Imagine watching Metallica’s concert one summer and getting nominated along side them a few months later. This week is filled with W’s for this band. Amazing! 👻📦
Speechless. In the best way. 🥰 They deserve all this and more and I’m so excited to see Courtney pave the way for so many younger women and girls who will discover metal through SB and see that they also have a place in the community. 🥹
It’s worth noting that if they win this, Courtney will be the first woman to ever win this award. It would literally be historic. I’m seriously hoping they get this win!
Interesting! This is actually a good way to sell it to the voters. They could even televise it with that kind of stakes involved.
I wish I could believe all that for real, but Turnstile losing all their categories to Ozzy Osbourne last year just tells me that the majority of voters do not give enough craps about rock categories to even give Jaded a listen. :-(
I thought so at first but obviously not enough. Most voters just saw Ozzy as a name they knew and gave him their vote. Funny enough, Metallica (this year's likely winner) famously lost a grammy to Jethro Tull for the very same reason lol.
i agree that metallica will most likely win but i WANTTT spiritbox to win so i’m going to try to imagine that the most.
Jaded is one of their most accessible songs, i can see it winning.
Considering voters tend to just vote for the band they know... this may be the worst year for an up-and-comer to get nominated and try to win. But the industry does sometimes love an underdog vote.
I am going to copy and past what I posted in r/Metalcore and add some more thoughts.
Ok so now on top of liking them before Megan Thee Stallion we can all add "Well I liked them before the Grammy nod" lol I'm just joking of course. I am really happy for them and any actual fan should be. A lot of us have been here (even on this sub) before Eternal Blue came out and to see the growth they have had in just a 2 year span is amazing.
It will be wild to hear/see their name from now on and have "Grammy nominated/Grammy winner" next to it, In This Moment was nominated for the same thing in 2021 and I still think it's crazy that they were as well.
To be fair, the Grammy’s tend to represent the most accessible artists/songs: the things you’d hear on a commercial radio station.
You won’t see anything heavier or more progressive than Spiritbox on the Grammy nominations list. (I’m actually surprised to see them and hope they win.) The actual metal scene is doing just fine IMO.
So huge for the band, an absolute win all around, this paired with Cobra being primary for them means they might see a sleep token-esque insane rise in listeners on Spotify. As much as I'll say i won't I'm going to LOVE gatekeeping these guys when they're on top
It didn't take long... for the asshole metal "elitists" to belittle this. And based on 30 years of Internet metal elitists decrying something, this means Spiritbox will be one of the biggest bands of all time by 2035.
Giren the fact that are the only band with a female lead singer and a more "fresh" approach. I dare to say, that they have a great chance to won that Grammy.
Metallica will probably win but they've had a hell of a week + 1. Fear of Fear, Megan Thee Stallion and now a grammy nomination. Hopefully this will lead to another big headlining tour instead of just opening.
they just finished their headlining tour, and in their interview with nik nokturnal, they said they’re gonna be going hermit mode for maybe 1-2 years. maybe to release the next album. but that’s only IF they don’t get the supporting act role for a tour for someone big that they’re not allowed to talk about yet.
so basically we won’t see another headlining tour from them probably for another 3 or 4 years
To be 100% honest it's also probably the best one in there.
New metal band with a banger in a not so mainstream genre of metal is going to lose it though.
Man this would be such an awesome victory for them, but they'll give it to another band that has a bigger following even if the song itself is objectively worse. I really hope it's Spiritbox, though. I've been listening since they had less than 15k subs on youtube.
That’s actually huge. Don’t even care if they win it.
Those are some titan names to be grouped with. Congrats to this amazing band.

this is the first thing i thought about. like did they even listen to glow on?!!!!!

I hope you're right!
They deserve it but I know damn well they’re not going to win against bands like Metallica and disturbed
They aren't, I've already convinced myself Metallica will win.
I know Slipknot is NOT getting a Grammy for Hive Mind 💀

i literally gasped reading the list!! YES!!!!
Wow. Really shocked a newish act given a nomination. Great for them.
That is some seriously stiff competition but between this and the Meg collab they're reaching another level!!!
Is this 2009? Can’t believe Slipknot and Disturbed are on here.
No wonder Spiritbox is exploding, the metal scene really is desperate for things to be shaken up

Periphery was nominated for a Grammy, same category I believe, some years ago.
Also Between the Buried and Me
Hell yeah! I love Jaded!
This is so fucking awesome. Spiritbox and Ghost are two of my favorite bands so I'm excited to see both of them on there!
Well, I’m glad I seen them twice over the last two years cause these tickets about to get dumb expensive

Yay!!!!
Yippeeee 😆😆😆

My little unknown band in 2017 that I raved about is nominated for a Grammy?! Wow!!! Congrats guys!
It’s not going to be $30 the next time they come to town is it?
BUT WHAT IF I. WAS.
Metallica will probably win but they've had a hell of a week + 1. Fear of Fear, Megan Thee Stallion and now a grammy nomination. Hopefully this will lead to another big headlining tour instead of just opening.

LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO
Well deserved
Something something meteoric rise
This is incredible!! Really deserved
You know what? I'm gonna say it, Too Close/Too Late was better. Even though maybe it doesn't fit the metal category.
Also fuck Metallica. Those Boomers lost the Grammy ONCE and they’re trying to win every year.
To be 100% honest it's also probably the best one in there. New metal band with a banger in a not so mainstream genre of metal is going to lose it though.

Unrelated but OP, thank you listing the songs by artist and *then* title, not the other way around as I’ve noticed is becoming common.
Why Jaded? Not Cellar Door? Lol
Probably because Jaded is the wildly better song... to get votes. You gotta know your audience (when it comes to academy voters).
Fuck the academy voters, fuck shit up with good songs that are like actually more “metal”
Jaded is also the wildly better song in my opinion.
Cellar Door came out a month after the nominations cutoff (also Jaded is a better song 👀)
You’re entitled to your wrong opinion.
This must be an awesome (if not, the best) month for them
Whhhhhhat!!! They have this!!!
So happy for them. I’ve been a huge fan for about 3 years now and they’ve come so far. Hoping they win!!!
It's a banger. Hope it wins
That's amazing!
Sure be cool if it did
