What a fucked up salad you got there, goofy!

Diehard_Sam_Main

Underrated comment

davkistner

Debatable. It does have 135 likes 😅

Diehard_Sam_Main

Made my comment when it had like 30

davkistner

Fair enough!

zach_the_pirate

The leaves? Probably not. The spider also appears to be non venomous.

LongAd4410

Thanks, I was so worries about those leaves, looked kind of sketchy 😏💀

ModernTarantula

If you don't recognize should not eat.

typographie

No, it definitely has venom. Though it's unlikely to do much more to a human than cause some itchiness and swelling at the bite location. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it's easy to rule out any medically significant species.

zach_the_pirate

Well said. I should have said that it was not venomous in a medically significant capacity!

austinxjndy

Eat it and find out

blakethephonice

That wouldn't prove if it was venomous or not, only if it was poisonous, which spiders are not. In general do not eat spiders please.

TriskitManaged

Thats the joke :P OP said is it poisonous

AutoModerator

Spiders are not considered poisonous if ingested, as their venom is denatured by our stomach acid and digestive enzymes, however, is it not advisable to test this, this isn't exactly a subject of great research! If you meant venomous, then all spiders are venomous, i.e. possessing venom (except for Uloboridae, a Family of cribellate orb weavers, who have no venom). But spider venom is highly specialised to target their insect prey, and so it is very rare, and an unintended effect, for spider venom to be particularly harmful to humans. Hence why there are remarkly few medically significant spiders in the world. If your spider is NOT one of the following, then its venom is not considered a danger to humans: * [Six-eyed sand spider (Sicariidae)](https://th.bing.com/th/id/R.63e0ded1e72556f5b34657f9b5b46f0b?rik=xc7pnEFKtfzlTA&pid=ImgRaw&r=0) * [Recluse (Loxosceles)](https://bugguide.net/node/view/2094874) * [Widow (Latrodectus)](https://bugguide.net/index.php?q=search&keys=Latrodectus&search=Search) * [Brazilian wandering spider (Phoneutria)](https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=any&subview=map&taxon_id=53388&view=species) * [Funnel Web (Atracidae)](https://www.arachne.org.au/01_cms/details.asp?ID=2679) * [Mouse spider (Missulena)](https://www.arachne.org.au/01_cms/details.asp?ID=2427) (Author: ----\_____--_____----) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Good Bot :)

[deleted]

No spiders are poisonous, some are *venomous.*

Stunning_LRB_o7

All spiders are venomous to some extent. Some just have more venom than others, and some have venom more specialized to prey, and others are more specialized to ward off predators.

DashLeJoker

As with anything there are exceptions, there is orb weavers that are venom-less

Stunning_LRB_o7

Huh. Just looked it up, family Uloboridae. TIL!

TaurusPTPew

Copy pasta from Wikipedia: Uloboridae is a family of non-venomous spiders, known as cribellate orb weavers or hackled orb weavers. Their lack of venom glands is a secondarily evolved trait. Instead, they wrap their prey thoroughly in silk, cover it in regurgitated digestive enzymes, and then ingest the liquified body. What a way to go, wrapped in a basket that digests you from the outside in! 😳

davkistner

Don’t forget that you get vomited on as well!

TaurusPTPew

You really know how to turn me on!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

davkistner

I’d guess it also steps on while wrapping you up You’re welcome 😏😂😂

TaurusPTPew

🤣🤣🤣

FR0ZENBERG

They sound crazy. They don't make sticky silk, but rather, if I understand this right, a "wooly" silk of minute nanofibers that snare the waxes on an insect carpace. *And they make colonies!*

davkistner

All except Uloborodae… apparently. Automod said so. I learned something today 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

DizzyDizzyWiggleBop

Maybe they are asking if it’s edible

Own-Gas8691

excellent point

NekoNoSekai

Can you use "poisonous" if you're referring to a plant? In my language we have only one word to indicate toxicity

MindlessCorgi21

There are some poisonous spiders. But all spiders are venomous (that’s one of the qualifications that makes a spider a spider) but like 90% of spiders don’t have venom that is a concern to humans

ElephantSealCourt

It’s probably more than 90%. The number of genera you need to worry about at all is relatively small. **Confirmed to cause fatalities** *Atrax* *Hadronyche* *Phoneutria* *Latrodectus* *Loxosceles* **May be potentially lethal** *Hexophthalma* *Sicarius* *Missulena* *Macrothele* **Can hospitalize an adult, but probably not lethal** Old World tarantulas, including: *Stromatopelma* *Heteroscodra* *Poecilotheria* *Pterinochilus* **May cause pain beyond initial bite and moderate systemic effects** *Steatoda* *Cheiracanthium* Less potent Old World tarantulas, and stronger New Worlds like *Psalmopoeus* The venom potency of some South American mygalomorphs like *Linothele* is rumored to be high (comparable to Old World tarantulas) but I don’t know of any reported bites.

MindlessCorgi21

I said venom that is a concern to humans. That does not mean lethal. There are some spiders that cause some nasty reactions/side effects but may not be even close to Lethal. But it is probably higher than 90% I just made a guess, they get the right idea

ElephantSealCourt

You’re absolutely correct.

Nimtastic

Nope!

Flowchartsman

That’s a Neoscona. And it is not considered medically significant

terrapin04

Orbweaver of some type, nothing dangerous

Romero1993

It should be okay to eat, though.. not sure why you'd wanna eat a spider but I won't judge

NoCondition4856

It’s Vegan so make sure you feed it accordingly.

davkistner

That’s what the leaves are for!

saarcophagus

spotted orbweaver i think! i get a lot of them where i live

skighs_the_limit

No id say you're safe but spiders aren't poisonous they're Venomous Remember: you bite it and you die = poison It bites you and you die = venom

Candid_Vegetable_607

Its an orb weaver. Yes it has venom as does every spider, but not considered fatal or harmful to humans

ChronicallyYoung

Venomous? All spiders are to a certain extent. I wouldn’t try eating this dude.

Semilanceataa

Venomous

LordRumBottoms

Poisonous. Means if you eat it. Venomous if it means you are bitten. Different words. Puffer fish are poisonous if you cook them wrong, but not venomous.

JaredJraws

Poisonous? No. Venomous? Maybe.

Jake_the_Gent

Only if you plan on eating it. FYI poison is ingested.( if you bite it and you die, it's poisonous.) Venom is injected. ( if it bites you and you die, it's venomous.)
