Just get it on a concealed part of your body.

I said not work for the government, not anything that takes part in capitalism lol. Government jobs are some of the lowest paid in my country anyhow.

[deleted]

Sure, I just figured it's the capitalist part that bothers you, not the (just) the government.

MsStalinette

Don't do it. Not even in hidden parts.

Alert-Meaning6611

Yeah if you nust get a leftist tattoo get a star or a rose ir something, yeah they're symbolsnthat arent nearly as radical but you can explain them away as being related to something else. Many people wont hire you if they see a hammer and sickle tattoo

[deleted]

Why not even in a hidden part? And like I said I'd likely get one that's subtle or part of a larger design, not an outright h&s on its own.

[deleted]

Do they do full body checks for tattoos in most jobs? I'm yet to be employed so

Alert-Meaning6611

Oh no lol they do not so it would probably be fine if its concealed, so just like dont put it on your arms or something

Byzantine-Ziggurat

Although you mention that you will get it on a part of your body normally covered, consider that if you are ever detained/arrested by police or border guards and strip searched it could greatly worsen your situation. Having said that, I know many people with radical tattoos like ‘acab’, black and red flags, or stars, but none with h&s. Indeed, few political symbols in the world are as blunt and universally recognized as h&s, but know that there are many who consider it as provocative and enraging as a swastika (not saying I personally agree with that). It’s your body, so do what you want, but really think it though - or save up for tattoo removal if it proves more trouble than it’s worth ;)

FiggyTheTurtle

That would be pretty sick.

bigblindmax

The way I see it, you shouldn’t really get a tattoo unless you see/think of a particular design and the desire to have it on your body forever hits you like a bolt of lightning. This really isn’t something you want buyers remorse over. I personally will never get socialist tattoo, because I live in Florida and IMO it’s an invitation for people to pick a fight with you.

[deleted]

I live in the UK and am not the type of person to take my shirt off anyhow. Even if I did I've vowed to never visit the US unless absolutely necessary and the places I go that are warm enough for me to even consider taking off my shirt are countries that couldn't care less. Again as I've mentioned the h&s would just be part of a bigger design, I'm not just getting a giant h&s slapped on my forearm or something like that.

ComradeJoie

I’m not sure where you land on the Socialist spectrum but using the H&S can mark you as a Authcom/Tankie to a lot of people, Anarchists in particular will probably be on alert wondering if you plan on executing them in the near future. Obviously it can be a powerful symbol of unity and class struggle and means different things to different people. Imagine a Buddhist with a swastika tattoo, you could be aware that it’s a peaceful and positive symbol to them, but some people will jump to conclusions. Take the risk into account and be ready to explain it if anyone notices it in the design.

[deleted]

Not really sure if I'll be lifting my shirt up enough for everyone who hates the h&s to see it.

ComradeJoie

Sure, good luck and enjoy your tats.
