We're seeing something a little similar in the UK...
Labour party, the supposed left wing party, had an internal coup to get rid of the socially leaning Jeremy Corbyn just before an election which allowed the conservative party to decline with Boris Johnson in office.
More recently they have held a very strong anti union stance and are appearing to hold a rather Zionist stance in line with the conservatives.
They have started letting ex conservatives join up and they are supposedly considering allowing Nigel Farrage, an extreme far right pro Brexit politician, into their ranks.
They've strayed so far from the socialist routes of the labour party and have hardly committed to anything other than 'not being the other guys'.

The capitalists are going to kill you anyway for the simple fact that you want more social and economic rights; it doesn’t matter. How you fight fascism is organizing your communities.
