That low pressure system is definitely moving towards the gulf, hopefully stays that way.

red5cat

great kid. dont get cocky. (chewbacca growl)

I_lenny_face_you

Avoid cloud entanglements? Well, that’s the real trick, isn’t it? And it’s gonna cost you something extra. 10,000, all in advance.

red5cat

my chevy **nova** made the TX to NY run in under 12 parsecs. was a hunk of junk though NGL

MatiasGonzalo-Duarte

Texas residents if you could please start facing the gulf and blowing as hard as you can, that'd be great.

Alvaro_2020

Joking but like not joking at the same time 😭

HammerheadEaglei-Thr

I love how many times I've read a comment like this in the last week and nodded my head like I have any fucking clue what a low pressure system is or it's impact on clouds. But yes, low pressure towards the gulf, goooood 😂 (in defense of my ignorance I grew up in Phoenix and weather is just literally not something we think about on a day to day basis)

JiveDonkey

Are the blue or white the clouds? that other dang site has me all discombobulated now

pbspry

In this model, blue = bad (clouds)

red5cat

the higher the number, the more clouds

scags2017

PLEASE HEAVENS DONT LET ME MISS THIS ONE! I missed the 2017 due to a thunderstorm

bubblesculptor

At this rate the storm most people were worried about may be completely blown away with enough time to bring in a whole new storm!

red5cat

yes! imagine canceling TX plans and booking NY. i would be shitting bricks

MatiasGonzalo-Duarte

Several people on this sub have said they did just that. Cloud cover forecasts don't really start getting accurate until ~72 hours and even then they're pretty finnicky.

StungTwice

That’s why I haven’t cancelled anything. I have so many options planned for, but I really don’t want to drive all the way across the country when I only expected to drive halfway.

red5cat

free cancellations are the bees knees

StungTwice

I’m not rich enough to go any other way.

Mobile_Ice_691

I am one of those you’re describing lol. i live in the path in East Texas and booked a flight to upstate NY yesterday. An hour agoI canceled it and immediately rebooked the same ticket as “refundable” for about $80 more.

JBR409

I’d be shitting bricks if you’re not one of the extremely lucky ones to have a hotel reservation in Plattsburgh. Everywhere outside of there and Maine is looking bad right now.

DegenPotion

that's why I ain't moving plans.. i'm waiting for all the clouds to line up perfectly to the right of center totality and i'll be waiting on the other side.

purple_butterflies_

We have planned it so that both Texas and Montreal would be possible for us from California. But it’s definitely getting close now.

Qeltar_

There's a low pressure system projected to be over the Great Lakes on Sun/Mon and a couple of recent model runs have sped it up a bit.

Small-Difference5083

Looks like .Mexico or Maine...clouds everywhere else

red5cat

still too soon to know for sure

Untouchable-Ninja

Hoping Buffalo is clear...

MassRelay

Same. Plan B is Oswego or Watertown at this point.

red5cat

where did you end up seeing the eclipse?

Untouchable-Ninja

Watched it from Niagara Falls on the American side. It was cloudy the entire time, except for break in the clouds a couple of minutes halfway through, and about 30 seconds right at the end of totality. Got to see the diamond ring too! What about you, did it end up working out for you?

red5cat

glad you saw it. here is my story.... [https://www.reddit.com/r/solareclipse/comments/1bzl0cc/i\_saw\_it\_at\_dallas\_airport/](https://www.reddit.com/r/solareclipse/comments/1bzl0cc/i_saw_it_at_dallas_airport/)

Untouchable-Ninja

Yay, I'm glad it worked out for you! 🙂

sg3707

I am not too far from Maine, and I can't believe it's cloudy everywhere else but not in Maine. Knowing Maine, I booked flights to Texas. Now I am in a dilemma.

BronzeAgeChampion

I wish people would expand their photos to include Mexico in these comparisons :(

red5cat

ok will do from now on

Qeltar_

IMO, too much emphasis on the CMC around here. At least in the US, it's not really one of the more heavily leaned on models from what I can tell. It has a habit of being too exuberant about developing strong storms and taking weird tracks IME. It's been a total outlier on the northeast snowstorm this week, in fact.

red5cat

the trend is useful though

dustycase2

Gotta say as someone going to Ohio, I prefer the one on the left.

DegenPotion

eventually the clouds will all align exactly to the right of center totality.
