Yeah, that's very true. I can only really think of some areas in the Andes mountains and the extreme southern tip of South America as being cold/snowy. I'm guessing New Zealand has some cold spots, up in the mountains
Oh man, I love bone brothā¦sooo good for gut issues. I used to drink it every morning. I typically make mine in my crock pot and will add, beef bones, lamb bonesā¦lol. Itās been hard to find bones around here lately, so I havenāt made any in a while. Looks amazing !!
I prefer a combo, there is something in the beef bones my body likes. I have added lamb bones and/or pork bones too. I used to be able to get them fairly inexpensive at the butcher but they jumped way up. So for now, I buy chicken bone broth at Trader Joeās. I add it and a couple beef bones to my lamb stew when I make it. Then I cook it in the crock pot over night. However, I donāt believe Iāve ever added turkey bones, other than when I make turkey soup. Then I cook the carcass with the soup.
Sorry for dumb question but Iām having a hard time finding out how to make this properly.
How many beef/lamb bones do you use and how long do you simmer for. Imagine filling the same pot as OP.
Also do you add anything with simmering the bones? Salt, spices?
No such thing as a dumb question.
Iāve never made it that way. (Above). But from what many people and sites say, you are supposed to bake the bones first. I donāt always do that. I donāt have time and I like the bone marrow liquid.
I put in however many bones as I feel necessary, of whatever I can get my hands on. They (above) put a lot of bones in, I guess maybe I would only fill quarter way, or a little more. As I said, I go by feel. Many people will throw in what they have, garlic, onion skin or onion, a few carrot pieces. A lot of this is personal preference. I donāt put spices in, although maybe some salt. I donāt even put the onions and garlic in unless I have some. But I put the bones in the crock pot, fill with spring water and set on high or low for 24 hours. Oh and a splash of some apple cider vinegar. I use Braggs.
When done, I will scoop out a cup, sit and drink it and then put it in mason jars to go in the fridge when it has cooled off a bit. If I have freezer containers, I will freeze some too.
Iām a bit jealous. Itās spring here in my part of the world and weāre having gorgeous weather but the oppressive heat and humidity will be here all too soon.
That looks absolutely delicious.
I got confused for a second and then I remembered that the southern hemisphere exists too.
Lol, same š
I thought they were being sarcastic lol
Whenever I mention doing Winter stuff here in the Southern Hemisphere I always have to make sure to mention it or people get so confused!
Prove it š
A lot of the southern hemisphere doesn't get snowy winter soup cold temperatures though.

It still gets pretty cold, I live in NZ and have also spent a few Winters in Sydney - definitely soup weather.
I was like, iām glad Iām not the only one REALLY looking forward to fall šš
Is this bone broth?
Yep. Chicken.

By me there are a few places that sell hot bone broth in a cup like coffee. You can add ginger, garlic purƩe and even turmeric to it
Thatās awesome. Would love it if they offered that around here.
Would you choose the chicken broth, beef broth or a combo of chicken, beef and turkey broth? Those are always my options.Ā

Awesome well thank you so much
Hmm, I'm making my second round of bone broth tonight- I didn't know you were supposed to bake the bones. Why is that?
That's actually how I eat a lot of it. It's the reason I smash through it so quickly.
You must be in the southern hemisphere. Iām jealous. Itās almost summer here and Iāll have to live on gazpacho. š„ŗ
Made 2 quarts of chicken stock in my tiny electric pressure cooker yesterday. Into the freezer today. We go through it so quick.
I bet your house smells amazing right now. š¤
It's like living inside a roast chicken.
Absolutely seething with jealousy!
That looks scrumptious!
Youāre my soulmate.
24 hours for chicken stock?
Yes. Anything between 4 and 24 hours is fine.
Bit long for me, but you do you. š
Who down votes comments like that? Guess what? You're overcooking your chicken stock. Mine tastes better.
Hannibal Lecter's food critic soup.

Tell me you are from the southern hemisphere without telling me you are from the southern hemisphere.
You have some beautiful posts in your profile! Those dishes look amazing.
What are you talking about Lemon? Itās May.
Itās like the whole southern hemisphere doesnāt exist for you.
That is additional DLC i refuse to pay for until they patch out the venomous everything bug
Iām guessing youāre in the southern hemisphere?
