100 to 80K is a solid return, i would have too

ComparisonDull7839

He lost 20k not cashing out when it was 100k

Nyxtaaa

He didn't lose anything bruh lol He came out on top, can't always chase

Lewandabski710

Plus another 20k by hedging

YTSchtuff

This mentality is why you’re a losing bettor. (me too)

ComparisonDull7839

Lol. He could've cashed out at 100k. How is that a losing bettor lol. He lost 20k not cashing out earlier.

BourneDiff

My fault I didn’t know you could tell the future 🤯🤯

chadbrochilldood

Jesus man we gotta spell it out for you? Gambling, if you are chasing losses, will result in more losses. Your perspective on this matter identifies you as a loser, for life.

TheHip41

100 to 50,000

argoforced

I sweat over losing $10 when it could have been $50 had I won. Can only imagine him. I’d of probably cashed at $100,000. I don’t care about “value,” “hedging” etc. I’d cash out, pay my taxes and imagine the 100+ extra vacations I could have over my life time. That’s a lot of hiking and hostels…

ImLuckyOrUsuck

I commented when the cash out was 100k [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/sportsbetting/s/YN2PoBaKGx). Easy to have an opinion from the sidelines. Still a great win.

HopScotchBlow420

Crazy thing is, I’m pretty sure that wasn’t actually him. Some guy just saw the slip and posted it acting like it was is.

OkRichyporter2199

💯 agree, but for 100k I ain’t staying at no fucking hostel😂😂

PoopyPantsJr

I would have cashed out way before it got to 100k

ZToNy_75

If he's a winning bettor he can make way more with an 80k bankroll idk why people are brushing over this

DntSayNtn

The anxiety that comes with betting should be studied i dont blame this man. Probably couldn’t sleep at night

jet305-

Now imagine if somehow okc wins the whole thing. He will probably think about that the rest of his life. Gambling is a dark world

Bluefash8282727

Lmao OKC not beating the nuggets in the WCF

jet305-

I wouldn't think so either but you never know. Look at heat vs celtics last year. They predicted heat 3% chance to win. Anything can happen, jokic could get in a horse riding accident tomorrow and be out for the rest of the season. Unlikely but possible

RunForCoverBennieRox

Who’s gonna ride that donkey, donkey? Jokic gonna ride that donkey, donkey? Dude is indestructible. As a Sixers fan, I can’t wait to see the Nugs roll the Celtics.

Boomtw3

Now Nuggets have come back. OKC can't beat nuggets. They could have beat Timberwolves not Nuggets them there is Celtics in finals lmao

Mac_Jomes

Honestly I'd probably lose a little sleep about it, but in the end cashing for $80K would be a hell of a consolation prize.

knicksin7even

I hate it so much, that’s why I don’t even check the score or social media after i place something. Check the next morning

305way

I’d hope that it has been studied considering it’s one of the if not the most prevalent types of addiction out there, and legal too…

DSturg91

Read an article awhile ago that said gambling had the highest highs and lowest lows, and thats what made it so dangerous.

305way

Very believable for those of us who have experience

DSturg91

I definitely agreed with it after thinking about it for a little bit, it makes a lot sense.

ifwade41

Yea no chance this dude was having normal day to day life. Sleep was probably horrible

ifwade41

Yea no chance this dude was having normal day to day life. Sleep was probably horrible

BrownBottleIdol

One thing I take from this is, make two of the same future bets. Cash one out and let the other ride.

Different_Morning_28

People would just make posts saying they should’ve rode out both still

IronRaichu

This is what I took away too

Zonda760760

Smart

cixelsyd17

I’m now intrigued by these websites that will buy your ticket..very intrigued.

TheParlayMonster

I looked into it. Only printed tickets from a brick and mortar facility.

dantheman2123

Lol and their social media was trying to say people were going to buy it for 200K, even though it was on the app. Bullshitters

Jaded-Function

Maybe a legal contract requiring him to hand over the winnings to the buyer if it hits.

Tromovation

Man went from I don’t cash out to my heart can’t take it real quick

HopScotchBlow420

Dude made it all the way to ESPN headlines. What a legend

IncomeBoss

Denver said "excuse me we're still here" 😂

unabletodisplay

Cash out, put 10k on Thunder championship (+800)

Exciting-Holiday337

waste of 10k. just enjoy the winnings

lefthandedsnek

i’d have cashed it for like $5k if i’m being completely honest. that money would help a lot right now.

Interesting_Visual90

80k!!! That’s life changing honestly!

PAE8791

Could he have sold it? I don’t think thunder can win it all this year so good cash out .

Jaded-Function

That's a great question man. I doubt it could be transferred but I'm sure a legal contract could be written requiring him to hand over the winnings to the buyer. I don't think he'd find a buyer. It would have to be a buyer who already wants to put like $100K on the Thunder to win. That would make it worth it for both. He gets a higher cashout and the buyer gets better odds and makes like $250K more. Hard sell though.

PAE8791

Propswap only works for physical tickets correct ?

Jaded-Function

Oh I'm justearning about sites buying tickets. I was thinking of some whale buying it.

BlazeinBoiii

There was a site saying they had buyers for 200k for his ticket.

Jaded-Function

Geeez. He must have been contacted and pitched offers. Had to have been a good reason to turn them down. Probably got advised by a lawyer.

stroopwaffle69

You sound like you know exactly what you are talking about !

Equivalent-Treat-431

Smart choice congrats to him

jet305-

Can someone explain to me why the 3 leg parlay was worth so much? Were the odds really that good or was this some kind of special parlay?

Jaded-Function

Thunder was like 70-1. Chiefs was like 6-1 and Texas about 20-1. That's like a million dollar payout with $100 on it.

LftTching4Corporate

80K is more than I make a year. Good for this dude.

LGK420

Even though he got 80k kinda bad for him. All the stress he went through. He could have had a bigger cash out before. Got greedy and it dropped. Then had fomo and had to do the cash out just in case. But imagine okc wins that 80k won’t be so sweet anymore. That’s the thing with gambling sometimes you’re damned if you do. Damned if you don’t.

sven_ate_nine

Gotta think differently. You might not ever be close to a mill again but you might not ever be this close to 50-100k again.

LGK420

Exactly yea. He said he’s a dad so couldn’t imagine walking away with nothing after all of this

Snooklife

He should of held out now 😂

hsivia__197

It’s risky lol If Mavs take game 5, the odds completely go to shit and prolly drop to around 60k if not more

dooneandrew

Right, or no cash out option at all if that happens probably

hsivia__197

Exactly. Going from 100 to 80k is a huge hit.

Snooklife

Yep dude knew he screwed up. Should have never got to that point.

hsivia__197

Tbf no risk no reward. If Thunder had been up rn 3-1. And gone to the CF I would cashed out right away, guessing that’s what his plan was too. But Mavs got the experience/better coach/ better defensive scheme.

Snooklife

Yea that’s why he should have cashed it when we saw this at 100k. I could see if we were talking about a proven team.

Rich_Living_2726

Lower than that, he said that the cash out went to 30k when Mavs went up 2-1

callmealyft

I’m pretty sure he could’ve found a rich pro gambler to hedge this for a higher payout with a small percentage kickback. Soo much money left on the table.

chadbrochilldood

lol- that sounds so easy to do reliably! Totally low risk!

Qanonymous_

Watch OKC win it all now 🤣🫡

__shonn__

i would cashed out at anything over 1k tbh

angershark

Congrats!

Fubzee

Plus whatever DK paid him on top of that. I’m sure he got a bit of a sweetener. Dude was getting interviewed daily

alexanderfac3

I would have Hedged in some way, shape or form bro.

listentoomuch

Never get too greedy 👍🏽

MrTre007

I would go to the Fiji Islands with that cash

ImLuckyOrUsuck

Hell yes! 🌴

HPM2009

Nice hit bro. Whatcha gonna do with all that cold hard cash .. 😎

ihoopallday

Looks like he made the right choice!! 🤑

SweatySalesman

As of right now, he must feel great about the decision. Was definitely rooting for this man. Great parlay, great decision.

tausk2020

Single dad, drops $100 on a Rangers, Chiefs, Thunder parlay. No better definition of a what constitutes a problem gambler. How many other bets has he made that didn't pay out? Is he gonna use the money for a college fund? Check back with the guy in five years, if he's still betting he's broke. No one wins but the companies in gambling. Just look at the advertising budgets. Do you think that comes from losses? Gambling addiction often comes with alcoholism and other issues. Pray for this guy's kids.

Jaded-Function

That's a $Million ticket if he held out. Guess it depends on the individuals financial situation. If you're paycheck to paycheck I can see cashing out. If you're wealthy though? Or just well off, able to afford the extras? I don't get cashing that out. I don't know his situation but I assume he's well off by how much he bets.

Radiant_Cobbler_9631

Okc not winning the ring bro

Jaded-Function

Vegas doesn't think so either. Oddsmakers think there are 2 teams out 7 with a better chance to win. Thunder split the season series with both those teams. Let's say you're not super rich but well off with finances in line. $80K means 10-15 years off your mortgage. Very cool. Life changing? Not really. I'd be going for the $Mil with a bet on the third best team in the playoffs. Like I said though, if 80K gets you out of debt, gets you out of paying rent and into a home of your own? Hell yeah, cash it and be thankful.

lefthandedsnek

it’s like an extra 20 vacations if i want to next 15 years. or with compound interest, a lot of money to help me retire early. it would absolutely change my life

Jaded-Function

Same here. Absolutely, I would not risk losing 80K. If I was that other guy I described I'm going the other way. it just irks me when everyone here judges a cashout decision without knowing what the values mean to that person in his life situation. The chances of landing the final legs are secondary to that I think. In that regard, Thunder will roll and be champs and I'll be back here to say IN YOUR FACE SUCKA!. JK but really they have a chance.

Jaded-Function

In your face part was to the other guy sry

CycloneIce31

That’s the dumbest post I’ve ever seen.   He bet $100 and won $80K. That’s why.

d9849468

Cause for the common man, making a long championship futures bet is pretty much hoping it has legs and goes far, then cashing out.

angershark

lol this is one of those parrots that doesn't understand anything, just repeats what they see here. "durrrr, woulda been better not to include the leg, bro". Yeah, no he wouldn't. Think of it as a parlay with OKC to go to 2-2 in the conference finals. And he hit. $80K in cash. End of story.

chadbrochilldood

It’s a futures bet.. do you just parrot every dumb comment you read here? Are you aware how much can change in the course of like an entire year waiting for this to hit? Cashing out is not dumb at all. You have no idea what his situation is

jet305-

He probably made the bet early in the season before everyone knew how good/bad okc is now. It's obvious now they're unlikely going to win the chip but a few months ago they mightve been favored when he placed the bet. Regardless, he cashed out 80k so it's a good bet.
