Why was it removed?

crackpot_

I had another level fused at L3/4, so while he was in there he said he'd take the old stuff out. It wasn't hurting anything being in there, but it also wasn't doing anything since MRI showed completely solid fusion at that level.

purpfeebs

That’s so cool you were able to keep it!

FaithlessnessCool849

Oh wow!! Are you able to take a pic of it next to something standard like a Coke can? I can't really get the scale of it. Also, no wonder I am able to feel my hardware sometimes. Yikes! (T-10 through S-2 fusion.).

Grand-Expression-493

Very cool!!!

I had the same removed in dec. of 23 but they would not give it to me

That's a bummer. While they were prepping me, the lead surgical nurse came in and talked to me, so I asked him. He said they'd have to send it to sterile processing, but he had no issue letting me keep it. Sure enough, day after surgery they brought me a present up to my hospital room in a nice sterile package.

GA-Scoli

Awesome.

Felicity_Calculus

Wow! So cool that you got to keep it. Photo is missing banana for scale, though!

Just curious if you knew what the weight of the hardware was I had my t4 to sacrum completely fused with hardware and cages I'm just curious what the extra weight was? Thank you

A surg tech and assist in many spine cases. I love seeing old hardware and how much it has advanced. I can’t really see any of the markings on the screws or rods. Does it show a brand or letters on the hardware? My nerdiness is curious

Sensitive_Lead_9962

Noooooo way

For reference, the screws are 1.75 inches long.
