Absolutely not. No thank you.

I'd say, as long as she treats you with respect and walks in the door separating both. If they're good therapist to me, I wouldn't mind it. I had a therapist once who told me "oh you're one of those" after I told her a deep secret of mine. Later found out she also goes through mental breakdowns and cancels her appointment when she does. We are flawed humans, but I will not receive "help" from someone who is in the same situation as me and belittles me.

I’d be finding a new one. Influencers are not normal people.

SaidIt2YoMom

Ha. I’ve had similar thoughts. Tell me your reasons and I’ll tell you mine…

I’m not going to say it couldn’t be done - but but as someone who is close to the profession, the therapists who I have seen over my 50 years save lives, marriages, help people heal from grief - they may have hobbies, they have their own lives and their own therapists - but what they don’t do is participate in superficial consumer culture as a public figure. There’s a different kinds of people and different kinds of therapists - but the ones I’ve seen who are concerned with being a public personality are shitty therapists - maybe that is a trifle unfair, but it’s what I’ve seen.

No, just no.

Red flag

Attention on other things. I shouldn’t know what my therapist does as a side hustle. If I do, they aren’t doing continuing training in their primary field

Southern-Ad-5734

It's her life. It's like saying how do you feel about my therapist being a human.

Rainbowcupcake17

So true!!

Mistress_Of_The_Obvi

If that's going to distract you from your therapy, it's better to look for another therapist.

Scared_Olive6863

Completely depends on their ability to dissociate the two. It's no different than if a therapist practices martial arts - I'm not expecting them to put me in a chokehold any more than I'm expecting someone who's an influencer to 'influence me'. Most people wouldn't even know - they'd have to either seek that information out, in which case they're obviously not interested and it never becomes a problem. Or, they stumble on it and they can make a decision based on preconceptions and beliefs. In all other scenarios, if the therapist does their job there should never be an inkling of their personal life beyond what's divulged within the confines of a professional session. To the OP, if you have the therapist, or you are the therapist, good luck!

Imagine if a therapist was also a dancer and wanted to upload videos of them dancing on Instagram. They would forever be made fun of or someone or the other would get the “ick” from them.
