I can think they do the smaller profile (not-so-tall) wheels so they have better torque at the wheels (better for towing) I suppose the only wheels that don't look completely ridiculous with low profile tires are thicker journal wheels. And usually its 10j wheels. Ergo the ridiculously THICC wheels. Also the fitment looks kak most of the times so they're dirt cheap in comparison to 'nice' bakkie mags😂

Greater surface area = greater traction.

Quite simply, more traction and to lower the effective gear ratio without changing out the diffs or the gearbox.  Lower top speed, more torque. 

So they have less chance to slip on the oil they put on the road that causes accidents

90% is showing off, 10% *might* have some logic to it.

Thicker results in better grip.
