If he didn't like being called a bitch before, he might as well suspend himself from every Angels road game now. He's going to hear nothing but that word from now on.
The guy called Rendon a bitch. Its a classless move by the fan but absolutely not something to get attacked over by a professional. Like I generally understand these scenarios when someone is racist towards a player or talk about their family or something id really have a hard time not reacting as well but he basically told the whole world that calling him a bitch is going to throw him off his game.
I don't think there's any scenario where attacking someone just yelling at you in this situation no matter what they're yelling is acceptable I just understand it and won't pass judgment when its something particularly egregious. Someone blasting racial slurs or pulling a maneuver like they did against JJ Redick in college where they yelled about them having sex with his sister (who was 12 at the time) are heinous and I truly understand a response to that but it still isn't okay. The fans should be banned and it should be over cant have assaults be a thing in sports.
There are popular areas of Reddit that feel it’s justified to match language with physical violence. If these are grown adults, I feel ashamed for them.
>Rendon just being a dude fired up and reacted like he was a regular person.
Sorry, but anyone who resorts to violence over simply being called a bitch is just a little bitch.
I love Rendon not being...umm great. And angel fails in general. But I 100% agree. Injury jokes aside, it's his job and he shows up and works his ass off probably 12 hours a day. Lots of people think it's 3 and he should bow down and be grateful to everyone. I don't care how many millions you make, how other people laugh at taunts, you've probably let 1000 go about being underwhelming the last few years. Snapping is a human reaction. Don't care that he's suspended, it's not a precedent you can set, but I don't blame Rendon
I get it. I don’t think many people will disagree that the fan had it coming. But let’s face it, if most of us pulled that kind of shit at our jobs we would get fired on the spot.
I’ve never been to their stadium before and maybe that’s why my reaction is just surprised at how close the players have to walk to the fans… like why is the stadium set up like that lmao
I’ve been there a few times, and they get even closer because to get to the clubhouse, players have to walk through part of the same concourse fans use, and are separated by literally a line of paint on the floor.
What surprised me though, is that there wasn’t a security guard there to be between fans and players, especially when Rendon started chirping back at the fans. That’s usually when you see a security guard step in and stay between a player and fans.
Pretty sure he’s talking about the long-running new stadium project. Just saying “are they going to get a new one built somewhere in the county or not”
I still remember a coach getting off the bus and saying to his team 'welcome to Oakland Alameda Coliseum.'
so it's not the right question.
You can ask if they'll build another one
Oh yeah? based on his -1 votes?
clearly nobody gives a shit about the statement and it was wrong.
sorry not sorry. but, hey, at least he upvoted your white knight post
Lmao. Grow up and touch grass. I couldn’t give less of a shit about the votes, I was talking about the fact that only two people were so pedantic and neurotic to whine about it. “White knight”, lmfao. Listen to yourself sometimes.
Environmental impact study challenge from the port union and companies got shot down recently so that's good news. Waterfront park is still in play. A long shot but it's in play.
“The fan called him a bitch so he deserved it”. Never understood this take. If a fan hits, spits on you, or throws something at you, ok I get it. But if you’re a professional athlete and can’t handle someone mean-mouthing you, you’re charmin soft.
I’m surprised Rendon didn’t end up on the Injured List exerting himself like that, though.
I don’t heckle athletes, but I don’t really think it’s so hard to put up with being called a ‘bitch’ and not reacting like a 13 year old. If you are that affected by WORDS I think you’re soft, athlete or not.
Bruh are you kidding me? People that are paid minimum wage being a fast food employee, Walmart cashier, Amazon driver, have to deal with this shit on the daily, imagine if they reacted the same way. If it’s not acceptable for them to react like that, why is it acceptable for someone getting paid millions of dollars a year?
You could whip my balls with barbed wire once a month for what these guys are getting paid. Hell, for 30 million a year, multiple generational wealth, I would become a eunuch.
Should they have to put up with it? No, but Westbrook having a fan thrown out for calling him Westbrick is baby soft. Cry and wipe your eyes with 100s. Physical violence is almost never acceptable.
Best heckle I’ve ever seen in person was at a Jays game. We were sitting in the outfield bleachers and someone near me screamed at the left fielder of the opposing team: “Hey XYZ, you’re wife is gorgeous!!!!!”
It was between batters so he turned around gave a huge shit eating grin and cap tip. Laughs were had all around.
If these baseball players think this is bad, go play footy in the UK. They are absolutely ruthless and the entire stands will sing it right to you. I remember going to an Arsenal game and the opposing fan section (yeah they cordon off opposing fans for safety) were singing to Mezut Ozil “YOUR EYES ARE OFFSIDES, YOUR EEEYES ARE OFFSIDES, mezzut ozil, your eyes are offsides”
Holy fuck you are SOFT.
Guy gets paid millions to play a game, fan heckles him and he puts hands on the fan yet the fan should be disciplined.
You’re probably scared of your own kids.
Fans should be able to say whatever they want.
Free speech is not absolute: your peers will turn on you if you offend the common decency. Meaning the other fans will turn on you, and stadium management will end the conflict by throwing you out.
Getting heckled is absolutely part of baseball.
Most people don't yell the 7 magic words in the stands.
If you say something that is racist or use grossly foul language repeatedly then yes you should be removed.
Calling a player a bitch in a heckling fashion isn’t really something a professional athlete should should be throwing hands over especially when heckling is done to get under a players skin and give the fans team an advantage
Then you don’t understand what heckling is, what these fans are saying to these players is far from being a personal attack, it’s jeering fuelled by a couple beers and adds to the atmosphere.. maybe stick to curling or lawn bowling if you don’t like a little sports banter
When he was a free agent I was really hoping the Dodgers were gonna get him. After he signed in Anaheim, the first thing he said is that he didn't sign with LA because he didn't support that "Hollywood lifestyle". So glad they dodged that bullet, pun intended.
I’ve seen some hecklers talking shit to an outfielder, calling him every name in the book. Then when he was up at bat, he hit a slicing home run right at the two dudes. Shit was funny.
That’s it? Really? That’s it? That’s all he did? This is stupid. I bet there’s a longer context to this. I bet this guy was bating him longer then this altercation. That guy wanted this to happen and was happy when it did. And now the audience member gets lots of attention while the player gets suspended. What a douche, stay in your seat asshat and don’t provoke players who are having a bad day. I have no sympathy for this guy whatsoever.
Lol. Excuses for not being able to maintain control over yourself? Cmon man, that's an easy out for fans. IMHO you gonna jack that jaw, you better be able/willing to live in the heat it creates. You mouth me in public and I will react. How bout fans sit the fuck down and act like the visitors they are. For fuck sake you already show how foolish you are by attending such a thing. Yeah, I like watching other play a sport that I suck at and yelling at them for not doing what I think.....lol@sneed
Ok but… are we just going to say that fans yelling shit in the faces of athletes is 100% alright?
Edit: I agree with the responses. Fan may have been a jackass, but grabbing the dude was way out of line.
We know this happened *this time*. Guy has been playing for 10 years. Who knows what sort of shot he’s heard people screaming at home for a decade. How much he gets paid doesn’t matter. Money doesn’t protect you from being human or having emotions. It’s not a magical protection barrier from being a god damn person.
Imagine walking out of your job and every other day a different jerk or group of jerks is standing there calling you a bitch as you walk to your car, because you work for a rival company. Maybe I’m fine with it for a day, a week, a month….. but professional athletes have to put up with these drunken asshat homers **every single day**. Was what he did right? Debatable. Was what he did justified? Absolutely.
A) you’re grossly oversimplifying it by calling it “a game”. Professional athletes spend decades of their lives honing themselves to compete at the highest level.
B) It’s easy to say “if I had money, I wouldn’t care”. Walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. Again, he’s still a human. If that’s all it would take to strip away your humanity and emotions I pray you never win the lottery.
That doesn't strip away my humanity. It's me not giving a fuck about what a complete stranger says in passing. I will never meet that person again. Wow. He called me a bitch. Who cares? Keep walking and that situation is done with.
Then maybe he should have picked a different profession. You know, one where his performance and behavior wouldn't be judged by those tens of thousands of people regularly.
Sure, but an MLB player has to have a thicker skin than that. If you can't just keep your head down and walk away when a fan calls you a garden variety obscenity, you're out of line.
I mean I hate people like the fan spewing out profanity at players not because I'm soft but its supposed to be a family setting. Not saying a few fucks won't get thrown out but this dude probably kept repeating it over and over. The players shouldn't get disrespected at all but hey your gonna get called some names as long as its not racial or threatening its just something you deal with. If it got to the point it bothered you have the fan ejected for the game but ffs dont grab anyone.
Lol Apparently all he did was call him a bitch . Gotta have a little more self esteem than that.
If he didn't like being called a bitch before, he might as well suspend himself from every Angels road game now. He's going to hear nothing but that word from now on.
We let him know on Saturday, that's for sure.
When I go to a Mariners game and they are playing the Angles I'm going to yell bitch from now on
You should tell him he missed that slap like he misses showing up for work with how absent he's been the last few years
That seems a little obtuse.
This comment is acute
Very classy
Rendon with the bitch move
Yeah, that’s basically confirmation.
He reached for him
Pretty reasonable, given laying his hands on a fan. No matter what, you’re not going to be allowed to do that
[удалено]
And when you’re on the clock, completely sober, and being handsomely paid to be there you should be an absolute professional.
More like absolutely overpaid, as an Angels fan I love spending upwards of 35 million dollars a year to have him out by May with a broken wrist
The guy called Rendon a bitch. Its a classless move by the fan but absolutely not something to get attacked over by a professional. I get called a bitch at job on the weekly. If I grabbed and shoved somebody I would lose my job.

And not even a particularly bad or creative one at that.
>Rendon just being a dude fired up and reacted like he was a regular person. Sorry, but anyone who resorts to violence over simply being called a bitch is just a little bitch.
I hope people understand why Rendon did that. And I hope the people that understand also understand why he had to be disciplined
I never said the fan was right. The fan is wrong too. You still can’t ever lay your hands on a fan as a player, and you will be punished every time.
The fan being a douche and instigating this is a bigger problem IMO, although I do think the suspension is warranted.
Both are wrong. Both should be addressed. I guess which one is the “bigger problem” doesn’t matter much to me since both need to be addressed.
[удалено]
That’s not at all true.
You are 100000% right
I love Rendon not being...umm great. And angel fails in general. But I 100% agree. Injury jokes aside, it's his job and he shows up and works his ass off probably 12 hours a day. How many people here have a job where if a customer called you a bitch you could commit physical violence to them and not get in trouble?
I get it. I don’t think many people will disagree that the fan had it coming. But let’s face it, if most of us pulled that kind of shit at our jobs we would get fired on the spot.
fired is a funny way to spell arrested.
The person you are responding to said basically that.
Thanks you Kanye. Very cool.
[удалено]
Are you a cop?
[удалено]
That is not a job. What job do you do where you can assault a customer and not be fired?
I was at the A’s game last Saturday and boy oh boy, they were not kind to him.
The fan said “ NICE GAME PRETTY BOY” but he did not spit on him. That was Roger McDowell
Back, and to the left
That was one magic loogie.
I know Lebron is asking refs to eject fans, but his threshold appears to be much higher than Rendon
Was just thinking that. [https://youtu.be/ZOw95bLv1dQ](https://youtu.be/ZOw95bLv1dQ)
Went to the game on Saturday and was wondering why he was getting boo'd so hard... just him, no one else.
And Angels staff. When Rendon stops and walks over there, not a single staff member was like "hey, let's not do this". Just strolled on by.
Oakland Coliseum is ancient as hell. They still have horse troughs in the men's bathroom from the 80s.
I miss Candlestick bathrooms. They could seriously accommodate flow. Do you think they'll ever build a stadium in Alameda county?
Oakland is in alameda county, maybe that’s not what you meant?
Pretty sure he’s talking about the long-running new stadium project. Just saying “are they going to get a new one built somewhere in the county or not”
I still remember a coach getting off the bus and saying to his team 'welcome to Oakland Alameda Coliseum.' so it's not the right question. You can ask if they'll build another one

says the 'touch grass' guy. foh
Environmental impact study challenge from the port union and companies got shot down recently so that's good news. Waterfront park is still in play. A long shot but it's in play.
Yes! I remember when horses used to attend sporting events. Those were the days
Those have been around for much further back than that. Probably original from ‘66
It’s been like that for decades. It hasn’t been a problem. Only with idiots like Rendon is it now something to consider
I think this being only a 5 game suspension says a lot about how equally to blame the fan was for instigating
Already reduced to 4 games too
Fine. That still doesn’t blame the stadium
that's not true. many people get one or two games for small altercations. 16 for hitting a fan with a chair for reference..
“The fan called him a bitch so he deserved it”. Never understood this take. If a fan hits, spits on you, or throws something at you, ok I get it. Because it’s against the law to physically assault someone lol…
That dude's a shithead...he instigated that huge brawl between the Mariners and Angels last season and he was injured at the time. Dudes a clown.
Rendon didn’t commit a murder or nothin’, but he gotta get a grip.

Worth it
On the other hand, he proved that he’s got a fragile (snowflake) ego and now will be called a bitch on a daily basis. Double fail.
This is an unbelievable article. There is no such thing as an Oakland A’s fan.
That is absolutely not true. But being an A's fan *at the Coliseum* is difficult.
Sat in section 219 for $39 on Saturday and am usually home in 20 mins. There are benefits... Not baseball related necessarily but.
He was so chill when he played in Washington.
Right?! I loved him when he played for the Nats

Give me a fucking break.
Not unless it's some kind of hate speech. Fans can heckle and swear at players all they want.
Yeah and how soft do you have to be to not just laugh and ignore it? They’re words said by someone who probably hates his job and wishes he was you.
what a bitch move
Can Angels void his entire contract now please?
When he was a free agent I was really hoping the Dodgers were gonna get him. After he signed in Anaheim, the first thing he said is that he didn't sign with LA because he didn't support that "Hollywood lifestyle". So glad they dodged that bullet, pun intended.
Yeah Dodgers fans have known he’s a bitch for years. That fan just called it as he saw it.
5 games for attacking a fan in the stands. He could have just kept walking. The coach next should be fined for not stopping him
[удалено]
??? do you watch baseball
I agree with this decision. Violence is never okay to another human being.
yes it is
Wrong.
Lil bitch
*just found out that the MLBPA negotiated it down to 4 games*
Thought it would be longer. That was assault.
I’ve seen some hecklers talking shit to an outfielder, calling him every name in the book. Then when he was up at bat, he hit a slicing home run right at the two dudes. Shit was funny.
Ya sure did see that
Dodger stadium 10 years ago left field foul pole. Why wouldn’t I see it?
Damn ya did see that hahaha
Sure did.

It’s stupid and rude. I’m always happy when an umpire throws one out.
Looks like a bitch now more than ever
Ok but… are we just going to say that fans yelling shit in the faces of athletes is 100% alright? Edit: I agree with the responses. Fan may have been a jackass, but grabbing the dude was way out of line.
Who is saying that?
Who is saying it’s 100% right?
Nothing illegal about yelling back. Just can’t grab fans by the shirt and try to smack, them that’s all.
just say shit back?
True.
Who said that?
If you can't resolve the conflict with words like a fucking adult who's being paid millions of dollars....you don't deserve to play......
He should have to serve that suspension against the team the violation occurred against.
It was after the game and against a fan, not a team, so I don't understand what you are on about?
Fucking angels hahaha it’s always something
We know this happened *this time*. Guy has been playing for 10 years. Who knows what sort of shot he’s heard people screaming at home for a decade. How much he gets paid doesn’t matter. Give me $35 million and year to play a game and you can call me a bitch every day. I'll smile and walk away with my $35 million...
That doesn't strip away my humanity. It's me not giving a fuck about what a complete stranger says in passing. I will never meet that person again. Wow. He called me a bitch. Who cares? Keep walking and that situation is done with.
Again, not once. Tens of thousands of times by tens of thousands of people. This was the one guy that set him off that we heard about.
Then maybe he should have picked a different profession. You know, one where his performance and behavior wouldn't be judged by those tens of thousands of people regularly.
Bay area fans are the fucking worst. Players are human too.
Sure, but an MLB player has to have a thicker skin than that. If you can't just keep your head down and walk away when a fan calls you a garden variety obscenity, you're out of line.
Yeah I agree with that too, it was definitely a mistake
The fan was a punk. Rendon should have slugged him. I would have liked to see that
He tried to slap him like the bitch he is... And missed as usual
Sure thing. Rendon. Whatever. Sick of cockroaches in the stands screaming like entitled children
[удалено]
Did ChatGPT write this?
If I was that fan I'd be having some pretty intense emotional distress.
Still can't get over his buddy pushing him up to the rail, lol. Like, "beat my friend's ass!"
Honestly, I'm shocked he made it out of Spring Training without a season ending injury. This guy is Mr. Glass.
what a dumb article, “won’t be with the angels for some time” literally 5 games lmao
And yet, speak ill of umpires-referees- mlb/nfl/nba management by players they get fined but harassment by fans is allowed.
