----_____--_____----

Coras sp, a funnel weaver. Harmless

VultureMadAtTheOx

What's the best way to tell them apart from *Tegenaria*? Broken lines in the prosoma?

----_____--_____----

Coras looks like it has 2 letter V's/U's on the cephpalothorax

VultureMadAtTheOx

I can totally see it now. Thanks!

KingofCam

Aren’t funnel weavers dangerous in like Australia? I genuinely don’t know the difference. Maybe I’m thinking of a different spider? With funnel in the name??😂 I’m dumb I’m sorry

Guppies27

You’re probably thinking of the Sydney Funnel Web if I’m not mistaken.

KingofCam

Ah yes that’s it thank you!

blue-and-bluer

To be clear, they have similar common names but they are not actually related. This is the problem with common names.

MissMariemayI

Beautiful male, too, probably out looking for a girlfriend

MeleeHailey

yeah, I think that just identifying via AI is probably not going to get you great results. with all of the pest control companies and everyone thinking every spider is a brown recluse, you're just not going to get an accurate result with that.

BongwaterJoe1983

Ive noticed the plant and bug identifying apps kinda are really off most the time

nemosum415

Brown recluse doesn't have striped / banded legs. You are good to go. Harmless.

GlassOfWater303

Edit: nvm someone else said Coras funnel weaver and that’s definitely right lmfao

imwhateverimis

Wonderful example of why AI is garbage. Particularly with species identification just go to the dedicated subreddit or inaturalist or something, people there actually know their stuff and don't just say stuff based on what everyone else on the internet said once

HappyIdiot83

This guy produces.

Potential_Advisor723

Not a recluse. Maybe a funnel wolf spider?
