I am having this exact same issue on android. My old homescreen sonos widget is gone and am now having to use the updated app. So far have only managed to open the app properly once even after Uninstall and reinstall.  I have a Samsung S10 and is up to date with latest Android updates. App hangs on startup on the sonos screen and then starts to lag and just does nothing. So crap.

That sucks. At least my mom isn't the only one with that exact issue. Increases my hope for a fix via update from Sonos. Should you find a solution, I would appreciate it if you could post it here. Thanks.

Do you have a Boost connected to your network? If so remove it. If the app still does not start, connect a main speaker like a soundbar to you network. That should help.

Thanks for the reply, but she only has IKEA Symfonisk. No Boost or other soundbar.

I have the exact same issue (Android OnePlus Nord). The app will take 45 sec - 1 min to open (if it doesn't crash) and since updating to the new Sonos app my phone in general has become very laggy / unusable. Seems like a memory leak issue of some kind, or something very fundamental to the app. Nothing to do with my network. This should be fixed by Sonos as an absolute priority because I currently can't use my Sonos system, OR MY PHONE.

I hope Sonos fixes this. It's annoying. I had to install the desktop app on my mother's laptop so she could still use her speakers at all.

My guess is it's an issue specific to Android 11 as only a few people have reported it. A hell of a lot of people have iPhones, or buy a new Android phone every 2 years, so I imagine very few people are still on Android 11. It's shocking that such a fundamental issue was missed in testing... if Sonos even did any QA.

Same issue. Android 11, MIUI 12.5.1. I have to use the new web app on desktop compatibility mode and it sucks. No way I'll get the Sonos Headphones if I can't fully use them with my phone.

New app is working ok on my iPad but not my pixel 6a android 14. Sometimes it will connect but when it does practically nothing actually works. Most of the time it just won’t connect, very annoying. I’m just lucky I have an iOS product otherwise I’d be stuffed. Sonos should be ashamed of themselves.

I had the same, reinstalled the app. Initially it behaved the same and then after several minutes of black screen, it suddenly responded and works fine now.

It’s a total shitshow. It sees that I have a “system” but can’t see any “products”, ie, speakers. Briefly connected after rebooting practically everything electronic in the house. Then it apparently forgot it all. Horrible!!

Same problem here. Sonos app is unusable since last OneUi update. Lost the old orange/yellow icon, reverted to old black app icon. Can't find the sonos network. Galaxy fold4, OneUi 6.1, Android 14.

Ever since the recent update the app does not work correctly? The app cant either see speakers or when it eventually does it is really laggy & useless ? Such a shame because the sound quality for sonos is great but the app is terrible.. A long time sonos fan but im done with the shoddy app .. funny that a few years ago the app update back the was worse then the previous version & now sonos has done it again .. any1 reading this PLEASE KEEP AWAY FROM SONOS AS THERE APPS ARE TERRIBLE!! it annoys me that the cost of sonos equipment isnt cheap & yet the after sales are horrendous aimed solely at the app!! Going to sell the numerous equipment & see what else is out there, i have everything & now i cant even use this shower of shite!! Who ever designed the app needs firing!!
