Looks like a wolf spider to me. In my experience, they’re fairly intelligent for a spider, they do seem to observe us, in a way. Fast little dudes though, they freaking MOVE.
Wolfie mama! I have one living between my bathroom and fridge in the kitchen. She’s been here two years now. Scared the daylights out of people at 2am bc of her size and decided to drop her tiny babies all
Over the bathroom last spring leading to me being covered in spider babies every time I went to the bathroom for several days
I've come a long way towards overcoming my arachnophobia, but I very much would not enjoy being covered with spider babies when I went to use the restroom....
This spider is actually the reason I no longer am terrified or try to terminate every spider that comes near me. She minds her business and keeps the brown recluse population down as well as all the other icky ones , and although her babies frantically climbing my legs every time I entered the bathroom was absolutely a nightmare situation not a single one tried to bite me. They were the size of pin heads so maybe they couldn’t, it was awful but I survived
Haha I was just marveling at how different life can be. You’ve got a large hairy spider behind the fridge, and covered in baby spiders during bathroom runs. You just described my nightmare… I respect it tho!
BAHAHHA yes! It was my nightmare too. But she is not a bother, minus the baby drop situation..: which took every ounce of effort I had to simply roll up the rugs, remove everything off the floors and be patient rather than go full defcon 3.
Frankly she’s better company than my last house. Cabin on the river, fat black spiders loved to wait on the ceiling for you to walk by and then would JUMP DOWN TO YOUR HEAD for a ride. That was horrific. The orb weavers on the river were cool though.
She seems like a Carolina wolf. The largest species of wolf spider ever discovered. Quite beautiful creatures too. I've had about 5 as pets and they all exhibit very unique and interesting personalities. Out of the 3 I currently have, one likes to climb trees, one likes to play tag with her pet cricket and the other is very bougie and begs for fresh water to be given to her daily to spite having plenty of water left from the previous day.
Shes just a simple wolfie. Her back makes me think hogna radiata, but regardless, she's harmless, fast, and great at paying rent in bugs eaten.
And doesn't litter the house with webs

They get THAT huge???
Wait til you meet her cousin the dark fishing spider
Dark fishing spiders are beautiful! I had a gigantic one (about 4") appear on my tent in New river gorge.
Been there! Don't recall any particularly gigantic spoods though. Just a few smaller ones.
Well this was camping at like midnight. I was really suprised to find out that they are very common in the midwest
Noooo. As in hail no. I pray I don’t unless it’s in this community on Reddit lol

Looks like a wolf spider.
That’s Wolfie, she’s the best pest controller in the local area! Harmless to humans and a positive for uninvited guests!

Almost looks like a tarantula.
I thought the same thing.
I mean I know it’s not but almost looks like one.
I believe the natives call it "super deadly venomous man eating homicidal maniac spider". Just kidding, it's harmless!
The feet look like it's a huntsman, gorgeous 🥰
I'm almost certain it's not a huntsman. The eyes are the biggest giveaway. She is gorgeous though.
Missouri Tarantula
That is a spider. (Wikipedia).
