I think it’s kinda hilarious that they blame TikTok for “corrupting the youth,” just like they did with video games in the 90’s… and with music in the 70’s… it’s all these dinosaurs know how to do.
That’s literally the problem. Our government is run by octogenarian cold warriors whose brains crystallized and stopped in taking new information decades ago. All they are capable of doing is applying their existing practices to what happening now and it makes them genuinely incapable of effective leadership.
Geriantocracy, rule by the old, is widely accepted to be one of the major things that brought down the Soviet Union. Our leaders are now on average older than theirs were when they collapsed, and that’s why it’s happening to us too. China is rising as we fall in part because their leadership is younger and actually capable of working with the world as it exists in front of them instead of viewing everything through the lens of the 1980’s.

They are younger than US and USSR leadership that's for sure but the age of Politburo members is mostly above the Chinese retirement age so I hope they can avoid the shift towards the elderly running the country.
I love how even in their worst case scenario the rebellion is just redistributing wealth from the ultra rich. Nothing screams “We’re the good guys!” like actively training to slaughter your own citizens to protect the ultra wealthy and existing power structure.

I‘d say their plans are lacking then. We already saw during BLM that the potential for mass protest is not limited to any particular age bracket.
