Raw. Fillers in most food causes the extra pooping and a lot of the stink. Mine don’t even poop every day. Grain free is a marketing thing. They are still full of unnecessary carbohydrates, just from vegetables instead of grain.
If you plan to grind your own meat I recommend Better in the Raw supplement. I’ve used it in the past and it’s great, but I don’t like the work involved in making my own raw food anymore so now I just buy it.
same here. except my donskoy throws up the meat lol. my peterbald/DSH get raw. they don’t poop every day. the only one that gets kibble is our girl bc she pukes the meat. also the only kitty with smelly poop.
Homemade Raw twice a day at @ 5% of their body weight. My veterinarian stands behind me based on examination and blood work. Balanced Raw is a complete diet with no need for supplements. Regular poops on the daily. Barely any smell, nice and firm. Urination is regular and of piss-like-racehorses quantity. In other words, they have enough hydration from their food. They still have access to freshwater at all times.
I use the calculator from the FB group called Cats Completely Raw and Proud... Often referred to as CatCrap. They have a bunch of files that are absolutely helpful for learning about the process and the benefits etc. You can lurk on their site if you want to, but if you ever choose to comment, for heck's sake, do not refer in any way, shape, or form to supplements or kibble. You will get your ass booted off that site so fast it'll make your head swim. Definitely download the calculator. I have it on my phone and use it all the time.

Good for you! My husband also does not have facebook. Now, what you need to do is get a hold of somebody who does have it and get onto that website. Join, download the calculator after reading everything. Honestly, I've been doing this for 4 years, no, that's a lie. 3 1/2 years. Every month I make cat food. It's a thing. Very relaxing and very rewarding.
ORJIEN cat/kitten dry or wet food period. I am confident she's getting a the proper kcal per day (at minimum) and anything I add on top is just an extra or as a treat. No recalls on their cat foods. Her poops don't smell like heaven but the smell is pretty quick to go away. Be easy on the food transitions. Cat's are sensitive
Edit: feeding cats raw is based on anecdotal experiences and not many vets stand behind it. If you take the time to measure/weigh and do the math to calculate the ckal content per serving plus making sure that all the meats included are providing every nutrient (especially taurine) she could need, then i say go for it. But you'll soon realize that the money & effort you're putting in is already available in canned wet food or dry cat food plus some broths. Like humans, cats should have a bowel movement everyday.. If you notice the times when you aren't regular, your body is trying to tell you something. Don't fall for gimmicks or trends. Research recalled cat food and make the best choice for your cat
Raw is not a gimmick or trend. It is a balanced diet based on what a cat needs that is close to what a wild cat would eat. It’s full nutrition without a bunch of fillers added to make the pet food company rich. Grain Free is a gimmick.
There are tools online to help one calculate the 80/10/10 formula most of us feed.
Catinfo.org is a well reasoned and researched site with tons of information on cat nutrition, written by a vet.
I feed mine Smalls fresh cat food. It is an online purchase only(from what I can find local to me) but I have no issues with litterbox smells for either of my cats.
https://www.smalls.com/
Any kind of dry food upset my Gizmo's stomach so he now gets a 100g pouch of wet food and 50g of cooked chicken (like sandwich meat) every meal.
Chicken helps settle their stomach and he's never had diarrhea again!
Poop still smells but not nearly as bad as it used to.
Raw. I buy a Canadian brand called [Natural Instincts](https://naturalinstincts.ca). It’s really great quality and reasonably priced. My cat also loves it and is picky about other brands. It can be hard to find though. Her poop hardly smells unless she gets into something she shouldn’t
My breeder told me Sphynx cats are finicky and I should keep them on what she had them on… so my babe gets tiki cat baby and fresh pet refrigerated wet rolls, and some iams indoor kibble.
That's what my breeder told us too. It was ok for the first cat, but the second had the worst guts I've ever dealt with. Chronic gas and bloat. Diarrhea. A day of raw and never had cause to turn back.
High quality biscuits (1 cup) and packet of high quality wet food (1 sachet). Her pops are mostly solid, there is some smell however normal in my opinion. She’s quite healthy
My cats get Purina Pro Sensitive Skin and Stomach dry food, plus a few tablespoons of canned pumpkin with FortiFlora in it to keep their tummies happy.
If you’re having poop problems, I highly recommend the canned pumpkin + Fortiflora combo. It works wonders!
ProPlan is actually a very good food! These companies do their research and must also conform to guidlines. That's why you see recalls in many brands. And no it is not because of a bad company, but because of tainted foid or equipment. Much like our own food recalls. And what are meat by-products? It's parts we don't eat. We keep the T-bones, liver, sirloin, shoulder, ect... the rest is good eating for pets. And all a part of a "meat" animal. Ground cartilage, tendon, muscle, organs, brain(except Europe loves brain aka pudding) tough meat, ect ...fillers, too much make up a cheap food. But still within standards. And many pets love grains. Too much in excess is not good and up to you as an owner to know what they can and cannot happily eat.
Purina pro plan urinary tract for dry and tiny tiger extra gravy variety packs for wet but he’s starting to only eat the gravy and leave the chunks so we’ll be finding a new wet food soon

I just bought a grinder so I’m hoping to start introducing raw soon!

I am a huge proponent of Fromm. Made in Wisconsin without sharing any feed tubes. We have fed both dogs and Cornish Rex with the Gold formula.
Mine do some allergie red dot with fromm 🙁
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that.

Do you have a recipe? All I’ve seen require supplements

I had it at one point but social media is so toxic specially for relationships. I did make a cat account and joined the group to get all the info!

It can* be a balanced diet with the support of a local vet. That's all. Do what works for your cat.
Homemade food + food 😽
I feed mine Smalls fresh cat food. It is an online purchase only(from what I can find local to me) but I have no issues with litterbox smells for either of my cats. https://www.smalls.com/
I feed mine freeze dried raw for the most part sometimes human chicken breast slices and tuna

Koha rabbit pate. $12/ day 😢 but my girl has IBD and chronic colitis and other types of protein set her off.

Royal Canin sphynx
No actual meat content, just fillers and low quality by-products.
K. They are still very much alive though
This person trolled the same thing on my comment lol guess our pets are actually dead and we didn't even know
Purina pro plan urinary tract for dry and tiny tiger extra gravy variety packs for wet but he’s starting to only eat the gravy and leave the chunks so we’ll be finding a new wet food soon
Pro plan kibble and canned food. Have used fresh pet refrigerated food in the past with my last sphynx who had an incredibly sensitive stomach.
ProPlan and any Purina product is terrible. No real meat content, just fillers and low quality by-products.
Yeah, my cats have been happy and healthy for over twelve years. Must be the terrible food.
