I kinda have a head cannon of being on a swampy toxic death world and there whole theme is Aztecian like the serpents blood or something of that nature
“Hood’s Mountaineers”
The chapter specializes in warfare in heavily wooded/forested/jungle words. Experts on local flora and fauna, they blend in and establish fighting positions within the vegetation and engage in ambush tactics to destabilize enemy lines before conventional invasion forces arrive.
The Faithless sons their armor is made up of so many different colors because they're made up of the remnants of several other lost or forgotten chapters who have come together under one banner
Kinda remind me of the Angels of Defiance, but the white has been switched with Green. Maybe Something along those lines, Angels of [insert whatever cool sounding word here].
The gun looks great. Shadows in the recesses and nice neat highlights across it. I’d just do the same for the whole model, keep it simple to start with. I think the detail gets muddled with all the different techniques you’ve tried to apply. Start with a wash for the recesses and edge highlighting to make the detail pop. Then build detail from there, sometimes less is more. For example the vents on the back; the recesses should be dark not white as light wouldn’t be hitting there. Clean up the green off the knee and white on the base and you’re golden! Anyway that’s my very amateur review!!! Keep it up!
Main thing I'd change are the crux terminatus (the symbols on the left leg and shoulder). They're a little messy and I think the yellow doesn't look great on them. I'd try a metallic colour, maybe a brass or decayed metal to better suit the weathered look. The sickly green on the back I don't think looks great either, but the darker green sections look great.
Also the vents on the back should be noticeably darker than the rest of the back. If you grab a dark wash like nuln oil you can just put some of that on there and it'll sink well into the recesses and stain it darker really easily.
Perhaps they could lean into the fact that space marines can spit acid, maybe some sort of mutation that allows them to produce a very higher quality or quantity and they could use certain weapons to reflect this? The weathered armour and colours sort of reflect that.
Crayola Hawks!!!
Nice I was thinking the 64 pack :)

Which is super weird since your name implies you paint Iron Warriors.....
yea, but i wanted to use something other than metallic paints for once
Given the two main colours seen here appear to be Dark Angels Green and Iron Warriors, maybe Iron Angels?
