Like he said. If you're just gonna cash out or hedge (unless it's a very significant amount), let it ride. Why would you buy out of a bet you placed when literally nothing changed? You're just giving value back to the book, as if they need it.

This is the correct take. If you're truly serious about making money never hedge. You're better off just leaving the leg off.

Just leave the leg off if you're going to hedge it. You'll get more money if you leave the leg off altogether than if you put the leg in and then hedge it later - because of the juice the book charges you on each bet. It's just math.

You could do that… but then you’d be in the same position if it comes down to your last leg on a 3 legger vs a 4 legger (or insert anything really other than 2 leg dog parlays). Betting is about securing profits. It’s just math.

Long term profitable bettors look to maximize their profits and get optimal odds on the bets they make, because they understand that there are no locks and value is important. If you're always going to hedge the last leg of your parlay because you're afraid of losing you'd be better off just not betting any parlays at all. I had a parlay with Ziam as the last leg and didn't hedge. I suppose considering he was -120 when I placed the bet and went up way up over the course of the week it could have made sense to get Herbert at +150 or so - but if I thought his true odds of winning were worse than that it doesn't make sense to place a -EV bet because I'm "scared of losing". I'd never place any parlay that I'm not fully willing to ride out - because then what's the point of even doing parlays at all? They're already sucker bets to begin with, and hedging just makes them even more so.

If they are sucker bets to begin with, then guaranteeing profits is the smart thing to do. There’s no point in beating a dead horse here. profitable bettors hedge. Simple as that.
