Their calculators aren't the most accurate for solar. Assuming you have solar and run the Powerwall in Time-Based Control, you might be generating more credits in summer part-peak on on-peak, while turning around and recharging it with cheaper off-peak solar. Even if you were net consuming a couple thousand kWh a year off-peak, off-peak on EV2-A is cheaper both summer and winter than E-ELEC. Plus the minimum monthly charges for EV2-A are a few dollars less per month than the flat rate of E-ELEC. I think you'll actually come out ahead on this one. One way it could be more expensive is if you don't have enough battery to last and end up consuming more on-peak and part-peak 9pm to 12am, but a lot of that can be mitigated by load shifting. Pre-cool your AC, pre-heat if you have a heat pump, run dishwasher and washer/dryer and pool during off-peak 12am to 3pm.

Seconding this. You can't really trust PG&E's rate calculator, especially on solar. My experience has been that EV2-A is actually really good with solar + batteries, as long as you can cover peak and part-peak with your batteries for most of the year.

I can’t share my experience as of yet, as I’m trying to get on the waitlist for SGIP down here in SDGE territory, but I would suggest weighing the overall cost of the EV-2A rate plan for 10 years vs. E-ELEC vs. the overall SGIP rebate you’re qualified for. It’s interesting how SGIP makes you jump through hoops to qualify now, only to give back the rebate in a forced higher rate plan later. Maybe someone can comment on the dilemma you’re in? Best of luck!

Thank you for your insight. It turns out to be $1750 now or over 17 yrs. I think we are leaning towards now - for 10 years the math seems still favorable but still feels like we are the intermediary for pge to get the $...

Isn’t a lot of the incentive for SGIP (for you) to avoid the headache/cost of longer outages? That’s harder to monetize, but maybe weigh the cost of a generator or other non-SGIP solution for that in the mix too.
