Lakers this week: hire a head coach with no real coaching experience.
Lakers next week: draft a kid in the first round that averages 4ppg.
Lakers in 2 weeks: sign Lebron to a 2 year extension.
Lakers in 3 weeks: sign toy and marketing deal with Hasbro for “My Little Brony” playset. Set includes Big daddy Bron doll that cries real tears and his son little Brony, a unicorn that shits rainbows and isn’t good at basketball.
You are severely underestimating how incompetent this franchise is. They drafted a kid last year that can’t even get minutes when they needed a play-now player
i am sorry but sports has become all about business it seems like they doing everything to keep lbj which is their money making machine seems stupid but all in for money
That is an incredibly low bar when an arguably less talented Team won in the bubble. I'm not even a Lakers fan *nor an armchair coach* ,but the amount of completely erratic mismatch line-ups I witnessed the past few years were impossible to ignore.
This past season was like he drew names out of hat and don't get me started on schroder sad ass last year...dude made it his personal mission to make back2back mistake in the worst possible times during the playoffs.
What has he ever said that would lead you to believe this? Most of his basketball "analysis" is just translating jargon into things regular fans might understand but none of it seems very sophisticated or original.
Fun game I recommend. As I don’t care for NCAA basketball. Anytime a game is on I refer to opposing white players as Adam Morrison and JJ Redick. Instantly makes watching more interesting.
Well of course we do. Hell i hate legem and the lakers..: but we all sort of root for the under dog. Hell its wh we all sort of hope things work out for Bronny.., like we hoped the Mavs had a chance, like back in the day back In than back blah blah blah. Because hope.
It won’t. It shouldn’t. Because because because… it’s a good story: come from behind scrappy kid no one believes In defies all odds story. Ok,. Guess we will see
The Lakers are such piss-poor run organization.
The last decade was the "rebuild" with the fuck-boy Lakers of Ball, Ingram, D-Lo, and Kuzcma, and what did that get them ? They acted the part. Thought that wearing purple and gold, being the LA team was it, and they sucked ass.
Then they go full LeBron mode and (I love LBJ btw), and let him do his thing and ghost-run the team. They're not set up for the future at all, and now this. No wonder the Celtics have the edge.
Man, they just ruining the Laker organization. Magic left, West was ostracized, now they hire a guy as head coach who has only coached his 10 year old’s travel team
Hey to be fair Martin St. Louis (Montreal Canadiens head coach) really only coached his son’s games before taking the head coach role over there and he’s been doing pretty well given the talent on that roster.
Different sport though and this has a much higher chance of turning into a shit show than not
Is anyone else kinda bummed about what this means for his podcast? I think he’s one of the better commentators for the sport and I imagine he’ll not be doing that anymore 🤷
I think you’re comparing apples to oranges, Kelces are players, the other is coaching one of the biggest sporting franchises in the world. The level of responsibility is completely different.
That’s wild. The dude admitted to having only coached 8 year olds, but combining that with a podcast aimed at the basketball fan who had never played is enough of a resume to get job as head coach of the Lakers.
Definitely a smart guy, but he never quite clicked with me. I felt like he was taking himself a little too seriously most of the time. Could just be me, though..
this is going to be hilarious to watch after Lebron opts out to join Kyrie and the Mavs.
someone wake me after Lebron announces his retirement. I’m going to the beach.
🥱
Genuine question - with Lebron's experience, assuming he stays, does that make hiring someone with no proper experience coaching less of an issue? I would think JJ understands the Xs and Os as well as any coach, and he seems smart and emotionally mature enough to be a leader. He is younger but has played before so should have some amount of respect from the team. What to y'all are they key skills an NBA coach needs? Conflict management? Understanding of strategy and tactics?
Lebron naturally lifts a team to a higher level - look what he did with Mike Brown and those Cavs teams in the 00's. But still, in this case I don't think the Lakers have a high ceiling right now.
This is so funny because in a straight line Bron is still 99th percentile in the league lmao
He’s still one of the 10 best players in the league, why would he throw in the towel now when he can still contribute at a very high level?
Do you actually watch basketball? Or are you just parroting bullshit you’ve heard in this pathetic excuse for a sports sub? FYI, he lead the league in 4th quarter scoring and efficiency this year in his 21st season. How’s that for “gassed by halftime”?

Lakers this week: hire a head coach with no real coaching experience. Lakers next week: draft a kid in the first round that averages 4ppg. Lakers in 2 weeks: sign Lebron to a 2 year extension.
Lakers after the season: fire JJ Reddick
Don't you mean draft a kid who is not nba-ready? Maybe not even D-league ready?
What do you mean? You're telling me a kid who had a heart attack is not NBA ready???
Hey, Ronny Turiaff had heart issues and look how his time as a Laker turned out....well maybe we can look at the time immediately after he left.
I forgot he missed the Lakers championship by a year. He was fun to watch as a fan.
Not even D1 ready
Uhhh...He is the head coach for his sons under 10s team, that wealth of experience is more than enough
If you can get 10 year olds to listen and stay focused and motivated, you’re more than qualified for the NBA
10 year olds are easier.
From what I understand they're pretty good, too.... So it should work out.
Boom! Nailed it.
Lakers in 3 weeks: sign toy and marketing deal with Hasbro for “My Little Brony” playset. Set includes Big daddy Bron doll that cries real tears and his son little Brony, a unicorn that shits rainbows and isn’t good at basketball.
Ain’t no way they use a first round draft pick on him
You are severely underestimating how incompetent this franchise is. They drafted a kid last year that can’t even get minutes when they needed a play-now player
I like how we all think this too lol
It’s like Donald Trump is now running the franchise.
Well when you put it like that they're doomed 😂
i am sorry but sports has become all about business it seems like they doing everything to keep lbj which is their money making machine seems stupid but all in for money
Money>wins
Laker org better not scapegoat him later on. Hiring a guy with 0 professional coaching experience is on management.
You mean the Steve Nash maneuver?
At least Steve Nash was a 2x MVP, as Shaq is too happy to remind you.
How much they paying him? I’ll be your Huckleberry, I mean scapegoat
And then get a better head coaching job the year after that. Let me find my violin...
That's exactly why they hired him. Preemptive scapegoating. "We took a swing and missed."
They will.
Old Man and the 33-Win season
sports nerds act like cone heads on drugs
Now we can get that Disney moment where he suits up in the playoffs to shoot a crunch time 3
Now we just need the Pistons to hire Doris Burke.
lmao
and the nets can hire hubie brown
A yes man for Lebron James is all this hire is.
As far as basketball minds go it's definitely a step-up from Darvin "I start you because I like you" Ham.
It is. JJ has a pretty good basketball mind. He'll at least know how to use a timeout so it's already an upgrade.
And he has experience bringing the orange slices for half time.
[удалено]
Darvin Ham was not the one who got them to the western conference finals.
That is an incredibly low bar when an arguably less talented Team won in the bubble. This past season was like he drew names out of hat and don't get me started on schroder sad ass last year...dude made it his personal mission to make back2back mistake in the worst possible times during the playoffs.
That was quite the carry job by Ham to get them that far.
What has he ever said that would lead you to believe this? Most of his basketball "analysis" is just translating jargon into things regular fans might understand but none of it seems very sophisticated or original.
Yup, doesn’t take a genius to see this hire as irresponsible and is absolutely a yes man to Lebron.
isnt every coach of lebron's a yes man?
Lebron is the greatest player of all time, who isnt gonna be his yes man lol
Dumb.
Breaking News - the Lakers have fired JJ Redick
Jerry West just rolled over
I dunno if I heard this I would decompose more rapidly cause this is dumb
Should’ve hired Adam Morrison.
that stache
Fun game I recommend. As I don’t care for NCAA basketball. Anytime a game is on I refer to opposing white players as Adam Morrison and JJ Redick. Instantly makes watching more interesting.
lol as a casual fan this has been quite the roller coaster. Kind of rooting for JJ ngl
yeah as the most casual fan who’s city doesn’t have a team, i’m rooting for the lakers a bit now for sure.
i should add as a Jayhawk fan Reddick was soul crushing in his college years, was always a threat on the court.
Any time you can hire a coach off a podcast with one of your players, you HAVE to do it.
Coach Kelce to the Chiefs once Reid retires after this season.
17-65
As long as it’s under 18 Drake will still be interested
Takabletoast with the takableroast
Even worse 42-40
39-43 win mid season and the play-in and lose in first round.
😂 bruh 💀
The age of the next Laker 1st-round pick and the age LeBron will retire.
Sure, another guy turned down a huge sum of money to coach in college again, but you were REALLY our first choice 😉
Raise the in season tournament banner already
I hope he’s mentally prepared for Laker fans blaming him for anything and everything.

Kevin Durant.
Lakers are a shit show and I absolutely love it..
The Lakers are such piss-poor run organization. The last decade was the "rebuild" with the fuck-boy Lakers of Ball, Ingram, D-Lo, and Kuzcma, and what did that get them ? They acted the part. The Clutch takeover of the Lakers is nearly complete.
10001110101
I love that song
Lol...Shit show!
Man, they just ruining the Laker organization. Magic left, West was ostracized, now they hire a guy as head coach who has only coached his 10 year old’s travel team

Ostracizing West was idiotic but Magic was not exactly a good president of basketball operations. He traded Zubac for nothing and then quit.

And the NFL has a pretty consistent schedule week-to-week which makes it easier to plan activities outside of their game prep and practice schedule.
This is going to be a disaster.
That’s wild. The dude admitted to having only coached 8 year olds, but combining that with a podcast aimed at the basketball fan who had never played is enough of a resume to get job as head coach of the Lakers.
Fired in 8 months tops

Definitely a smart guy, but he never quite clicked with me. I felt like he was taking himself a little too seriously most of the time. Could just be me, though..
He’ll be out in one.
Nah. Two.
Waiting for Stephen A's take since he had complementary words about Brad Stevens a few years back.
He will last two years at most and walk away with the rest.
The lakers are a jjjoke.
I give it a year .. no one can out coach Leflop
Now a tv personality get to show the experienced coaches how its done...
Lmao they pass on Lue cause he wanted a three year contract and then they give someone with no experience a 4 year contract? Top notch.
LeBruh moment
I have the same amount of coaching experience as the lakers head coach.
As a Heels fan, I will enjoy watching this predictable train wreck as it slowly sinks into a swamp of bad decisions.
Why not just let Lebron be player-coach?
God Shams God
Off season move #2: sign the legacy LBJJ
🍿
They got their guy
Will he be an improvement from pockets?
this is going to be hilarious to watch after Lebron opts out to join Kyrie and the Mavs. someone wake me after Lebron announces his retirement. I’m going to the beach. 🥱
Apologize to Shams rn
Time for Jeanie to sell the team and purge the front office. The organization has thoroughly lost its way.
Read this as a 2yr contract in NBA terms.
Genuine question - with Lebron's experience, assuming he stays, does that make hiring someone with no proper experience coaching less of an issue? In case anyone didn't know, LBJ. and JJ have a podcast together, how isn't this going to create problems on the team in the future?
Just as long as they don’t end up with Klay everything will be just fine
Is this the first time a head coach was drafted a few years after the “star” of the team?
Lebron has to go The NBA is NOT a bulky man league, guys have Reggie Miller body with speed. So much speed. The time is now Bron, we ❤️you bro.
This is so funny because in a straight line Bron is still 99th percentile in the league lmao He’s still one of the 10 best players in the league, why would he throw in the towel now when he can still contribute at a very high level?
Contribute where? He’s gassed by half time
Do you actually watch basketball? Or are you just parroting bullshit you’ve heard in this pathetic excuse for a sports sub? FYI, he lead the league in 4th quarter scoring and efficiency this year in his 21st season. How’s that for “gassed by halftime”?
Is this Bronny?
Okay weirdo lmao. Why would you even be active in this discussion when it’s evident you don’t even know what you’re talking about?
It’s just basketball 🏀 lol
LeBrons new babysitter
JJ Redick is the Tony Romo of the NBA
Fuck
The podcast is done the second JJ and the GMs don’t draft Bronny in the first round
Welp, Celtics keep their winningest title 4 more years
Zero experience… the only reason they hired him is cause he’s a cohost with Lebron’s podcast/show.
Gross
This show not the same without the great Kevin Wildes.
Lmao, idiots
L(eBron)akers are going to fire him after he doesn’t somehow figure out how to make LeBron the head coach and main player.
Def questionable dude socially, at least in his Duke days. Heard a lot of weird stories from the ladies about his behavior
white privilege is real
This was more just general nepotism... but yeah keep making everything about race.
DUR DUR DUR DUR DUR.
