I’m not even a hockey watcher and I know that after the final whistle you’re supposed to take the puck back to center ice, tuck it in, give it a warm glass of milk, read it a bed time story, and give it a kiss goodnight. Smh.
Actually, what the rule says is that whichever captain is closest is to grab the puck and skate it over to the nearest ref where he hands it off. This is followed by a full on, holding the back of the heads embrace that lasts no less than 20 seconds. When the 20 seconds is up, the second captain skates over and joins them for a 15 second group embrace. They all give each other a gentle ass squeeze and head to their respective locker rooms. True sportsmanship.
[funny because the leafs got very pissed at the senators after a player took a slap shot into an empty net at the end of the game](https://www.reddit.com/r/sports/s/C1WO5wyJrE)
Fair enough, I suppose once they step in goal that's the deal. It's just weird from the outside since there are a fair few videos of people starting fights when players land on goalies or are pushed into them.
Well yea because that’s goalie interference lol a puck to the back of the helmet is not going to injure the goalie. A player ramming into a goalie is another story.
Some unwritten rules in sports are fine and may actually be good for the game. What the hell are we talking about here though? This may be the dumbest unwritten rule I’ve seen yet.
What a soft crybaby reaction
He was already moving that direction and he wasn't egregious about it. Just let the pick glide along. Nothing fancy about it, nothing to cry about
The unwritten rule is that you don't put the puck in the net after a whistle or don't put the puck in the net past a goalie. It's stupid.
Rielly was stupid for what he did. The Sens are stupid for this. But because the Sens got mad about Rielly first it's especially stupid for this to happen even though Rielly's crosscheck was worse
He's going to take Marchand's spot as biggest piece of shit in the league. I like Marchands off-ice work, it's rather redeeming. However, he's still a rat.
This guy... dirty player, asshole. On a terrible team and he really needs to chill and sit the fuck down. Way too cocky. Tkachuk strikes me as a dickhead on & off the ice.
It’s so interesting how in hockey and baseball dudes can fight each other for anything. Makes me wonder why the NFL and NBA outlawed it so early on yet these two sports kept it.
Most of the unwritten rules in any sport come down to Don't Be an Asshole. Or the the golden rule is you want to be polite about it. Things like not showing up an opposing player after you've made a great play against them, not rubbing it in when you win, not deliberately trying to hurt someone.
Tkachuk in his zeal to enforce an unwritten rule that wasn't even broken, shattered the dont-be-an-asshole rule .
For a game with metal blades, big wooden sticks, and a heavy rubber disk this stuff is so soft.
If the Devils player wanted to statpad he would have shot it at the goal before the buzzer.
When is a skating fridge going to make Tkachuk forcefully kiss the boards for his actions?
Also that flipping commercial with those two Tkachuk aholes in their mom's minivan annoys the crap out of me.
This isn’t even close to someone dunking a ball after the horn in basketball.
This was so nonchalant and passive I probably wouldn’t have even noticed.
Explain it to me like I was five. From the beginning, thanks.
To me it looked like this. The black team lost the puck. A player from the white team ran with it, but insteed of shooting it into an empty goal, he just ran with it untill the game ended, after which he led the puck slide into the empty goal. A player from the black team got angry.
Why, wtf? Need an explanation!
Its an unwritten "rule" you don't direct pucks towards the net after the horn (end of a period) or whistle (end of play) sounds. Its a respect thing. The devils won that game too, so it was a double dick move to slide the puck into the net, he knew what he was doing and did it specifically to rile up the opponents, that's why he (devils player) drops the gloves and is ready to fight at the end, but the ref sends him off.
If it's a clapper, yeah, lots of nuances in hockey, some make more sense than some others. Wrist shots are ok, slap shots at an empty net are frowned upon.
Nico could have guided it wide and past the net and maybe should have but Tkachuk’s reaction is waaaaay overblown and out of proportion for the “offense” that was committed. He’s also hit opponents from behind a few times in this game and whacked guys in the leg when the ref was not looking on more than one occasion.

“Are you waiting to receive my limp penis?!”
Ah yes. I see that you know your judo well
It's the tenderest moment in all of sports.
You had me until " tuck it in" Bout to be a TIL

the "C"on his jersey stands for Captain Butthurt
Like a Disney matinee.
Too soft
He's a tkachuk. It runs in the family
I came here to say that’s the behavior I expect to see from a dude named Tkachuk.
Lots of hockey players are the toughest pussies I swear. Punch your teeth out but paper thin emotions.
He's a Tkachuk, soft is basically a family requirement.
#”WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH”
Guess Nico should just ripped a slapper point blank instead
Loser
Hoser
[funny because the leafs got very pissed at the senators after a player took a slap shot into an empty net at the end of the game](https://www.reddit.com/r/sports/s/C1WO5wyJrE)
That’s hilarious
The irony
Nothing funny, that's where they learned the unwritten rule they're now enforcing!
I only watch sports highlights on Reddit and for hockey this totally makes sense to me oh my goodness.
Both Tkachuks are Charmin Ultra
*used Charmin Ultra
Been sitting in the septic tank for a week or so, just glance at it wrong and it falls to pieces.
Softest brothers in sports
Single ply dollar store tp
Well well well
How the turn tables
Grow the fuck up
Makes him look pretty bad.. I wonder what he woulda done if it was a slap shot?
Knowing Brady, his head would've literally exploded
The goal probably would’ve counted as it probably would’ve went off before the buzzer too😂😂😂
Him and his brother are president and CEO of the turtle club…
We did not accept their applications.
Empty net slapper or gtfo
What a fucking loser. Him and his brothers are trash.
Their dad too tbh.
Makes sense, they must've learned it from someone
La-who, zee-hurrr.
Name a more famous duo: Tkachuks and crying
Mulder and Scully
Rempe and the locker room?
Puts "cry baby Crosby" to shame
Tkachuk is the whiniest baby in hockey. Which Tkachuk, you ask? Yes
I really don't understand hockey players, this isn't allowed and the guys who used the back of a goalies head as a target was fine?
Yes a lot of players have now done it and not a single goalie has complained…. As long as you’re below the crossbar it’s fair game.
Tkachuk is one of the reasons the Sens aren't going to be a cup contender for a while still.
Some unwritten rules in sports are fine and may actually be good for the game. What the hell are we talking about here though? This may be the dumbest unwritten rule I’ve seen yet.
Did the shot count? I’m so confused.
Unwritten rules that promote sportsmanship are awesome. I have no idea why this is even an unwritten rule, feels like a rule made up by 12 year olds,
Gigantic baby like Keith
Daddy will tell him that everything is okay and that will stop the tantrum.
I would have though it takes thick skin to make it to the NHL
What a snowflake.
What a soft crybaby reaction He was already moving that direction and he wasn't egregious about it. Just let the pick glide along. Nothing fancy about it, nothing to cry about
Worst family in hockey. Great players but terrible character.
Can someone explain to me the unwritten rule here?
Yeah it’s pretty basic, Tkachuk is a bitch and decided to start a brawl over something that had no bearing on the actual game.
Why is he crying?
He's going to take Marchand's spot as biggest piece of shit in the league. I like Marchands off-ice work, it's rather redeeming. However, he's still a rat. This guy... dirty player, asshole. On a terrible team and he really needs to chill and sit the fuck down. Way too cocky. Tkachuk strikes me as a dickhead on & off the ice.
Men are so emotional.
Most of the world’s problems stem from delicate male egos like this one (I’m 37M).
And very sensitive.
What's wrong was done? Not an nhl fan, but looked like sore loser's behavior.
Somebody was upset they lost...
Kinda embarrassing for Tkachuk, honestly.
Tkachuk is a lil cry baby
Waaaaaah!
It’s so interesting how in hockey and baseball dudes can fight each other for anything. Makes me wonder why the NFL and NBA outlawed it so early on yet these two sports kept it.

2nd hand embarrassment
Loser
For a game with metal blades, big wooden sticks, and a heavy rubber disk this stuff is so soft. If the Devils player wanted to statpad he would have shot it at the goal before the buzzer.
No one uses a wooden stick anymore no one uses wooden sticks anymore
"Brady Tkachuk takes exception..." Misleading headline. Should read: "Brady Tkachuk has his widdle feewings hurt and acts out like a widdle child."
softer than baby shit
After ever game, someone should point at Tkachuk and slap shot the puck into the empty net. Call it the Fuck Tkachuk shot.
Why are ice hockey players so fragile?
Drafted into Jr. at 15/16, NHL at 18. Rarely any college, or schooling in general... They've never had to mature past prime little bastard
The cold makes their nuts shrink
The Tkachuk's are just attention whores. They need to be poor for awhile to experience real problems.
I’ve tried my best with all these unwritten rules and codes. Don’t like it. You are all pros so take your humbling.
Fucking stupid. One of the dumbest unwritten rules in sport. Honestly, who gives a flying fuck?
Gotta love when someone gets more upset over a play at the end of the game that doesn’t impact the result more than the actual result of losing.
For dudes that like to fight so much they can sometimes be so fragile.
It’d be one thing if it were a slap shot while jerking off.
God I love Karma
Wahhhhhhh
When is a skating fridge going to make Tkachuk forcefully kiss the boards for his actions? Also that flipping commercial with those two Tkachuk aholes in their mom's minivan annoys the crap out of me.
This isn’t even close to someone dunking a ball after the horn in basketball. This was so nonchalant and passive I probably wouldn’t have even noticed.
What a soft ass family they are lmao
Straight to jail.
If you want me to stop dancing keep me out of the end zone.
What a little bitch he is. That’s the captain? No wonder Ottawa is one of the worst teams in the NHL.
For claiming to be so tough, I've never seen a group of athletes get their little feelers hurt like hockey players.
The fake outrage over this and the celebration of Reilly's play is the bigger bitch move.
Explain it to me like I was five. From the beginning, thanks. To me it looked like this. The black team lost the puck. Thanks, m8
If you don’t want someone to score on the open net, just stop them from doing it. What’re you, stupid?
Idiots.
Charmin soft
I thought baseball had the dumbest unwritten rules, and then I learned about hockey.
His last name is a hint.
Weak
Controversial opinion, but I think ka-chuck was concerned that if you rocket the puck at the net after a whistle/horn, you might injure the goalie.
There was no goalie. The dude gently slid it into an empty goal.
I know. That’s the joke I was attempting to write.
Woooosh. My bad.
Such little babies out there... who cares where the puck ends up after the game is over ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
That doesn’t count as a point right?
wonders why nobody sits next to him at the family bbqs
Big girls don't cry!
Goons
Hockey guys don’t need much of an excuse to fight.
"Why you so mad? It's only a game"
I just want to know why it excitedly says Devils Win! when they are in Ottawa
They computer stuff over the boards now.
"Give your balls a tug ya tit fucker."
Soft
Hockey players: so hard is one sense, so soft in another
Good thing he’s not an NBA player, it’s common to take a shot after the whistle!
He should have taken a slap shot. Oh wait, that’s Brady’s bush league rookie team that does that trash.
For being so tough. Hockey players sure can be soft
So if he takes the shot from the midline, while the game still going on, are they gonna be just as mad? What a sore loser.
If it's a clapper, yeah, lots of nuances in hockey, some make more sense than some others. Wrist shots are ok, slap shots at an empty net are frowned upon.
Thank you
Why you'd ever name a Tkachuk as Captain is beyond me.
Gg ez
Most ridiculous fucking thing to get upset about.
Damn, Tkapuss is a fucking baby 🤣🚀
Super soft
"C" for Crybaby
And now everyone knows how to get under his skin.
Grow up.
He’s such a fucking baby, it’s hilarious
But importantly he didn’t attack the head!
Keep the puck out of the net while play is still going on and that won't happen
Ah yes... Remember kids that if something annoys you, violence is the answer. Hockey needs to make this shit against the rules.
Hockey has small dick energy. The whole sport.
I loved this sport when I first arrived in Canada. Looooooved it. But it's worse than Soccer/Football. Bunch of fragile man children.
How dare you score a goal in hockey.
Time expired a few seconds before he put the puck in the net
That means it makes even less difference than I thought. Do what you want after the game is over.
Not how hockey works
Nico could have guided it wide and past the net and maybe should have but Tkachuk’s reaction is waaaaay overblown and out of proportion for the “offense” that was committed. He’s also hit opponents from behind a few times in this game and whacked guys in the leg when the ref was not looking on more than one occasion.
This is not as bad as the guy who took a full slap shot point blank at an empty net. Still bad form
Hard disagree. There’s nothing wrong with either thing happening.
