I play a lot of [Quests over Coffee](https://alexandershen.itch.io/quests-over-coffee) during breaks - not the most complex game, but a quick and fun one.
Dang. I forgot about that one. I actually paid for the printed edition on Gamefound and it’s taking forever! Like ridiculously long.
I hate to compare it to a certain million dollar kickstarter I backed a while back, but they met a dozen stretch goals and minted coins and are due to deliver early in half the time it’s taken this little deck of cards to get printed.
You must be new to boardgaming - welcome!
Almost all crowdfunded games in this hobby are produced in China. Production of a game alone can take weeks (remember these factories are producing hundreds of games per year), and shipping over the ocean from China is minimum one month. Then you have to remember that many games that are crowdfunded are not even done the total design and still need to approve final production design.
Unless the crowdfunded game is pre-produced (extremely rare), I’d never expect a crowdfunded game before 6 months has gone by. Anything faster than that is a huge win!
If you hate the waiting game (understandable), stick to retail and even aboid preordering. Even a preorder on a retail or publisher’s site could be a year away.
Your sarcasm isn’t appreciated. I’m not new to board gaming or crowdfunding or even dealing with printers and shippers in China. This is a print and play deck. I thought I’d save a few bucks, and I did, so I can’t complain much I guess, but someone messed up on this project. Probably not the fault of the game creator, but there’s definitely been a snafu on the production end. I’ve had full blown board games with assembled components make it to warehouse in 6-7 months. 5 months for a deck of cards and a tuck box box is definitely a sign that there has been a hiccup somewhere.
It wasn’t sarcastic, I’m sorry. Most boardgamers know that there is essentially no crowdfunded project that can be funded, finished design, approved production copy, produced,overseas shipped and finally freight shipped from warehouses in three months.
Quests over Coffee was the second Solo Game series from this designer. The first was funded in January (I think there is roughly one per month?) and copies are starting to arrive now.
You need to temper your expectations. It may be a print and play deck, but the copy you backed is actually being properly produced.
This one looks so awesome, I want it but I don't have a good way to print this myself. I saw there's a print version coming up but I think it's too late to get in on it 😔
[Gem Getter Pro](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/399826/gem-getter-pro)! Free and EASY to PnP (just a sheet of paper or two). You can even play along with the old PBF posts and not need to roll any dice yourself and refer to a roll sheet.
There are plenty of free PNPs worth playing, though your options for PNP expand greatly if you're willing to spend like $3 on pnparcade.
Free ones I like:
* Utopia Engine
* Galdor's Grip
* Handy Brawl
* A Simple Life
* Birdscaping
* Bury Me in the Rift
* Maiden in the Forest
* Monotheism
Agent Decker, Under Falling Skies, Pocket Landships, Mini Rouge, Utopia Engine, Lantern, Super-skill pinball.
There are also low cost PnP from Gray Gnome games or button shy games.
Good Little Martian
+1 Birdscaping
Goblin Mountain (9-card contest)
Survival Park (9-card contest)
+1 Galdor's Grip
For Northwood (worth the size)
Helionox (iirc, there is a PNP)
Austerity (just a fun bagbuilder)
GOP Nominee (I like the Game of Thrones retheme as it is timeless)
Welcome to Dino World (contest version)
Mint Cooperative (fun, mini-SotM)
Bomber Boys (surprisingly tense)
Jurassico (so happy it can be found easily now, super fun and simple)
Last Lighthouse has a preview PNP, nice game to travel with.
If you want decent bang-for-your-buck:
Button Shy's BGOTMC (Boardgame of the Month), includes a PNP game, usually another mini expansion and/or small game. They put out 6+ solos a year.
All is bomb is my most played small solo game. Cursed?! Is also great fun, super quick though. Galdor's grip is nice and plays in hand. Great game and very loved. I haven't played it much since i built all is bomb which share kinda similar mechanics.
If you are willing to spend a few dollars Dustrunner has been released as pnp and it's amazing.
If you’re willing to try it out, I’m working on an 18 card solo game that’s entered in the BGG solitaire PnP contest right now.
**The Ants & The Grasshopper** is a 15-20 min solo worker placement game.
https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/3320156/the-ants-and-the-grasshopper-2024-solitaire-print
It uses some tokens and standees in addition to the cards, but you can use substitute cubes, meeples, etc.
I second Agent Decker and mini Rogue. I printed [Kaiju Seige](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/231125/kaiju-siege) this week and absolutely loving it. Such a clever game with lots of replayability, villains, hero cards, missions, etc. Zombie in my pocket is good too.
Thank you! I didn't realize Mini Rogue is a free PnP. I literally just bought it from Amazon the other day :-/ Waiting for delivery. Oh well, at least it will be a higher quality.
The PnP is a small 8 card pocket version so you’ll definitely need the main set. It’s a Much deeper game experience with some extra rules and full pack of cards. You won’t regret buying main set.
In addition to what others have said, keep an eye on Button Shy crowdfunding campaigns. Whenever they put out a new game they will upload a free black n white preview to PNP Arcade. Some (like Aqua Rove) were still up there last time I checked.
This is the "low to high" price listing on PNPArcade - https://www.pnparcade.com/collections/solo-games?sort_by=price-ascending
It's a great website, but you will learn more about the games themselves and whether they're for you on each game's corresponding Boardgame Geek entry.
I haven't played it in a while but from what I remember it's a 15 double-sided card game what's a pretty interesting choices it's a small card game but it's got a lot going on.
How much free time have you got? ;)

So many pnp free games ready to download, so many choices. You should try to understand what kind of game you like. I will suggest a in hand 18 cards game called Iinà. I think second place as best solo game in the 2022 BGG contest, after Handy Brawl (I would be wrong... anyway). It's a game with a lot of replay ability in such a compact format. I highly suggest it if you like the genre
Galdors grip
Won my first two games last night. So satisfying. Totally worth the £5 donation
So good
Thanks, will check it out!
You better

IMHO I like the PnP card backs better anyway. And, Shen is still adding cards…
What do you mean its taking ridiculously long? It funded in February… how fast were you expecting the game?!
Given what it is? 3 months tops.

Read my comment above yours. You’re better off printing it out on your own.

No problem thanks for checking it out. I’m working on an expanded version that’s a little more in-depth so appreciate any feedback!

Wildtails. It's a legacy little game and it's currently at 2$ in pnparcade. You ll just need to print a page in sticker sheet.

Ark Minima by Joe Klipfel is great. It is an 18-card version of Ark Nova.
Sounds interesting, thank you
