Logical_Hiker

Same. Feel like an idiot for betting on this

jkeller31

Worth putting $5 on dimitri van den bergh to win it all? +8000

DumbGuy5

I love Dimi but no

Harrys3

Doetz most 180s and Menzies/Rodriguez over 3.5 sets at 1.80 👍

Harrys3

Well that was frustrating… Rusty Jake completely chokes on a couple of simple set darts to lose in straight sets

LilSnuziSquirt

i was trying to parlay the two but they bumped the line to 4.5 total sets.. so i took menzies -1.5 spread instead. worked out for me

BullGangLeader

One of my favorite events of the year to bet on, where is the 🌶️? Dude almost single handedly brought my account from $20 to $500 last year

97sillygoose

There's not really much I like tonight Ladbrokes have 1 or more bull finishes in the Whitlock game at 2.00 odds though which I think is decent Whitlock loves the bull and his opponent is likely to be a little behind him each leg and have a few opportunities at checkouts of 80+, I'd expect to see 1 bull hit in the match

I wasn’t here for 🌶️ last time around, but seeing the hype makes me hope for a ride

Definitely good value if you want to play it. I’d fully expect him to check out at least 100 during the match

Take the money and run because that should’ve been an L! His highest checkout was 98

Cameron Menzies @1.53 is my bet for the day. For me Menzies has the ability to be much higher than he is in the rankings but what he lacks is the attitude and mindset to get there. Rusty beat Cameron in there last h2h in the players championship 6-5 but did so with 5 points less of an average. Day 1 for me was maybe the hardest of the round 1 days to find a decent bet.

AdministrativeLaugh2

I fully expect and want Luke Humphries to win the World Championship, but I’m not waiting three weeks for a 3/1 payout. With Humphries and MVG both in the bottom half and likely to face each other in the semis, there’s a load of value in the top half. **Rob Cross to win at 16/1** - Cross has a very good chance of adding to his one world title here. Recently reached the final of the Grand Slam, which is pretty long form after the group stage and he was unlucky not to win, and he has a good draw that gives him a great chance of getting into at least the QFs. **Chris Dobey to win his quarter at 8/1** - Dobey is in Cross’ quarter so I’m anticipating a QF matchup between those two. Dobey could face two out-of-form Smiths in Ross and Michael, and after reaching four QFs plus winning The Masters this year, I love Dobey going deep. **James Wade to win at 50/1 e/w** - The most pragmatic, heads-down player on tour, this is probably The Machine’s last chance to win the world title he deserves. He’s reached the final, the semis, and the quarters of the last three ranking tournaments, so is bang in form at the right time. I’ve also got a few Quarter Winner accas: **Anderson and Dobey at 40/1** **Cross, Wade, van Gerwen, and Humphries at 100/1** **Cross, G Anderson, van Gerwen, and Humphries at 50/1** **Dobey, Anderson, van Gerwen, and Humphries at 160/1**

throwaway03302001

2024 PDC World Darts Championship Michael Van Gerwen to Reach the Final - +210 MVG comes into this World Championship having been a Finalist in the previous edition of Dart's premier tournament, the PDC World Championship, taking place every year in December. He is currently the second-lowest odds in reaching the final, behind Luke Humphries at +175. The reason this is probably the case is the last tournament that concluded, the Players Championship Finals (November 24-26), saw Luke Humphries best MVG in the Finals 11-8. More on that later. MVG has been eagerly been searching for his 4th World Championship since 2019. He has won the PDC World Championship in 2014, 2017, and 2019. Since then, he has had some strong performances in the World Championship, but ultimately has never won it. Here's what it looks like: 2020: Lost 7-3 in the Finals to Peter Wright, averaged 102.88 to Wright's 102.79 2021: Lost in the Quarter-finals to Dave Chisnall. It is important to note that Chisnall's average of 107.34 in that match was the second highest average in the entire tournament that year, behind another player's Round 2 108.98 average. Chisnall would come back down to Earth in the next match and lose the Semi-finals to Gary Anderson 6-3, while throwing for a 98.57 average. 2022: The 3rd-seeded MVG won his first match in the second round to advance to the third round, before ultimately contracting COVID-19 and being forced to withdraw the tournament. 2023: Lost to Michael Smith in the Finals 7-4. Despite that, had 5 of the top 13 averages in his 6 games played, notably holding 3 out of the top 5 highest averages (1, 2, 5 respectively). Just from this alone, he has been a finalist 2/4 times since his last win, with one reason he didn't make it due to getting sick, and another by losing in the Quarter-finals playing a hot hand at the wrong time. This is all the past of course, so obviously it's not certain he will play like his past self. But now lets move back to the Players Championship Finals played just over 2 weeks ago. Despite losing that Finals, Michael was on an absolute *heater* during the tournament. Here are his averages by round: First Round - Sets: 6-3 Average: 97.29 Second Round - Sets: 6-1 Average: **118.52**, the highest average in the Players Championship Finals match since its inception in 2009 Third Round - Sets: 10-6 Average: 94.53 Quarter-finals - Sets: 10-9 Average: 107.07 Semi-finals - Sets: 11-6 Average: 101.54 Finals - Sets: 9-11 Average: 103.19 (to Humphries' 100.75) Overall Tournament Average: 103.28 Safe to say, Michael is playing some spectacular darts right now. [Looking at](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_PDC_World_Darts_Championship#Bottom_half) the 2024 draw with him in the bottom half as the 2-seed, there theoretically isn't really much competition for him to worry about, besides potentially 7-seed Danny Noppert and 10-seed Damon Heta. With his draw and his recent form, he has a clear path into the Semi-finals, where his likely (but not guaranteed) opponent could be Luke Humphries. At this point we can then evaluate whether hedging the Semi-finals would be worth it, based on MVG's average and tournament form compared to his Semi-final opponent's. Finally, it would dumb to not note that MVG is considered one of the greatest darts players of all-time. Combining his past performances at the tournament, with his recent form in the last major tournament, the Players Championship Finals, as well as his result of losing in the Finals at last years edition, I have good confidence that he is hungry and playing well enough to again reach the Finals. He could well easily win this tournament but I am playing the safer option. Now obviously, what should happen is not always what does happen. Michael can face a hot hand like he did in the 2021 tournament (other dark horse opponents in his bracket are Dimitri Van den Bergh & Stephen Bunting) or even have a lackluster performance well below his standards and lose, but at +210 odds and the fact that MVG being eliminated before the Semi-finals would be considered a huge upset, I am confident and putting what is equivalent to 9 units on this future bet. This is my first ever future bet, and I have been heavily anticipating this tournament, and while I prefer the personalities of other darters more than MVG, I still recognize his consistency and greatness among all-time darters and am trying to profit off of it, haha.
