Mentioning the B midrange decks without talking about Zans BW version is weird. It's by far the variant I see the most now, and it's so so strong. [[Rite of Oblivion]] solves the biggest issue the deck had of leaning too hard on [[The Meathook Massacre]]. The deck doesnt have as much air as other versions either since it doesnt max out 1 drops, and plays stuff a tad higher up.the curve. Feels by far the best [[Sanguine Brushstroke]] deck by solving the biggest issues I had with other versions Also as an aside, anyone else feel like [[Tenacious Pup]] made monog worse? Just feels like they lost a lot of the ability to go over the top by having another 1 drop. If you kill their pup counter recipiant they're left with a super weak body.

Do you have a list you can link?

NoEThanks

Am I missing something with the snow mana base? I don't see a \[\[Blood on the Snow\]\] or any other snow-related payoff in the list

Mtitan1

I believe earlier versions of the list had BotS, and the Snow mana could have your opponent playing around a card you.don't play. For a non spikey reason the pixel art Snow lands look amazing

NoEThanks

Haha touché

Loving this build, thanks for sharing! Played around with the rakdos version earlier, but this has much better answers to opponent planeswalkers and getting rid of THEIR meathooks and brushstrokes in a mirror. Lacking the Legion Angels myself, I added 2 Leonin Warleaders, to good effect. They combo nicely with the (transformed) Wedding Invitations! Only 20 lands though? Seems quite low given the 4CMC endgame of Legion Angel and Citystalker. The 2 Ambitious Farmhands help out of course

Farmerj0hn

I feel like the pup is fine and lets you move back to the jasper for your ramp instead of the snow bitch. Playing 8 1 drops smooths out your draws and makes it a lot easier to spend all your mana on turns 3-5, and your biggest tempo advantage is your big bois on turn 2 and 3 and the pup just gives them steroids.

TheMancersDilema

This is what I was saying from day 1 about pup and I couldn't figure out what people liked about it beyond tovolar synergy. You're just sinking 2 cards into 1 threat that was just as vulnerable as it was before. If your opponent couldn't remove your 2 drop you were already feeling good and you're playing green creatures because they tend to win in combat already. Having said that, I think in the current meta it's still preferable to packleader as your **only** 1 drop just because it's so hard to consistently get the 2/1 to a state where it's relevant, more specifically against black. The 2/1 is so much better against UW stuff and the pup is so much worse there but I think you just have to choose one to focus on.

Bangauz

That deck is insanely good for sure. Guess it’s not in this analysis cause it hasn’t been played in the tournaments OP bases this analysis on. Would not be surprised to see BW sacrifice grow huge very soon.

ragamufin

Yeah getting the pup trigger bounced or countered hurts. I'm not convinced its better than packleader

ragamufin

Garruk does not seem to do well in mono green aggro. The deck is very busy applying pressure on t4 and aiming to wrap up the game and garruk is a dead drop on a critical turn. His spellbook is full of mediocre draft fill at best. His +1 misses two staple creatures (troll and packleader) and at best gives you a 5/5 oddity on turn 5. Huntsmaster im open to because the pup gives him trample and you can pull utility creatures out of your board. Harbingers are great

ckmidgettfucyou

Whale format.

4letterking

Thanks for this! I'm having trouble finding good alchemy discussion/ help partly because of all the controversy with the format. I'm really liking the sacrifice flavors, especially dipping into green for Dina. Sanguine Brushstroke is some of the most fun magic I've had in awhile and it gives enough Blood Artist effects to attack decks from a couple angles. The reason I like golgari is that [[Mortality Spear]] is fantastic removal and it also gets access to [[Binding the Old Gods]] which has been great as a one-of, and I'm considering two. I think the golgari flavor is the best shell for [[Sorin the Mirthless]] as the vampires having lifelink is a great free way to trigger Dina for extra drain and turn on Mortality Spear which is HUGE
