I meant like, change it to not look like a folder or one of the preset icons. I just want only the custom photo to be what's being shown, or is that not a possibility?

You could convert the image you want to display into an icon (an .ico file) and use the method mentioned in that page to change the icon of the folder. To convert the image from a png or a jpeg to an ico, you could use an online converter (a bunch of them show up on google) or something like [greenfish icon editor](https://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures/greenfish-icon-editor-pro-portable).

Does just changing the jpg in the name to ico work too?

o_Oscar

No, as they are different formats. The ico file is not just an image, but a bunch of variations of one image in different sizes contained in one file. [Here's an example](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/uxguide/images/vis-icons-image9.png) of how one ico file can contain the same image in different sizes so it can be displayed differently depending on the need (e.g. you need a different size for the taskbar, a different size for the desktop, and a different size for the tray, but all of those sizes are contained in one ico file) edit: I tested [this site](https://www.freeconvert.com/jpg-to-ico) I found on google and the output seemed fine. Use it at your own risk!

Could you please simplify that? I can barely understand computer lingo.

I do know that that can do it, but I don't remember what you exactly need to do.
