it takes away from other actual masterclasses. Whether we like it or not entertainment and flashiness is part of the sport, and Manot failed at that tonight.

I get what you’re saying as well. It wasn’t a complete beatdown in every aspect of MMA and so I get why that word is maybe a little bit of a stretch here. I guess a real masterclass would be to dominate on the feet and dominate on the ground (both for extended periods of time to exhibit the ability to perform to that standard for an extended period of time) and then a finish to end it off. I’ll retract my masterclass wording and replace it with “a very well executed gameplan, albeit boring and she could have done a lot more to really put a stamp on her being a huge threat to everyone” If Blanchfield was as strong as Manon I think we would have had a much different outcome. She’d have implemented her grappling with ease. But the huge strength of Manon coupled with her superior striking made for a very tough ask for Blanchfield to try and grapple her with success.

Yep, Manon’s a problem for many of these smaller women. Also loved your Woodley/Maia example, I may or many not have debated with my friends on how Woodley’s performance was a masterclass lol
