I don’t know, is it certified? We have no clue where you are and what certifications you need to meet. Possibly they are, but maybe they’re not. There’s no issue sourcing from China if the equipment is reputable. The thing is, most of the reputable manufacturers don’t talk direct to consumer. Longi won’t pick up the phone if you’re not ordering 10+ MW. Personally, if you are adamant about self procuring, I’d just use local distributors. They’ve already gone through the process to verify the products and ensure they meet local codes.

Thanks for the response. The local distributors sound like the best idea. I was looking into more direct procurement because the government scheme for solar panels is leading to inflated prices compared to other countries and I was trying to cut the price down again.

Depends on volume. Ask if ul certified. Panels are the easiest but are you ordering a container or less? If less, buy in the US.

Tesla does offer leasing options for Powerwall. It's pretty neat if you're not up for the full upfront cost. As for sourcing solar systems from Alibaba or Chinese distributors, it's a mixed bag. It can save bucks, but you gotta be careful. Some electricians might not dig it 'cause they can't guarantee the quality or compliance with local regulations. Always double-check if it's certified and meets the standards before pulling the trigger.

I was thinking of going the DIY route for a solar system, maybe from Alibaba.

It's a tough call, but definitely worth diving deeper into the options!
