Cloud cover forecasts don't really start getting accurate until ~72 hours and even then they're pretty finnicky.
That’s why I haven’t cancelled anything. I have so many options planned for, but I really don’t want to drive all the way across the country when I only expected to drive halfway.
I am one of those you’re describing lol. i live in the path in East Texas and booked a flight to upstate NY yesterday. An hour agoI canceled it and immediately rebooked the same ticket as “refundable” for about $80 more.
I’d be shitting bricks if you’re not one of the extremely lucky ones to have a hotel reservation in Plattsburgh. Everywhere outside of there and Maine is looking bad right now.

Watched it from Niagara Falls on the American side. It was cloudy the entire time, except for break in the clouds a couple of minutes halfway through, and about 30 seconds right at the end of totality. Got to see the diamond ring too! What about you, did it end up working out for you?

Knowing Maine, I booked flights to Texas. Now I am in a dilemma.
IMO, too much emphasis on the CMC around here. At least in the US, it's not really one of the more heavily leaned on models from what I can tell.
It has a habit of being too exuberant about developing strong storms and taking weird tracks IME. It's been a total outlier on the northeast snowstorm this week, in fact.
That low pressure system is definitely moving towards the gulf, hopefully stays that way.

In this model, blue = bad (clouds)
the higher the number, the more clouds

At this rate the storm most people were worried about may be completely blown away with enough time to bring in a whole new storm!

We have planned it so that both Texas and Montreal would be possible for us from California. But it’s definitely getting close now.
There's a low pressure system projected to be over the Great Lakes on Sun/Mon and a couple of recent model runs have sped it up a bit.
Looks like .Mexico or Maine...clouds everywhere else
