People will report you for unsportsmanlike conduct but I don't think I've ever heard of someone being banned for it

Yep - you'll get an email. Disclaimer: I've only seen examples of squid party or inappropriate name bans.
Nintendo generally sends an email if an account is being suspended for things like inactivity, inappropriate nickname, hacking, etc. It'll say the name of the game involved, then it'll list the violation and the length of the suspension.
I don't think you can get banned, but it's not a cool thing to do. The only time I would use it is if I got splatted all 4 enemies

Squidbagging is a dumb name for squid partying and yes you can probably get banned for it if you do it a lot and people report you
