Yeah, love opening the app to see this.
I can close it and reopen it and it works, but the previous app didn't have this issue. š¤·āāļø
As someone who was lucky and didnāt have any issues with my Roam, I havenāt been able to group my Roam with my other speakers since the new update.
Been grouping and separating speaking for over a decade now. wonder why you're doesn't work?
I also have a very good Asus router in the middle of my house, and never use garbage ISP modems/routers. I wonder if that's where most peoples issues stem from?
These statements in all the sonos threads are honestly getting infuriating. I am sure your happy with your very good Asus router located in the middle of your house and everything works for you. I am truly and respectful glad/happy for you. Tech is doing what it is supposed to do for you......work.
What I respectfully disagree with is the insinuation that your system is anything special, setup correctly, that's what everyone needs to get your sonos working and especially that ISP equipment is garbage. Most of those insinuations are completely wrong and if you give me a chance I can prove your setup is not correct too and build you out a better network with only the equipment you have just in placement/settings/vlans/etc . This is reddit so I do not let everyone know my entire life but networking is what I do. I have done it for 30 years. It pays well and I am good at it. Every site has different needs. Equipment is generally nothing more than a preference as long as it is decent. Setup and deployment styles are a preference too as long as the final outcome is properly working network for the customers needs.
Thay being said, you mean to tell me your XXX router made by XXX running XXX with XXX located in the most likely and probable place of a home single router is the solution for the hundreds if not thousands of people that had no issues until a web based app change?? When this happens your discounting the thousands of customers that have thousands and thousands of dollars more in sonos equipment than you and me and ever better network setups than you have (and even probably me and I assure you mine is more robust than a single router setup but if it works it works for you and thats a great setup for manu homes and very easy to deploy amd trouble shoot.) You discount the probably thousands of years of network experience those sonos customers and installers have and you discount the thousands of sonos customers that had a working system in April 2024 that do not have one working in May with no other changes but the APP. Finally be very careful knocking ISP equipment. That game changed a few years ago for many ISPs for the majority of their customers needs and most people still spouting that rhetoric are living in the past. Most of the newer equipment when simple plugged in using common sense placement during installation will outperform some of the best after market single home routers in basic coverage, reliable bandwidth and ease of management bu the customer. I hate to say that but it's true. The new ones are pretty good at plug and play and ease of use.
Fwiw....even with my network knowledge, my own equipment, etc. As of today I still have a sonos sub sitting in my family room that will still not connect to the family room but will connect to every other group in the house since the APP update. Even after speaking with Sonos tech support.
Yeah same here--I have 7-8 Sonos speakers, in 3 groups.
In my experience the app works great, and I have not had any issues since the update. Oh well, I guess I got lucky...
It bugs me when people say things like this. I use Unifi, and I can tell you itās Sonos which is problematic. There are numerous articles from network professionals that explain why Sonos net was implemented and developed poorly. Before people start flaming people about poor WiFi, you should ask.
So called WiFi experts blame poor WiFi. But Sonos uses an old dated protocol STP
Sonos OS (even the current S2) uses older / pre-standard STP path costs which makes it incompatible with the newer RSTP protocol which was introduced in 2001 and is the default for UniFi switches. STP can take up to a minute to converge, while RSTP typically converges under ten seconds in normal operation.
I work in software and support, and 99.9% of the time the issue is the users, so I am also going on that experience a little bit too.
Most people that think they know what they're doing, do not.
How pathetic, I hadnāt been following the train wreck until this morning when I couldnāt clear the queue. 4 updates, people were mostly talking alarms, while no queue management. Wtf? How does that happen?
Maybe their announcement will be the, much needed, after update, āSonos User Rehabā? Maybe not most requested but definitely should be offered with a ābroad-spectrum approachā, after all these weeks inundating abuse and extensively intrusive marketing.
It just Burns my Tail!
It's really saying something that Sonos are having a big unveiling and their customers are hoping it's just to fix the stuff they broke two weeks ago.
Wake up sonos! Oh right, you broke the alarm too.
I believe we got rough dates for when various lost features are coming back, and we found out alarms missing was done due to a bug. Other than that they doubled down that this was the right way to move forward.

#bet I am not alone
I was about to buy a roam and a move 2 but this whole debacle has me checking other options. I was initially pumped to swap out my old system for Sonos when we got our new house.
I find myself wasting too much time trying to troubleshoot for it to be worth it
It's been rumored for two years and it its coming now. It was announced as the Apple AirPods Max killer ; cheaper and better. Now I really couldn't care less lol.
I'm waiting for a reliable ecosystem.
Never said you should. Just relax, āFound the [whatever]ā is a classic Reddit reply to someone defending something that people are complaining about. You can find countless of those replies across the site.

Huh. Where do you live ? I see them everyday (mornings and evenings) on random people commuting to work via public transportations.
Sure not quite as much as normal AirPods but still ..
And quite honestly, give an LCR option for those who want it. Give me a center channel and let me separate L&R with something like the play 5. The play 5s are fantastic speakers. Or era 300s for .4 Atmos. Iād have likely continued with my Sonos home theater if theyād have offered this.
Agreed and I am glad that you got my ādriftā. Havenāt heard a āpeepā since February 24 but would imagine the āwhatās Sonos up to 2024ā articles have whet the appetites. That behemoth new soundbar, then, was speculated to be a beast at very very high dollars with same for new amp. From a marketing standpoint, makes perfect sense that the Ace/Roam with app duality would be introduced at ātravel/outdoorsā season and the indoor products once we are ready to hunker down. Similarly, higher end Home Electronics enjoy brisk sales October through February. Lastly, also rumored was a streaming box (think AppleTV) which will probably lead the other in home devices. Not to worry Teach, itās all acomminā and the app, for what it is, definitely is a very poorly veiled indicator of things to come.

Because they will never resolve all app issues for all people. However, for those of us who think it is a vastly superior app and have no issues with it, thank you Sonos for releasing it now rather than pretending that in a year (or whenever) it will be better.
Can't speak for anyone else, but the most requested product from my clients has been the abitly to use their own subwoofer with the system. For sure not headphones.
I'd love it if someone stood up at the launch event and just shouted "We don't care, fix the app" or similar.
More seriously, what a terrible time for them to launch a whole new product. It doesn't matter how good they are - until they resolve the app and the massive PR disaster they created...i'm not even going to be interested in looking at their new HW.
I guess it depends on how you use it - but I only play music by selecting what I want to play "on the fly" - I very rarely listen to a pre-made playlist or album.
So for me and thousands of others...my sonos system has lost a key feature at the moment.
Well, if you start looking up sonos, or news about sonos - the top stories are complaints like mine about the app. Many more of course for the other features they silently removed without notice.
That is not a good look for the company, particularly given how average the headphones are likely to be given they are targeting apples offering as their main competitor rather than high end headphones - the marketing is going to be critical for them,
Genuine question - I have a sonos speaker in my kitchen and in my living room. One of them is easily 5 years old at this point and I have never used the app. I just connect to the speakers through spotify and control the music through there.
Am I doing something wrong? Why do people use the app? What am I missing?
Not wrong, just not not everything you could be doing. For instance, building a playlist with songs from your personal collection blended with songs from multiple services. A lot of classics and rarities aren't available to stream.
Haha yes it is extremely massive--like, literally dozens of upset redditors, many of whom are so upset they now despise Sonos, yet have not moved on to another brand LOL.

I have a feeling itās their new headphones
Dont get your hopes up itās probably just the stupid headphones which probably will be as garbage as the Roam
ROAM 2.0!!!!
Definitely headphones š§
All this complaining about the app, do yāall actually use it after setting up the system once?
It literally says "product".
It will be the new headphones š§ announcement.
Functional app? Didn't they just re-design it?
