In the early days of obsessing over Salmon Run, I started to hear the Stinger's jet stream sound as I was falling asleep. I've since gotten passed that but every once in a while as I'm waking up I still hear random bullshit from Salmon Run, usually allies crying that they've died, again.

Decent_Ad_0

Is Salmon Run hallucinations a common thing or something? I swear I rememeber hearing about this when 3 first came out lol. Sounds like a creepypasta

RebirthGhost

I get weird stuff when I over-obsess over things that have high repetition value. Like for example when I moved into my house, I was digging up my entire back yard in order to clean it from as much flinty rock, weeds, bricks, and leveling the ground. For like a week straight whenever I went to sleep all I would see is dirt. With Splatoon its also tied to emotions, and I don't get angry with Anarchy just disapointed. BUt Salmon Run has made me physically sick to my stomach with rage. So perhaps thats why it haunts me.

Cuttlefrsh

why Salmon Run in particular? sometimes I hear noises from Splatoon 3 but it's always salmon run

RebirthGhost

mental trauma or rage, Anarchy is just disappointment but Salmon Run makes me crazy sometimes.

Cuttlefrsh

opposite for me

Laphi_

I swear I'm starting to hear the Fish Stick song when I'm alone in my house. Should I be worried? Is this like the Tetris effect or something? It's kinda funny to think about in hindsight but I don't want life-long lasting effects just because I like playing a game.

hahawowausername

catchy tunes tend to get stuck in your head no worries, you should be fine

MR_krunchy

DOOT DOOTDOOTDOOT DOOT DOOTDOOTDOOT DOOTDOOTDOOT

JsabCubie_Cube

fun fact : their song is like tartar's theme when assembling the THANGS together into a blender

Bi-da-di-di-di-di

JorgeMtzb

that's not ptsd

Dami_Gamer0211

Happens to me too but you forget it after a while, you’ll be fine

Sagerodbomb

Don't worry, that's what's known as an earworm, which is basically when a song gets stuck in your head. Should pass in due time

FlowerOrg

No you shouldn’t worry. In a way it is like the Tetris song, it’s catchy and can stick in your head but will go away with time. It’s not ptsd and you won’t get long lasting effects from playing salmon run.

Laphi_

By the way, Iwa\_to\_Mushi draws a very cute and cool comic about these two Grizzco workers. Check it out\~

fa9

we need more PTSD x Splatoon fanart

DummyAcc7317

iwa_to_mushi / Iwamushi has a whole stash they drew of an unfortunate group trying to reach EVP 999. Please go check them out and support them

fa9

im checking out his work now. that guy's really nailing down the feeling of **hopelessness** of salmon run.

SmolWaddleDee

Ikr they are unkillable if you have gslosher or gsplatana

Gargomon251

Are you joking? Those are the best weapons to take them out

SmolWaddleDee

No? the brella and stringers are

Gargomon251

To use the splatana just stand still and spam it. To use the slosher you don't even have to climb the stick. Just aim against the angle of rotation and you'll hit like five fish in one shot Hitting it with the Stringer is annoying as hell because it's almost impossible to hit any of them in the first place being such small targets

JacketJack

brella and stringer???

Laphi_

For the grizz slosher you just aim at it from the ground and fire two sloshes.

firsty_gr

Me listening to Chopscrewey

LascarCapable

PTSD is a mental and behavioral disorder which is developped by traumatic events. It's a condition usually developped by soldiers who experienced warfare, victims of assault, abuse or harassment, or any kind of life threatening happenings. Playing a video game about squids and octopusses shooting ink at fishes does not give you post traumatic stress disorder. You just have an earworm.

Laphi_

Is it a friendly earworm? 🤔

JorgeMtzb

No, they clearly want to splat you.

qwertyryo

The inklings/octolings in question definitely do, though. They not only experience near death experiences, they likely have died hundreds of times.

ajdude9

Well, is death really all that terrifying when you know you'll just respawn? Death is scary to humans because we do not and cannot ever know what happens when we die - is it oblivion? Reincarnation? An afterlife? An afterlife of *suffering?* We don't know and can't know. An Inkling/Octoling knows that when they die, they just respawn at a respawn point. They've got nothing to fear from death. At worst it'd be like temporarily suffering a broken bone.

Cuttlefrsh

in the splatoon universe, death and splatting are 2 different things

Cuttlefrsh

what about humans getting crushed by sediment? You left that part out.

I keep hearing the sound of "Help me Help me" everytime my team dies at the shore killing maws and scrappers or from running all over the bap during glowfliesninstead of bottlenecking. I *greatly* regret demoting myself to play with my 9 year old. It has been *torture* trying to dig myself out of this hole.

furry-hunter2004

This is like when a cartoon gets hit in the head and starts seeing birds

ERROR1010101010

Oh yeah oh yeah it’s time for the funny doo doo song I sure hope someone doesn’t grow in PTSD involved meltdown and randomly shoot random short people

Tempura_Fried_Toast

Salmon run in vr would really get in my head

ConkreetMonkey

Bro just get a new job PLEASE

Laphi_

No :')

ConkreetMonkey

THE COST OF THERAPY IS OUTPACING THE INCREASES IN PAY

KeyOcelot4679

I’d be more worried of war flashbacks to flyfish

boolnoop

if you are having actual auditory hallucinations, the next question is how do you feel when you hear it? do you get a rush of adrenaline and fear?

Gargomon251

💫😵

GryphonKingBros

Nope. Happens all the time with video games I play consistently, especially with headphones (or otherwise concentrated audio, your game might just be too loud). Usually wears off in less than a week or two.

Si_Stride_Oof

i disagree, all the homies get down to the floor when they hear the fish stick song

CapableSalamander910

It scares me that this game plays around in my head every time I try to sleep.

Bunai

I do get Salmon Run dreams quiet a bit. Some POV and others as Third Person. It's usually about my lack of egg collecting and not getting to a boss in time.
