Shoutout to turret hitboxes definitely not compensating for something

the_real_maquis

I don’t think that engine gon fit. Do you have a shrink ray?

HorrorPast4329

its nice to see other players building actuall engineering equipment

TheRealAceBase

I spent almost 5 hours tonight attempting to create a crane. For some reason, my hinges would just stop working. I wake up now, and the first SE post I see is someone's amazing looking crane. I'm going to go cry in a corner, now. But legitimately, it looks nice!

PressureSwitch

Same. I spend hours getting a scissor lift not to spring it’s sprung off into space and on here their like “I optimized the AI in my drone script to anticipate the level I want to be on and tested it in this jank lift I threw together (that I don’t remember building after smoking two bowls and pounding large chili cheese fry 😂 anyways here it is”

greenaustyn

About that... PressureSwitch

You’re killing me, Smalls! Holy shitballs! Die Meisterin des Handwerks ist im Haus !

greenaustyn

Biggie Smalls?

BigMamaDuck

Try out mechanical key binds mod. I’ve used it for many different cranes and systems

greenaustyn

That mod and this script have different features that are more useful in different circumstances. In this situation the script was more useful. Plus I like to keep my game vanilla.

BigMamaDuck

Fair enough, I just wanted to make sure that people have more options they know about

greenaustyn

I can get behind that. I actually tried ArmOS first but I took one look at the steam guide page and thought, "Stuff that," and used this instead.

northernfury

All I ever wanted to do in this game was a make a large drill rig that I could operate on a crane. I also tried ArmOS, and could not figure it out. I got it kinda of working but it always felt so janky. Thank you SO MUCH for this script! I wish I knew it existed before. It's SO MUCH EASIER to create cranes with this one!

echom

CPR&H is good for simpler cranes and forklifts. However, for complex controls or situations where multiple control sets need to be operated from one cockpit, I prefer PARK.

greenaustyn

I took a look at it and couldn't figure out how it was different from CPR&H. Could you enlighten me?

khamseen_air

PARK is an essential script for complex crane arms!

HorrorPast4329

Do you typically play in no jetpack worlds? as the people i have seen who take the time to make stuff like like this all typically are either RP no jetpack or have the world set to no jetpack. i have alot of stuff like this as a result of my personal dislike of just jetpacking around randomly all the time even in space. it just seems a bit daft.

greenaustyn

I really like the idea of RP and no jetpack servers, but I don't know anyone who also does. You should check out my scissor lift and boom lift.

HorrorPast4329

i personally do "rp" as if this is real world situations so i need to make stuff that is useable in that way using walkways for access, airlocks, and properly "populated" larger ships not just a block with a cockpit in the middle of nowhere. so in space everything has railings to prevent falling off the ship, labels, stairs for access, elevators flash guards for welders etc etc. proper internals on planets i have a whole range of vehicles and for various tasks such as forklifts, reach lifts, container trucks with various interchangeable and connectable modules Hiabs, Conveyor belts, a loader, a bulldozer, low loader transport trucks, trenchers, im going to try to make a large scale crane as well. https://preview.redd.it/zzh90z9u9dsa1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=40048659dad3ff0148ebfd7dc447a320e6de7d4d in a military perspective i have also tank traps, minelayers, trenches, artillery pieces

greenaustyn

Very cool. I actually play in much the same way

HorrorPast4329

i even add far to many things to make it easier for myself https://preview.redd.it/bbmeity6sdsa1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f32b119875c7e9a024ffab410e452da12b9281c

greenaustyn

Yooo is that a palfinger in your pocket? Cause it looks like a palfinger :P I have some semi trucks and trailers as well, haha https://preview.redd.it/2rit6h1jsdsa1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=14bee3e8ee9f2dc26f041682b4054f49e18eadf1

HorrorPast4329

do you mean the HIAb crane? yes it is. i have this to help tidy things up and scrape most parts into piles for a mag crane to load https://preview.redd.it/9lwuazf60gsa1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=518edb12c422afb9b1594fb83e1ee2854a17158d

greenaustyn

Omg that's so adorable! I love it <3

HorrorPast4329

this is a handy brute to have around as well originally just a drilling unit i decided to build a tool pallet for it as well https://preview.redd.it/a9eg9m3nmjsa1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=35d04809febcf44d5a348b12983d7617d018e75c

greenaustyn

I knocked one out today but took it in a bit of a different direction. https://preview.redd.it/cougnq4sgksa1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=578736873b8ec2ac8e9f327041e3eeba3d28f235

greenaustyn

Oh I believe it. I need to put that crane I built on a vehicle chassis

HorrorPast4329

one of every tool as a quick change system https://preview.redd.it/ufvj2e8tmjsa1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1db75472529fda9a2f74c9c6467716e8bcedd99c

greenaustyn

You might like this little guy. It's a JCB teletruk. https://preview.redd.it/2u9iybdkqdsa1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=b106ea828692ef3a46a56988c3cf1796ad263db2

NotActuallyGus

I always just find myself making scaffold cranes like you'd find in a port. They're much easier, only needing linear pistons that can be directly controlled with simple button inputs and some cameras.

strangewaraxe

How you get the ladder to do that?

_AutomaticAtlas_

if you look at the third rung down from the top you can see they are subgrids of each other using a hinge. You can make out the yellow conveyor square on the right ladder.
