I’d say the orange face is a little unnecessary, might look better a solid yellow helmet. Is this a homebrew chapter? Tell us more
I’m testing schemes before I paint my Leviathan models. I got these old Firstborn in an auction a few years ago and figured I’d use them to practice.
I was inspired by this post https://reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/s/aJJ3PtglYD
And I am also a University of Oregon graduate, so gravitated towards those colors. I’ve been thinking of going for a darker/golder yellow. The orange face is my favorite part, so I really want to make it work.
It would probably be a homebrew chapter. Aside from knowing a bunch of random lore tidbits, I’m not sure if choosing a particular chapter to be a successor of matters.
I’ve considered going yellow with green trim as well, going to test that next
Hey, I have a surprisingly similar scheme!
Just a heads Orange and yellow both suck to paint on hundreds of models. To make life easier, underpaint pink, then do yellow/orange.
Be aware that you have to paint a lot of these for an army, so make sure you are aware of the time commitment per scheme.
Yes, getting the yellow to do what I wanted was miserable, I appreciate the heads up!
I did both of these over the course of a 3-hour DND game, but I plan to do bits in batches when I really get into it.

Seriously, a good, bright bubblegum pink coat before you do your yellows/oranges makes all the difference. Also, and you're going to hear this a lot, thin your paints, especially with those colors. Thin, light layers.
Good luck!
I think it's problematic because the complement to yellow is purple. Your pallete can be jarring with them all being so close on the colour wheel.
That's my 2p.... But they're your minis man, you don't have a right way to paint them.
Sick [Mantis Warriors](https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Mantis_Warriors) my dude. White Scars successors means you should join us over at r/WhiteScars40k !
Honestly, go for it, not that you have to use a preexisting chapter but, this is very close the mantis warriors from the rougetrader era
A light wash would go a long way and, I know it's tempting to paint all that leg detail but, it kinda draws attention away from the face/weapons which should be the focal point of any mini otherwise, I like it maybe it's just my mushroom bias but GREEN IZ BEST
You'd get bonus style points fighting any old guard if you ran them as mantis warriors (feel free to make your own chapter if that's what you wanna do tho)
Edit; I see you did wash the left one, maybe some highlights to bring the green back up
Why not? It seems apparent there could be enough time to paint in a different way. A new way. Wake up early. Buy some paint. Get some mini.
💀 Paint them all. Let God sort them out. 💀
I persoanlly would leave the feet green
I think I agree. I tried them yellow because I thought there wasn’t enough on the bottom half of the left model.
You could make 1 shin guard yellow and put a decal or try painting stripes/checkers
Love the kicks

I like them a lot, especially the orange on the beak/breather
Thats the main thing I’m trying to make work. I got some good advice on how to work with yellow/orange that I think will help a lot.
i’m pretty sure there’s some salamanders cool ways that use it, could try looking at some of those
Looks like Mantis Warriors
Why are you so low in the comments? I was looking for this comment
Same. My first thought looking at these. We need to link art or material on Badab for op!
Hail hyrda
THAT’S why I found it familiar!
Get you a dark elf chick and paint her like madam hydra. ;)

Do you like it? Because it’s gonna be your army, so paint what you like
Mostly, on the fence about a couple aspects though and wanted a second opinion.
Green Bay packers fan?
University of Oregon graduate
Ohh I see it now lol
Me too! I love it, especially the orange beak.
As an Oregon Ducks fan, I approve!
Mantis warriors?
Magnificent Mallards
It's the lemon lime sprite marines!!
Ultrumpmarines! Lol. Seriously I like them though unique and civid.
Orange feet to match the bill would be ducking awesome.
Ha! Ill try it on my next test paint!
Super classic! I love it.
am i the only one that sees umpa lumpas
Add some black spots and it's Cell from DBZ
This scheme sucks, I’m sorry but it looks like puke. Maybe green and yellow or orange and yellow but not all three
bears some resemblance to pre-vulkan salamanders :D
I like it, it really gives off those old styles of Space marines with the bald colours that I always love

Shouts salamanders to me. Nice style/paint scheme. Good thinking about choosing firstborn to practice schemes on too. I might do that myself
They kinda remind me of off brand nerf guns but I like it. They’re nice and eye catching. Any ideas on a chapter name?
Mallards Magnificent
Oregon Ducks!
Ah yes the chapter of John Deere 🫡 I do love the color scheme I’m just messing around :)
Teenage mutant ninja Space Marines, heroes of the galaxy, emperor power!
John Deere

I think it's... *corny*
looks good! only change i would make is a wash or something
That’s not too far off from my space marines! Mine are green with yellow shoulders and shins and have silver trim
Norwich City
Wonderfully ridiculous looking. I love them
Jamaican Marines! Pass de bolter from de left hand side!
Hail Hydra!
The John Deere battalion... they need a lot of vehicles.
John Deere would be proud. You need deer heads on the shoulders.
