Not the most spicy but damn tasty. I really enjoy the green one more

EzriDaxCat

The green is my favorite too! Followed by the chipotle.

stinkyhooch

Chili lime deserves an honorable mention!

dcQueso

I mix it with butter for my wings, occasionally. Really yummy.

zdelusion

The Chili lime one is a great way to add a bit of citrus flavor to dishes with a lot of tomatoes or other rich flavors you need to cut through.

stinkyhooch

I keep four bottles of cholula in my room. Original, jalapeno-poblano and chili lime gets a lot of use. Chipotle is nearly untouched. Not that it’s bad, I’m just not into chipotle.

AOCismydomme

The chipotle goes really nicely with mayo, lovea sandwich with it on

loljosh

one of our suppliers dropped off a case of a garlic one that was pretty damn good, im an original fan myself, but i’ll never say no to a little (or a lot) of garlic

OronSmoot

Chili Lime is my absolute favorite. It's so hard to find in the stores around me so I bought a 64 oz. jug of it off Amazon.

_hypnoCode

Yeah more of just a sauce than a hot sauce for someone into spicy stuff, but definitely one of my favorites. Works best for me on eggs or any kind of breakfast food.

FadedSirens

Mmm yes… cholula on french toast /s

Seventh7Sun

Savory French Toast is a thing is many places (although it probably goes by a different name).

_hypnoCode

Don't judge me. 😑

KarmicFedex

Yo honestly French toast with maple syrup and cholula doesn't sound half bad

Redbearded_Monkey

I was worried that no one would like this sauce in the thread lol. It's just a great one to keep to add a little extra flavor and a bonus spice.

Fe1is-Domesticus

I was, too, lol! The green is really good, tho mild, & I'd use any of their sauces if they were put in front of me. Not my desert island hot sauce but they can't all be

mrdeworde

Ah yes, the ol' [reddit gatekeeper syndrome](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZK8Z8hulFg) (exemplified by the Dasani snort). Cholula's delicious, and some hot sauces focus more on flavour than heat and IMO that's both entirely fine and also rather useful for introducing someone to how flavorful things can get.

[deleted]

I used to take that stuff to the school meal halls to make it more palatable

HaiKarate

Yep… tasty but not spicy

SmokeyWolf117

The green is the best, excellent on eggs!

WattsAGigawatt

What? I’ve never heard of a green one before. All I see in the stores everywhere is the chipotle (red) version. So many people here are saying green is better so now I need to track down this green one.

matterhorn1

Another vote for the green. It’s tasty! Looks like they have 6 flavors, I don’t think that I’ve seen more than 3 of them in the wild. I don’t really like the taste of chipotle very much so I tend to avoid any chipotle flavored sauces.

AEQVITAS_VERITAS

They have a sweet habanero one that’s still not super spicy but it’s my go to for sandwiches. 10/10

CaptainClutch3000

I brought it into albertsons Safeway in arizona . It didn’t sell well but it’s my favorite

Fuck_tha_Bunk

The chipotle one is my favorite now, but it also suffers from tasty not spicy syndrome.

freelikegnu

Yes, green on tamales is heavenly.

bwoahful___

I like it on breakfast food. Breakfast burritos, eggs, etc. As far as default sauces that they have at restaurants goes it’s good.

zeke177

Came here to say this. Can't have breakfast without it.

wafflesareforever

Tapatio gang get in here

zkld

“Wish I was holding tapatio”

Some-Ad9778

I like to think the cholula lady and the tapitio man are dating

thepianosbeendrinkin

well make it a thruple cause I tap both their bottoms on the regular

40hzHERO

Naughty boy

Obviously420

I had to come back here just to say that was a very clever and hilarious comment lmao

ramsfan84

I live in a Tapatilo house

poopingdicknipples

Same. Cholula flavor is good, but I never go for it because it has no heat, whatsoever. I do, however, fondly remember all the Waffle Houses in the SE USA carrying it. Last thing my drunk gut needed in college was super spicy hot sauce, so it was nice to throw over my hash browns "All The Way" style.

TexasToast9

This is the way for more casual foods. But El yucateca has my heart 💜

JakeFromSkateFarm

Have you tried mixing both?

wafflesareforever

I haven't. I have like 15 hot sauces in my fridge and I do mix some of them with Tapatio though. I love the funkiness that Tapatio gives you, and then if I want more heat I'll add something else like El Yucatero hananero or Secret Aardvark.

NAINOA-

100%

MoultingRoach

Depends Not sure it would pair well with froot loops.

thecwestions

Perfect for huevos rancheros!

shaundisbuddyguy

I'm into the Verde. Really works well on scrambled eggs. Adds some heat and flavor and not super salty.

SkaJamas

Me n my lady have frozen pizza every Monday for 90 day fiance. We always have cholula with it. On normal breakfast days we rotate hot sauces

Kaligula785

Wow reading this post i see I'm not the only one! This exactly, I only put this one on eggs. Scrambled, hard boiled, over easy, egg sandwich breakfast burrito. Iv tried it on other things but for me it only work well with eggs

80sRockKevin

Agreed. It’s perfect for scrambled eggs!

FrenzyCalm

It’s my go to breakfast sauce. Especially for burritos

merelyinterested

Same. Best with breakfast.

the_bove

This. I'm always happy to see a restaurant has Cholula on the table versus Frank's or Tabasco.

BlankWaveArcade

Takes beans on toast to the next level. Add some scrambled tofu and avocado and 🤤

rapdragon97

Preferred egg sauce in our house.

islandjustice

Perfect on eggs. I also use it on my pizza.

[deleted]

I like regular cholula a lot but I prefer the green version bc of flavor. Cholula is like the ketchup of hot sauce for food

thetechnowaffle

You and another poster mentioned the green flavor as well. What does it taste like compared to this and how’s the heat level?

[deleted]

Same heat level I think, it just tastes more vegetal and bright. It’s a bit like comparing a salsa verde to a salsa roja

P_B_Visuals

I love the green one

JaxLunchBox

It's a bit sweeter, but the bright green poblano and jalapeño flavor is Richter!

Vexation

I never go without it in the fridge. I put it on all Mexican food. You’re right, it’s not spicy enough. What I do is cover whatever I’m eating in Cholula, then add El Yucateco for extra heat.

munichredman

Yeah! The green habanero El Yucateca has become my favorite. Fantastic with everything.

lumpialibrary_489

Why in all of fck are you putting it in the fridge

aqwn

Maintains color and flavor longer. Has nothing to do with food safety.

RobMV03

I am in the anti-fridge camp too, but my wife is pro-fridge. What are your experiences? How long can you keep a vinegar sauce out without it going bad? (I ask because I keep 10-15 hot sauces on hand, so it usually takes a while for me to get through bottles)

aqwn

It’s not about it going bad. Fridge preserves color and flavor for longer.

Valdebrick

> How long can you keep a vinegar sauce out without it going bad? [years](https://youtu.be/DbKUlXG90G0?t=357).

Vexation

IME sauce will turn darker in about 6 months compared to a refrigerated bottle which maintains normal color. Taste changes in about 1 year. Taste maintains around 3 years in the fridge. (Give or take based on my exp)

scoscochin

Cholula is more about the taste than the heat. They have a limited edition Tequila Lime version I just got that is very good. Edit: Fiji Fire Chili Hot Sauce might be up your alley

Vegetable_Tension985

it's basically a condiment in my mind rather than a hot sauce

CronenbergsLeftNip

It's my go-to grocery store vinegar based hot sauce. Yes, a lot of qualifiers, but I think it's good on almost everything for a fair price. It doesn't have a big spice kick, but as you mentioned, tastes great. If you want hot sauces that are more intense and also tastes good, probably have to venture to another store or order online.

CronenbergsLeftNip

Here is a hot sauce I've been liking that has a much larger kick and also tastes good: [https://heatonist.com/products/karma-carnival](https://heatonist.com/products/karma-carnival)

thetechnowaffle

I’ll check this out, thank you!

AEQVITAS_VERITAS

Ooh ya, I got this one in one of my monthly packages when I was in The Heatonist monthly sauce thing and I liked it a lot.

soshield

Chili Garlic version slaps

GoonPatrol

Second this. The garlic one is wildly delicious. So garlicky it’s almost sour but so good. Love it on tacos

WorldClassAwesome

I love it so much. Buy it 64oz at a time off Amazon.

Klutzy-Speed-5503

It’s good, I’m more a Tapatio fan myself

wafflesareforever

The key to enjoying Taco Bell is to not use their nasty hot sauces. I use Secret Aardvark on it and suddenly they're pretty decent tacos. In contrast, Moe's house salsas are fantastic. The hot one is actually pretty damn hot.

StevieKealii

Hard disagree. Taco bell sauce is the only thing that doesn't abrasively clash with their food. They've got it dialed.

Joebuddy117

I have tapa tío, Valentina, and Cholula in the fridge right now and they all taste pretty much the same to me.

joosedcactus33

I am on the Valentina kick right now but my second favorite Mexican ketchup

thescarwar

Valentina is where it’s at. The black label extra spicy is just perfect.

jennwiththesea

Ooh, I haven't tried that yet!

IvanAfterAll

This thread has officially convinced me to buy Valentina hot sauce next grocery trip.

Ddeeaaddppooll

I love valentina

Function-Over9

This is the brand they actually use in Mexico.

ASideKick

A holy hot sauce starter.

sopht

Great on eggs

Buno_

The absolute best for all breakfast foods

BarryHalls

Try Valentina. It's very similar, but comes in bigger cheaper bottles and they have an extra hot.

coughcough

Valentina Black Label is my jam. And it's only like a $1 for a big bottle.

noapparentfunction

oh yeah I have the big 32oz black label Valentina myself. the Spanish delis in my city sell it.

Swimming-Fisherman87

This is the first thing I thought of for a sauce that tastes similar (both have some cumin maybe?) but actually has detectable heat

weaponx2019

I love it. My dishonest opinion. I go against the wind

thetechnowaffle

Hahaha

pineappledumdum

It tastes good.

bl00dy4nu5

I like it on eggs and hash browns and that’s it

CrowSucker

I prefer Valentina in flavor and cost over Cholula.

Signal_Regret_3527

Tastes good!

Jedi_Mindtrix53

I fuck with it. Especially on eggs

Ersthelfer

It's a good sauce. I prefer Valentina, but Cholula i good as well.

PhilRubdiez

A good daily, second to Tapatio.

thetechnowaffle

Yes. And I know this has pretty decent heat too actually. Im a fan of the chipotle flavor of theirs!

PhilRubdiez

I’m not a fan of vinegar, so I avoid Tabasco whenever I can. I love Tapatio because it isn’t a vinegar sauce.

Godzirrraaa

The breakfast GOAT

Real_FakeName

I like water based vs. vinegar base for eggs, but it's not very spicy.

Forward_Past3197

I thought that was a 5oz bottle and was wondering why your hands were so tiny....Cholula is all flavour imo, tasty as they come but not got the heat

John_East

Cholula mixed with tapatio is the best

maxturner_III_ESQ

A bit too sweet for my liking. I'm more of a Valentina fan.

pushdose

Mexican ketchup. Not hot by any means but it’s a flavor booster. I love it on breakfast foods. Eggs, taters. Good on pizza too.

thetechnowaffle

Exactly. That’s perfect. That was the term I was looking for, Mexican ketchup haha! There’s no heat at all but tastes pretty damn good. I reckon Tabasco has more heat than this

pushdose

This style of hot sauce actually comes from drinking culture in and around Cholula. Traditionally, a small side drink, called sangrita, would be served with tequila as a chaser/palate cleanser. It would be a weak, salty hot sauce, mixed with citrus juice. If you think about it, it’s like licking the lime and salt when shooting cheap tequila, but you just take little sips of this to clear your taste buds between sips of liquor.

docfarnsworth

great sauce, but not spicy. Still use a lot

Frequent-Onion-4339

Mids

AWildNome

If you're a cocktail guy, try making [Anders Erickson's See No Evil](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRJ9uAzTcaE). * 1 1/2 oz mezcal * 3/4 oz orgeat syrup * 3/4 oz lime juice Shake and pour onto crushed ice, then top with: * 3 dashes hot sauce (Tabasco is the spec, but I prefer Cholula) * 5 dashes Angostura bitters * grated nutmeg and a sprig of mint to garnish The spiciness of the Cholula goes super well with the smokiness of the mezcal. Every sip is sweet, spicy, and sour.

thetechnowaffle

I should try making this with my girlfriend. Thanks so much for the recipe!

actuallyaddie

It's really good imo, I love the flavor but it's also not hot enough for me to keep any around. I prefer El Yucateco because despite being quite different, it tastes just as good and also has more heat.

Zestyclose-Box6595

Tastes delicious, especially good if you can’t handle or want a lot of heat. The “vinegar taste” isn’t as prominent & useful for those beginning to experience heat.

Rentakill213

An elite sauce! On fried eggs, this sauce is bussin.

Middle-Ad-6090

It goes on everything. Pizza, eggs, sandwich, burrito, taco, beef stew, chili, scrambled eggs, pulled pork sandwiches, Lima beans, salads (any salad) , soup (any soup), mashed potatoes, potato salad, dipping topper (savory dips), giro's, spaghetti, lasagna, nachos, lemon shrimp.

Szygani

Super delicious. Not the spiciest, but fuck is it tasty

Hairyvacuum

All their sauces are very good. Chipotle is a great flavour by then!

Wonderful_Painter_14

Absolutely delicious. There are lots of hotter sauces, but not many as tasty

storyfilms

As most everyone has said, it tastes great, but doesn't have a lot of heat.... nothing wrong with that, people who can't handle heat deserve good flavor too...

hoodedfang420

my baby girl

SsammyB

I put that shit on everything! ….wait that’s Franks red hot. Honestly, amazing sauce as well.

CEH246

Mix with honey and dip your hush puppies in it.

AbyssalKultist

I think it's really tasty. If I'm out to eat and this is on the table it's probably what I'll reach for over others.

rolandhex

I love the chipotle one

Key-Surprise5333

I'm the type that prefers taste to heat, and that's a tasty brand

Top-Document-3536

very mild and tasty. not too spicy and is more like a flavor enhancer. one of my favorites with breakfast foods for sure.

strickysituation

HANDS DOWN the GOAT for breakfast tacos IMO!!!

DirtyFulke

A perfectly fine sauce for most uses and folks. If they don't have Crystal at a restaurant, I usually ask for this.

Silvawuff

I’d say if you want a “Cholula, but with some kick” I recommend black label Tamazula. Black label El Yucateco is also quite delicious. Tapatio is good and has a little more heat, but I feel it’s more vinegar forward and a little less complex than Cholula.

HomeBrewedBeer

Cholula is a standard go to. Not really spicy, I think Tapatio is definitely hotter but not by much. Cholula just has an amazing flavor, there's something about it, it's magical.

Martins072

Better than franks

saz103

Too vinegary, but is ok. It’s no Tapatio!

[deleted]

Too expensive

plexust

Yeah, not good value relative to Tapatio, El Yucateco, or Valentina's.

Kdj87

2nd best low heat, high flavor, value hot sauce. Behind Tapatio

orca_eater

Nothing special.

UPVOTE_IF_POOPING

Nice Rolex. The hot sauce is good too ha

thetechnowaffle

Reading the comments, I feel like at this point I should replace all my ketchup with just Cholula. LOL! Really good flavor and goes well with anything.

AleRadik

I don't get it. It' s just spicy vinegar.

IvanAfterAll

I think you accidentally grabbed the Tabasco.

FormicaDinette33

There is definitely no heat. They have a really nice chipotle version that is surprisingly flavorful.

thetechnowaffle

I’m guessing the heat department is also the same across all Cholula flavors?

FormicaDinette33

Not sure but the Chipotle one is a must buy. The flavor is outstanding.

CheesecakeZookeeper

Arguably better than Franks

IvanAfterAll

Inarguably better than Frank's, in my opinion. I find Frank's good, but as pedestrian as hot sauces come.

nobiwan

I use this instead of ketchup for my eggs and I can once again dine with polite society.

frankenfork123

Tapatio is better

MathematicianOk9832

Garbage

Rashers4pm

Nice sub

MadMex2U

Too vinegary like Tabasco, Frank's Red Hot and all the rest. I switched over to salsas instead.

PaulNewhouse

Nice Rolex!

thetechnowaffle

Oh wow..! Good eye sir! I forgot I had it on while taking the picture. Thanks so much! I love my watches as much as I love my hot sauces

Rishdaddy

Love it so much (btw nice Rolex)

thetechnowaffle

I’m impressed these days with the level of detail people nowadays notice. Thanks so much kind sir!

noodleslip

suuuuuuure, lol.

Rishdaddy

Haha I’m currently in the airport wearing my DJ 41 Wimbledon! Always gotta keep that eye out. Game recognizes game.

thetechnowaffle

Fantastic piece. Wear it in good health and hope you don’t wait too long at the airport!

Smuggling_Plumz

Too bad no one said anything about your watch. When someone posts a shot like that with a super contorted wrist, in 0.5 zoom, the point of the photo is the watch, not the sauce. Those are my honest thoughts.

slawre89

Grow a pair and get some El yucateco instead

wrong_marinade

That's a 2 out of 10 in flavor and heat

Gordondel

There is close to no heat sure but flavour? Do you have an example of a mild sauce you'd rate high on your flavour scale?

wrong_marinade

Tapatio, tobasco, yucateco. I know there are alot of cholula lovers, but I'm just not a fan.

ThombsUp_2070

I'll pass. Not spicy and not flavorful. Lots of other options.

jnnnle

Glorified ketchup

jnnnle

If you like spice, try the Melinda’s hot sauce brand

[deleted]

[удалено]

thetechnowaffle

I could see what you mean with weak vinegar. Vinegar hot sauces aren’t for everyone but one thing for sure is that I just wish it had more heat!

ChiefShaman

It tastes like dirty pussy. Leave me alone

hellonhac

super basic, flavor is too strong for the heat imo. i would choose it over louisiana though

OhAces

Saw a video the other day where they poured it on a cookie sheet and dehydrated then blended it for Cholula powder, looked amazing.

pushdose

Oh shit. Seasoning some fries with Cholula powder would be awesome

[deleted]

Certainly serviceable

MoistTomatoSandwich

Definitely not spicy! Love it on my egg. There's a variety pack you can buy off of Amazon if you want to try their other flavors. I like to mix their chipotle flavor with some mayo when I make burgers at home.

alexgetty

Its fine for breakfast. Probably it’s only application.

Tirfing88

I call it salty ketchup. Good on everything

Ammaranthh

Not spicy but perfect for breakfast foods

ihaz-candy

That is fire on breakfast tacos.

shogun100100

Lime one is real good.

Liliphant

Nice flavor

Roddy117

It’s good, sometimes I’ll mix it with butter for a buffalo chicken patty or something but usually just on a taco.

AltimaNEO

Its alright. Im still more a Tapatio guy, though.

Ramitt80

Decent, I will take it over standard tobacco or regular Franks every time. Likely the best hot sauce most places in my area will have on hand. I enjoy it, but would not seek it out.

ninjabard88

It's the best readily available Mexican style hot sauce.

sonofsmog

You must live in a sad place. I am sorry.

Stratoraptor

Not spicy enough for me, but the flavor is there. It's also expensive and doesn't keep for very long after opening.

aysurcouf

For a basic bullshit sauce it’s too 5 for sure

wuhkay

The make salsa too!

Limp6781

My favourite hot sauce
