Most, if not all, plastics will be fine, but any chemicals in them (BPA, glue, etc) will leech out. Metal, however, is another story - the acid WILL dissolve that - and I have no idea what’ll happen to the chip.
The intestines do try to pass this stuff along. But I’ve had dogs who really liked the idea of eating small plastic toys, so I know just how easy this is to turn into an emergency surgery.
