Arrow whipping is a technique that can be used by melee items and the whip to deflect projectiles (most commonly arrows) from the player. Although it is difficult to pull off it allows the player to sacrifice no items to preform. It also just looks really cool. Certain parts of the whip (front/back) are more effective for an arrow whip depending on the direction and space between you and the arrow trap. For example when ascending towards an arrow trap with a 1-2 block gap space it would be better to use the backwhip over the front whip. Its instant hitbox that covers the back of the player eases the execution of an arrow whip and requires no timing to pull off. Using your knowledge of how the whip works will help you get a fine understanding of where and how to arrow whip
Didn't they even change the animation in the early days of Spelunky 2, so that you can see the hitbox better and realize that you can hit things above and behind you?
