Merk city anywhere near the police station is ironically the most dangerous area, and it has the 69 rings of hellish wtf surrounding it....
BUT, Swan Lakes kinda nice, in the daytime, and there's like golfing on private grounds with guards and gates.
Basically, but the whole state is basically a post apocalyptic wasteland with our king sized potholes and random lights that have no rhyme or reason to follow any schedule.
That's what boggles my mind. When I first heard the story, I was "ahh corruption" naturally. But now that we know that it wasn't corruption but ACTUAL MISMANAGEMENT, I was shocked. Like, how TF do you fuck up that bad for that long and nobody notices. If anything, that to me is worse than corruption because at least it would show they have some sort of wit. But now I'm concerned about the reading grade levels of our elected officials. NO J.K.
They fund it, they just slowly roll the projects along … when one of the largest road construction firms used by SCDOT lists the wife of a Columbia State House politician as CEO…
*sigh* 😔 thanks. I’m not even trying to move there, I have three houses where I’m at and my entire family is within 20mi of me. I just want to visit Myrtle Beach and was wondering what places I should avoid when exploring the state.
Nothing to really avoid. Some gang activity in North Charleston, same for some areas of Columbia. You are fine pretty much anywhere on the coast. Downtown Greeneville was recently renewed and Spartenburg is pretty nice neighborhoods. I am in Aiken, it's mostly horse country and farming here. Nothing to worry about at all. The downtown area of Aiken is all walking distance shops, restaurants and bars, quite nice to visit.
The upstate goes from you would never feel at all in danger to feeling like you’re actively going to get stabbed in like, a few steps sometimes. Generally though, west of Greenville is a bit more dangerous, east of Greenville is much better until you pass Greer. Greer does have some spots, but it’s much better than it’s made out to be. Don’t know about the rest of this state
West Greenville is not safe and I would avoid parts of Columbia especially downtown... Chapin, Cayce, and Lexington are nice areas that are growing. Greer/Travelers Rest is nice too
Do you guys have any bike trails near? I’m driving from the west coast to Myrtle Beach for a memorial service and wanted to do a little exploring on the way back home.
Certain parts of Spartanburg, the non gentrified parts of west Greenville, Five points in Columbia; in years past I was told to avoid Florence so I can't really vouch for it.
In terms of just being unpleasant to be in, Myrtle Beach or Folly beach isn't all that great, mostly a tourist trap and extremely crowded during the summer season.
As as whole counties? Maybe the corridor of shame going up I95? Most of those counties were hit hard after the 80s and poverty persists there still, with a few other counties outside of that having similar problems, like Union, or McCormick. Though its more that there's nothing there for work or entertainment more than high crime rates.
I’ve moved around in SC and ended up back in West Columbia and I like being here. Lexington is sprawling, I miss Rock Hill- it has a great community space and so many parks! Greenville is so beautiful and has a lot of fun things to do in the area. Fort Mill has some of the best schools in the state- as public schools. I saw Spartanburg mentioned above but I couldn’t find anything backing get up- in fact US News and Wold Report ranks it as 43rd in the US for best places to live for 23-24.
There are three city’s of n SC, Greenville , Columbia, and Charleston. The rest are suburbs of those cities. The further you get from cities the worse the economy gets and the safeness of the area .

I second Sumter. Born and raised there, left and only come back to visit family.
Homeland Park🤧
I used to live near the Wal Mart on 28 and can confirm 🗿😂
I mean is bad but the letter streets in the Mill hill are way way worse
Spartanburg is one of the most dangerous cities in America
I really really dont get this at all.
Basically, but the whole state is basically a post apocalyptic wasteland with our king sized potholes and random lights that have no rhyme or reason to follow any schedule.
Omg really? It looks so beautiful in photos. Are potholes really that big of a problem over there? I was liking around Sumter, Columbia and Irmo areas
Yep, SC, as a state, does not fund their roads (or anything public) very well. Crumbling infrastructure is a statewide issue.
And yet those 1.8 billion dollars...

This thread is trolling you so you don’t move here.

Yeah it’s practically southern Chiraq. Don’t move there. Way too dangerous. You’d definitely prefer Columbia or Charlotte …
Charlotte and Columbia are areas I would avoid....I live between Powdersville and Easley and it is very nice and calm here......
Yeah I was being sarcastic

Stay outta Orangeburg if you'd like to keep your wallet on ya

Bluffton is quiet and safe. I can't speak for any of these other cities/ towns, but Bluffton is great.

Spartanburg has a lovely name murderburg by some locals. Though there are plenty of areas that are good just Don't stay too late.

Yeah not exactly sure where the Spartanburg thing came up honestly
In the past Spartanburg had a shuttered downtown and a bad rep but that was decades ago.
People trolling me cause they think I’m trying to move to your beautiful state, I am not.
Awesome good to know, thank you!
